Yup, 6 days early, AFAIK there won't be any returns until polls close Nov. 3, but here goes. I expect to spend the evening (Pacific Time Zone) with TV tuned to network returns show with this lappy on my lap checking out this thread. Many happy returns!

Especially when early voting may outpace the total number of vote last election. I feel the outcome will be known either election night of by Friday.

Not may but will. Turnout is expected to be 150million. Early voting has already exceed 75million.

On network news (NBC, national news) they like to interview voters. They pick out a couple of Trump voters and a couple of Biden voters, ask them in a sentence or two to explain their thinking, etc. The Trumpsters bother me. The guy's all about the bandwagon, but there's nothing there. Just the bandwagon and a hash of lies.

I wish they would simply ask who are you for? Then ask can you examine their plan for improving our healthcare system. Alternatively ask both sides how many new coal jobs have been created in the past 4 years.

One of the people they interviewed last night was a woman in PA. She said Trump had promised them coal jobs returning. Then she said there's NO COAL IN PA NOW, PERIOD. She said she's voting for Biden.

I grew up in western PA and came from a long line of coal miners. I tried to tell my relatives tRump was using them as a prop, but they would not listen. Told them by the time his first term was done, there would less than before his term. They argued with me and voted for him. They are all sad now, but unfortunately some still think he had done good things. Amazing.

People don't like to admit they were taken in, and wrong. So, they'll rationalize their behavior. Hopefully they won't vote for him this time.

So here’s a possible election night scenario.....
It’s election night November 3rd 2020. Joe Biden is doing extremely well. Joe has won most of the so called swing states. Joe then wins Florida putting Joe over the 270 mark. So you’d think that Joe Biden has won the presidency? Right? But hold on a second.... Donald Trump refuses to concede, and instead Trump’s lawyers begin to challenge the results from Florida or Michigan or Pennsylvania or from all three with the intention of taking away enough of those EC awards from Joe and bring Joe Biden back down below that 270 mark. Trump lawyers know all that they need to do is nullify enough EC numbers from Joe Biden to flip the results over to Donald Trump. So it’s close, really close between the two candidates and between the EC numbers, and even though Joe Biden won the election by exceeding 270, Trump lawyers can then challenge just one state, or two states, or how many states it takes to strip away EC numbers from Joe Biden’s EC count. Thus it goes to the US Supreme Court deciding to disqualify one or two states due to perceived voter irregularities. Despite those irregularities can not be proven, the very challenge itself brings that state into question. Then, with no time for that state to sort it all out, not in due time as to avoid further delaying the overall election outcome, the high court rules in Donald Trump’s favor. Donald Trump thus ends up with more EC voters than did Joe Biden, maybe not the full 270 needed however enough EC numbers for Trump to exceed Biden. Add to that, the US Supreme Court then refusing to allow Florida or whatever the state was involved to recount ballots, period. The court refusing to allow because of the assumption of ballot inaccuracies. In other words, don’t ask and don’t tell and say hello to president elect Donald Trump.

This thread is worthless without poll

...uh, results. Poll results.
Please explain. Here's fine with me, if you want to take it to PM, that's OK too. I meant this to be broad, people can talk about the POTUS race, senatorial, congressional, local, trends, just anything related to the 2020 General Election, was my intention.

Poll results, you are talking about an Anandtech Forums poll or the myriad polling agencies? I don't see what they have to do with the returns.

I don't think the SC would do that. Posture though they might that they are technicians in interpreting the law they know which way the wind blows and they all realize on some level that doing those things they will be setting US on a course for disaster, short and long term. The insurrection that would ensue would dwarf what you've seen so far in 2020. Not gonna happen. Read my lips. OK, you can't see my lips, read my words.

Both. It's a joke. "This thread is worthless without poll" normally means an AnandTech Forums thread needs a poll added. "This thread is worthless without poll results" means that, until the polls close and return results, this thread is worthless.

*Sigh*

Yeah, kind of silly concept. I meant this thread to take off when the polls have started closing and returns start coming in. I jumped the gun, but here it is, hope this is a good spot to check out and add info to, hopefully meaningful info that won't waste people's time.

What they have on TV can be very repetitive, boring and sometimes probably not address the "writing on the wall." This is a good place to post the writing on the wall! Also, some very interesting pertinent info ... there's gonna be so much happening Nov. 3rd evening, the TV coverage can't begin to cover it all, it will be scattered coverage.

If Donald Trump doesn't get the full 270 needed to win, and the SC blocks Biden from getting 270, then the election goes to the House. The Twelfth Amendment says:

The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed; and if no person have such majority, then from the persons having the highest numbers not exceeding three on the list of those voted for as President, the House of Representatives shall choose immediately, by ballot, the President.

^This.

KY will prolly stay with the orange menace but the down ballot races matter. I've never voted straight party line before but put up a D on my ballot last week.
Yup.

4 days until the big one! Vote... vote early, vote Democratic!

Alas, no.
While each senator gets a vote for the vice president, the House vote is determined by state delegation rather than individual lawmaker—so each state, from Alaska’s one delegate to Texas’ 36 delegates, all only get one vote each.

Democrats have a majority in the House with individual lawmakers, but Republicans hold the majority of state delegations: 26 states have a GOP majority, 22 states have a Democratic majority, while there’s a tie in Pennsylvania and the Michigan delegation has seven Democrats, six Republicans and Independent Rep. Justin Amash.
