at the very least this should destroy a kindle dx
If there was no contract for the 3g data....I dont understand why they wouldn't open it up to all the carriers. I guess it would need a different chipset to work on VZ/Sprint? But it should work on t-mobile, right?
Unless it directly supports the 3G frequencies that T-Mobile uses (which would be unlikely; they use an odd band compared to the rest of the world) then it won't work in 3G mode on T-Mobile's network. If this thing doesn't support 2G (which is entirely possible) then it won't work on T-Mobile's network period. If there was no contract for the 3g data....I dont understand why they wouldn't open it up to all the carriers. I just don't get it, who's buying this? Most of the market for this already has 1)an iPhone or an ipod touch, and 2)a Macbook or a Windows laptop. This doesn't replace the iphone or ipod touch because it's too frigging big. I keep my ipod touch in my pocket because I never notice it's there. When I need it I use it. It's not a hassle to keep with me, so I always have it when I want to use it. This thing? I'd have to make plans to bring it along. Then at home, I'd rather use a laptop. My laptop is always at the perfect viewing angle because it, get this, sits on my lap with the screen towards my face. Plus my laptop can do little things like display flash content and mutitask.

The pricing is much better than I thought, but charging people $130 more just for a 3G chip is a complete rip-off IMO. I'm guessing most of that money will go straight to at&t for infrastructure upgrades, because they're going to need it.
I'm fairly disappointed in the device simply because of the lack of multitasking. I'm having a hard time figuring out who their target market is for this thing other than Apple diehards and gadget lovers.
Man I was hoping they'd mention iphone os4.0
My friend was just asking.. "What about handwriting recognition, isn't that a big feature of a tablet?"
Correct me if I'm wrong here but a stylus would not work with the capacitive touch screen, so you'd have to write with a finger, no?
I think I feel differently than most people.
I think the iPad could very well replace laptops for many people. Not all people, but many of them.
