Just watched this video and the beginning is what we have come to expect in PC gaming when it comes to GPUs. Guy has a 1070 (he thinks it's a Ti) and plans to upgrade to a 3060Ti. But it's over budget. He doesn't want an AMD GPU even though he has an AMD CPU. Microcenter had to talk him into a 6750XT. Good grief Nvidia has brainwashed so many.

I thought the 6750XT wasn't particularly good value for money compared to the 6700XT?

When she showed him RX6750XT he was like: "what is this *poo*, I wanted a graphics card". He's first reaction was to keep the 1070Ti. 🦄🌈

Generally speaking not, it's a factory overclocked 6700XT. It's about 5% faster, sometimes up to about 8%. And most of the time the price difference is way more than that which make is not worth it, however, occasionally there is a deep sale on 6750xt, newegg had XFX 6750XT for $320 for like 30 minutes earlier this week. It got snatched up quick because it was such a good deal at the pricepoint. Regular pricing it's not worth it though.

On topic, I don't think it's as much bias as brilliant nvidia marketing and general unawareness/lack of care from general public. The reason I use Tide for washing powder is because I know it works and because I don't care enough to try cheaper powder to see if it works just as good as Tide. Now think about all the people who are generally computer illiterate, they just know that everybody has nvidia so they know it works and they don't care enough about trying out the alternative.

In this case, if the cheapest 6700XT was $350 like on Newegg, it was about 12.5% more money for about 10% more performance. Close enough value wise, and allowed them to use the budget MC gave them. It was a promotional vid after all.

But yeah, Most n00bs and casuals equate Nvidia with PC gaming. Only way that changes is grass roots. Which judging by how often Nvidia is being roasted on PCMR, could be problematic for them this generation and next, if they keep milking customers. That sub has 7.4 million members.

Can't believe how many people still want 3060 Ti, 3070, and 3070 Ti these days. I wouldn't touch an 8GB card with a ten foot pole after Hogwarts Legacy, and especially now that 8GB being insufficient for 1440p is a bona fide trend and not a one-off in 2023.

Here in Denmark the cost of the 3070=RX6800 and 3070Ti=6800XT, which is the reason I went with the 6800XT.

The low end doesn't want to buy AMD anyway.

I think it makes sense for AMD to let the low end go.

AMD needs halo products to score its console contracts. It doesn't need money losing low end gpus nobody wants to buy. It is time for AMD to drop the low end skews.

Let the nvidia fan boys win. Let them enjoy their exclusive nvidia only low and midrange world.

So let Intel take the low end away from nvidia?

Which end is it that buys AMD?
Sony, Microsoft, Samsung, Valve, etc.

As long as AMD has a halo product that is good enough to compete with Nvidia's high end hardware and software wise they can make deals all day long. With Samsung they don't even have to manufacture the chips.

The AMD is lacking most the tech used in high end games, or it offer less speed, that a fact, AMD zealots as always can only spreading FUD as they do

Except for most recent generations AMD doesn't even try to compete with NVidia's halo card, like the 4090 this generation. So I don't get what you mean when you say low end buyers don't buy AMD. If anything that is where they get most of their buyers, with better pricing on the lower end. While NVidia pulls in the halo buyers with 4090 cards.

Plus I don't really see what the Halo card has to do with the license business. For the Console Chips, NVidia doesn't have access to an x86 CPU and are kind of locked out of that market.

Plus before the consoles went x86 NVidia was apparently miserable to deal with so was losing that business ever before the consoles went x86, so AMD just has to not shoot their own foot off to keep the console business.
