Today at a Washington DC press conference, the NRA reveals its answer, that instead we need more guns.

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/...sb25xBG1pdANNZWdhdHJvbiBGUARwa2cDYjUyMWY4Yzkt

More guns wielded by armed security guards at our nations schools. As unaddressed is the question of who will pay for the all those armed guards and the expense of buying them even more assault rifles.

As in closing, the NRA cited one of its catch phrases, "That the only thing the stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."

Of course there is a problem with that bogus reasoning simply because the "bad guys" with or without guns always have the element of surprise, and will make sure to take out the school security guard first leaving everyone else helpless. While the bad guys get another deadly weapons in the bargain.

As bad guys with guns can always also stop good guys with guns too.

Is this really the best argument the NRA can come up with?

You obviously didn't read the NRA's statement.

They offered to pay for and train the security guards.

No one is suggesting arming security guards with assault rifles.

An armed security guard would do more to prevent mass shootings than ridiculous assault weapons bans.

Why is there only one good guy with a gun in your scenario? Because you wanted it to fail.

Everyone wants to bring back the AWB, while ignoring every independent review said it was ineffective at reducing crime.
So tell me what the goal is?

It's worlds better than you moron gun-grabbers, "We need more laws, so that people that don't follow laws will stop shooting people."

Your logic is astounding. Why have laws at all? People aren't going to follow them anyways.

All Abortions Legal
Gay Marriage Legal
Speeding Legal
All Drugs legal
Marrying your Cousin legal
Murder legal
etc...

You're right, fuck the laws people are going to break them anyways.

I've often wondered why the gun control guys even care.

I have guns ultimately because I was robbed at gunpoint so it changed my worldview on crime happening to other people and the cops being able to keep you safe.

"When you need help in seconds the police are just minutes away" = true for 99.9% of crime.

If they feel like they are being left out, just go buy a gun and see for yourself. If you are scared of guns, why are you trying to infringe on other people?

If you think crime never happens and protecting yourself is frivolous then keep it to yourself and if crime does happen huddle in a corner and pray the cops get there fast enough and learn the lesson the hard way.

It's beyond stupid to think that banning guns from upstanding citizens is useful in preventing this type of thing from happening. If someone wants a gun it doesn't take much to drive to Mexico and get one even if the government magically confiscated the millions in this country already.

Does it seem like the two parties were designed to take turns stripping the Constitution of it's power with each concurrent election? Vote for the right, they take your right to privacy and protection from unreasonable and unwarranted search, seizure, and detainment. Vote for the left, they start trying to take guns. It almost seems like our government is in the business of pissing on the people who made America on behalf of the people. Very weird.

Please link to what you claim supports your position that the NRA is offering to pay for all these hundreds of thousands of security guards. In the news article linked by OP the NRA wants the federal government to pay. Huge, huge difference. If gunnuts want such a boondoogle program they should pay for it.

The NRA are just a shill for the guns/ammo manufacturers. They don't care about the members, the money they get from members are peanuts to what they get from the manufactuers...

Cause gun control regulation is free. Everyone knows this. Confiscating guns is also free. People want to confiscate them so badly that volunteers line up by the 100's of thousands.

I figure we can start with you. You can do background check paperwork for 20 hours a week for free. Sound good?

The difference being that this new 'law' is to protect us against killing sprees - which are already as illegal as you can possibly get.

Is the constitution evil too?

lol no but it was written over 200 years ago and times change... That's why the 13th amendment was added to clear up the whole "Slavery" thing and the 19th amendment was added so Women can vote.

Should we go back to the original text and ban Women from voting and go back to slavery?

Please note in your two examples amendments were added. If we want to take away citizens rights to own firearms. There is a process for doing so as you have noted.

While I seriously doubt there's going to be a constitutional amendment anytime soon forbidding citizens to bear arms. The current 2nd amendment does grant the government power to regulate guns (Barring sales of certain types, ammunition), so I expect any future gun control laws to be fully constitutional.

Shrug, sounds better than the current system when someone starts shooting in a "gun free zone" which has basically been to wait for the bad guy to run out of ammo and/or off himself.

Laws, especially for most of the things you listed, don't stop that behavior they simply offer the government a method to punish you for it after you do it.

What my hope these new gun control laws would achieve is extra time (Stall him/her) before they would want to carry out a heinous act. It's extremely easy to get upset and in the heat of a moment just whip out a gun and take a life (or lives).

If someone is hell bent on killing they're going to do it, but with new gun control laws restricting access and jumping them through several hoops eventually discourages enough where they don't do it.

Whether its banning guns or increasing guns neither address the heart of the issue which boils down to parenting and mental health.

Both scenarios are knee jerk reactions and are the standard MO after a gun tragedy.

Here is what I propose:

Mandatory parent education before a baby is born, covering how to be a good parent and what to expect (this one isn't controversial at all/s)

Universal health care which also covers mental health (ha ha, another push for the lefty agenda)

And lastly;
Mandatory gun training before you can own a gun (similar to a drivers test, both a written and a physical test).

All address the heart of the matter and none will ever be talked about let alone happen.

That is quite the fantasy you have there.

That is quite the fantasy you have there.

You say fantasy, the majority and momentum of this country is saying reality soon. It's completely disingenuous and myopic to dismiss all this as fantasy and carry out the norm.

You may find mass shootings as the norm, but myself and the majority of the country do not think so. Thankfully that's going to be changing soon.
