the new york times website was running an ad today for subscriptions to the new yorker:

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://w1.buysub.com/pubs/N3/NYR/se......onse_key=IDRNNBH2&cds_mag_code=NYR"><a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://w1.buysub.com/pubs/N3/NYR/self_NYT.jsp?cds_page_id=26264&id=1143139615671&lsid=60821246556034315&vid=1&cds_response_key=IDRNNBH2&cds_mag_code=NYR"><a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://w1.buysub.com/pubs/N3/NYR/self_NYT.jsp?cds_page_id=26264&id=1143139615671&lsid=60821246556034315&vid=1&cds_response_key=IDRNNBH2&cds_mag_code=NYR">https://w1.buysub.com/pubs/N3/............=IDRNNBH2&cds_mag_code=NYR</a></a></a>

so, for those of you who enjoy the new yorker (which i do) or those of you who want to impress some girl who happens upon the door to your place and enter it (which you might), subscribe to the new yorker for a good price. previous subscription rates i've seen haven't been less than a dollar an issue.

edit: this offer good for today only.
edit 2: the offer still seems to be valid, the page is coming up.

another offer, thanks to Plasdom for the link: ($19 for a year)

This is definitely hot.
The New Yorker has been and remains one of the best magazines in the world, imho.
Cutting edge cartoons (I would have to mention that first), first-rate journalism, sophistication without the hoity-toity; The New Yorker?s got it all. Not just the voice of the city, but simply stated, the abundant life.
The New Yorker has shared in the nation?s history, created some of it, and if one were interested in the art of journalism, this is where you would find a treasure trove - certainly, a place to meet both old and newly-found favorite authors.

If I were only allowed one magazine, it would have to be The New Yorker
(OK ,The New Yorker Scientific American Magazine).

"Your subscription will continue each year at the rate then in effect as long as you wish unless you tell us otherwise. You will receive an annual reminder about 60 days before your credit card is charged or a bill is sent, according to how you initially subscribed. You may cancel at any time during your subscription and receive a full refund on any unmailed copies."

Don't feel bad, that's what's on the other one. Thanks for the deal though I bit for a year.

I took a few minutes to go through the first 10 or 15 search results for cheap magazines. I managed to find deltamagazines.com which has a Yahoo! store type-thing.

The New Yorker at DeltaMagazines.com

They have 47 issues for $16.25, which comes out to $0.346/issue. Good times.

Is this a rated seller?

The New Yorker? Pardon me for crapping, but... The last time I had a serious look, back about 1965, it was one of the stuffiest, boring, snooty, snotty, lefty, casually-anti-American magazines you could buy at a magazine stand. (In those days I was not adverse to anti-Americanism, or some of the other adjectives, as I am today.) You'd have to go to your local "peoples" book store, maybe in the poetry section, to plunge further. It did have some sort of literary aspirations though, completely misplaced. (I used to read some of it in the library. I would never consider buying it. I was always sorry I had wasted my time after reading in it.) I have checked it over at the magazines stands in the intervening years, and it only appears to have deteriorated.

The Scientific American used to be about the most astonishingly accomplished magazine of all time for what it attempted, and mostly succeeded at doing. Even so, it had a veiled anti-capitalist, anti-US bend to its editorial aspect, concealed as environmentalism and arms-control. Whatever it once was, it bears not the slightest resemblence to its former self, and today is valueless trash, except possibly the lurid artwork.

IMHO.
