Do you think there is going to be a new GTA? or did San Andreas finish it?

I'd say the GTA series will be like the Final Fantasy series. As long as each title sells well they will continue to pump them out. Although we probably won't see anymore till PS3 comes.

That, and the fact that each game is getting bigger than its predecessor, they also might want to switch engines since the current one is not much more than a heavily tweaked GTA3 engine. so it takes time to develop eh.

oh yeah but for some reason I didn't enjoy San Andreas as much as GTA3 and Vice City even though it was the biggest of the three and you could do more stuff. I enjoyed Vice City the most. I don't know what it was about San Andreas I didn't like. Maybe it was the whole gangsta theme. I also enjoyed Vice City soundtrack better. Either way I completed all three.

Yeah I think we will see a whole new engine next time around since it will most likely be on next gen consoles and I can't wait to see it. I am just curious if they will stick with Carl(or was it CJ or both?) owell I forgot, or go with a new character.

^really? I though San Andreas was undoubtably the best out the three. I think the whole gangster theme is great seeing as thats what the game entails anyway.

The next GTA game will certainly be one of the first games out for PS3, and yes, it will be on a brand new engine.

Vice city was the best for me, i liked tommy vercetti he rocked. I never got into san andreas, never enjoyed the characters or the massiveness of it. The little redneck places in the middle of nowhere where allright though, nice touch.

I thought GTA3 was the best, and loved VC. Something about SA just isn't right.

I too, enjoyed Vice City the most. It just felt more fun than SA. Maybe it was the whole 80s thing, I don't know.

Wow, I thought I was alone in VC being my favorite. I agree, I think it was the 80s thing, and of course the beautiful sunsets, palm trees, the beach, etc I liked San Andreas a lot though, better than GTA3. There is of course a nostalgic place in my shriveled black raisin... erm, I mean my heart, for the original GTA as well

I despised GTA1&2.
GTA3 ran like crap on my computer.
Vice City was a ton of fun, and ran smooth as butter.
San Andreas also was a lot of fun, and ran pretty well. (except for the flying missions)

I seemed to enjoy playing Vice City more, though.

Sadly, I've finished none of them.

Loved all 3. First GTA3 was hardest to get into it seemed. Once the characters started talkin in VC and SA things got more interesting. The flying missions in SA are a bitch. I still haven't beaten them yet. VC was awesome but I liked all the little things you can do in SA. SA also has funny dialogue and moments.

Vice City was pure class.

I hope the next game goes for the classy touch as opposed to the gangster crap.

Nothing was wrong with the gangster "crap", IMO. I dont think SA could've been based out of Los Angeles, San Fran, and Vegas without at least recognizing the the so-called "gangster" culture.

Go back and play it on your current system. 16x12 with max AA and AF, frame limiter off. Looks beautiful on my 7800 GTX and 2001FP.

loved em all. but SA was the least loved of them... i enjoyed the music and radio chat A LOT more in GTA3 and VC.

i think one of the things i missed from before was not only the closeness of missions, like it didnt take 10 minutes to get to save points and back, but also the sense of fimiliarity around the city..

i'd always get lost and even had a lot of trouble getting back to grove st sometimes.

I gave it away. I chalked it up to the game engine.

I think the main thing I didn't like about San Andreas is that it was so huge and it took you a long time to drive from place to place. I memorized all the roads in GTA3 and Vice City and never needed the map after a while. But the 30+ hours I've spent on San Andreas for PS2 I still don't know the roads to good because it's just too huge.

SA was way better than Vice City. I suppose if you really liked the 80s theme of VC, you could overlook everything else, but SA was huge and ran awesomely. You could fly between airports and all the vehicles were extremely well done. After beating SA, I went back and tried to replay VC some but couldn't handle it, you would be amazed at the difference in graphical polish between the 2 games. Put SA in, try the vehicles out and then take it out and put VC back in and try some of the same vehicles. You will realize very quickly why SA is the better game and a culmination of everything that came before it.

As to the OP, of course there will be another GTA. I just hope they really sit down and redo the engine this time around. I'd like to see them make it really next gen and nice looking. But at the same time, I hope they keep jets and other flight vehicles in the game.
