You know who I don't really care for? Jim. He's just a smug lil bastard.

You feel for Michael (no need to explain), Pam (she's adorable, wants to get into art but Roy didn't care for her), Dwight (so sad when he got dumped by Angela) and more... even Angela.

But Jim.

He's just a smug lil kid. I find it hard for me to actually like him. I don't dislike him. He's just there.

IMHO, Jim is the glue that ties the entire thing together. You need normality to offset the other male characters.[/quote]

Agreed on both of those. I don't overly like Jim (though his looks to the camera are simply the best. He conveys A LOT with out saying a word). As stated too, he is necessary as he is the one "normal" guy stuck in a dead-end job with normal outlooks and thoughts on life. He mocks and jokes about everyone, but, much like Michael, and that you pointed out, he does eventually feel bad for all that stuff (remember when he realized that all his pranks on Dwight, when listed together just didn't seem "As funny"?) He's smug, but its his way of handling things and he does have a conscience too.

I actually found Angela to be the most obnoxious this episode. Her cold standoffishness was a bit unbelievable this time around.

As opposed to her warm, open arms in every other episode?

FYI: you know the deal with Angela in real life right? She pregnant. So the producers decided to make a drinking game out of it. Every time they obscure her belly on screen by an obvious trick (there was a toaster last night) you're supposed to take a drink.

I didn't know that. I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for that in the future.

I thought it was a great episode. I loved Michael's $200 Plasma TV.

1 - She's not a warm person, obviously, I just found it too over-the-top last night, even for her.

2 - I didn't know she was pregnant. They did a good job of hiding it.

Oh yeah she burned em hard no question. I do enjoy when they do that up and back thing "topping" eachother too. Like the time Jim couldn't talk until he bought Pam a Coke and he faked the crying etc etc.

That was priceless. I loved that exchange between those two.

I think that is because she is still in love with Dwight. And obviously he feels the same.

LOL "How do you know eachother?

LOL perfect response while he's sitting in that corner chomping away.
Honestly some times I don't get how these actors say their lines and everyone doesn't bust up.

oh sure I agree with you then you shoot me down

I'm saying that they need to make her turn the corner or get rid of her. People love Michael Scott (see my previous post) but they will not enjoy him being berated and belittled by her for much longer. Do you not get pissed at Jan for the way she treats Michael (though laugh your ass off at it while its happening)?

Michael is even starting to take a step forward with him hanging the St. Paulies girl neon sign. I think that story line is either going to change dramatically or end.

maybe he'll finally get to sleep in the bed with jan instead of the little hope chest at the foot of it?!

"it looks kind of small"
"naw, its more comfortable than it looks" [lies down in the fetal position] "see?"

man, that episode last night was hilarious..

It was the culmination of so many storylines that made it so funny. If you weren't a fan of the office before this episode you would of had no idea what was going on.

My personal favorite part was the plasma TV and michael trying to get Andy and Jim to invest in Jan's candle company. hahahaha

"James Bond fire.... Michael Scott. "

For some reason, I laughed so hard at that line.

I loved the episode.

The Office has always been extremely uncomfortable humor. You don't know whether to laugh, cry, or be offended. This episode hit all the marks, and it was smart to take the context out of the actual office and explore that TGIF dinner-party dynamic. One of the most endearing things about this show if the depth they put in the characters by making each character a little cruel and a little kind. In that way, each character plays an office archtype, but they are also a character beyond that archtype. All those close-ups and 5-second side clips do a lot to take you into the range of each character's feelings.

I can see what people are saying in terms of ending the show on a high note, sooner rather than later. Like the Simpsons or Seinfeld, or Sacha Baron Cohen, eventually each new form of comedy runs its course.

End on a high note is a load of crap.
I'd rather take the office at 50% versus 90% of the shit on TV (that still goes for the Simpsons at their current running pace of 25% over most of the shit on TV). I'm all for gridning every last bit of humor out of every character I have laughed at on TV.
