There is only so much money in the budget. The cost of hiring each person is substantial because every one has to go thru back ground checks etc. It's not like they can just take any Joe Shmoe off the street and say here, we will pay you a hair above minimum wage to count ballots, get to work. @ 1 minute per ballot from start to finish to count a ballot (open envelopes, remove, flatten, verifty, etc). it would take 694 days or 16666 man hours, to count 1 million ballots. That would take 700 people's worth of man hours, per million ballots, non stop to get them counted in 1 day. Now, do the math for 2,3....10 million ballots.

Sorry though, most are paid minimum wage.

IMO it's not enough. He needs at least 58.5%, probably more from Maricopa as it's the strongest Trump county left in AZ, and he gained 58%.

How much of a gain?

I believe they said 23 thou was released, not all remaining, just 23 thou. Trump gained 58 % of those. Trump gained some 13 thou and Biden gained 9 thou. I could be wrong, I wasn't paying close attention to the actual numbers from MSNBC. MSNBC seems worried for Biden because more votes expected from red areas of AZ.

This next vote drop from Allegheny County, expected anytime in the next couple hours, should push Pennsylvania solidly over 0.5% margin for Biden - which gets the election out of recount margin in Pennsylvania - and should lead to networks calling Pennsylvania finally. Policy of at least AP, and possibly other networks, is to not call the race if within recount margin.
