Culturally, it is tho

Can't say MI,WI, OH vote like PA, and PA borders New England and the Jersey shore.

As a true Westerner, I'm offended when we get lumped in with the Midwest.

Nah nah nah. Don't bring your fried cheese and Jello/celery/fruit salad dessert abominations over here.

Hatch chilies, tortillas de maiz, dank herb and craft beer or GTFO.
For the best part of the last 50 years Wisconsin has had some of the only real beer in The United States. All you really need is beer and brats.

It’s not weird, its a validation of the electoral process. I would rather candidates have to fight for every vote in various localities to build a coalition, as opposed to only having to hold mega rallies in LA, Houston and NYC to win the popular vote. It’s a nuanced way to balance a complex electorate.

That wouldn't win the popular vote.

Here is a question, why has the count stopped dead in GA for hours now?

With Biden 87,000 behind and only 80% of Atlanta and Savanna counted it seems they do not want to flip the state. Why? It's going to flip as soon as all of DeKalb is counted.

Is fuckery afoot in GA?
Found it. They stopped 10:30p last night. Resuming today.

So let me see if I have this right. Biden leads in WI, MI, AZ and NV. In each state, most of the outstanding vote is from the urban/dem areas. So that's 270? If so, then it looks like Biden barely pulled this off.

Would be nice if Biden wins PA and/or GA as gravy but I'll take any win at this point.

Yes. While Biden’s victory isn’t certain yet it looks like Trump has a very tough road to navigate to win.

They just made a press announcement. There are 200K votes left and they're all in the Atlanta suburbs. I predict Trump wins there by about 10K votes but it's still possible for Biden.

I just think there are options to address voting disenfranchisement. One option is looking to how ME and NE split electoral votes. A state like Kentucky with 8 electoral votes could give 2 to Fayette county (Lexington), 2 to Jefferson (Louisville), 2 to Northern Kentucky, and the remaining rural areas would get the other 2. Then you can at least cast a vote for president in one of the two largest cities in the state and it still actually means something.

Same goes for a state like Oregon (Or Washington and Seattle) where Multnomah (Portland) basically controls everything. Split the electoral to give a voice to the remaining part of the state which are *very* vocal.

I think we have ways around this. I don't think it's healthy for anyone to be sitting through challenges and recounts and just the uncertainty that 10,000 votes cast at a state level can mean for a national race. It's just insanity.

But if Democrats can't get the Senate, it's potentially better just letting system catastrophically fail. I'm being serious here. When will Democrats have such an opportune chance to get the Senate? Biden presidency without Senate control is set up to fail, and someone at least a little more competent than Trump is likely to be the next challenger.

What’s weird is that people always argue that the EC gives small states and rural areas a voice when that’s obviously untrue.

Small states? When was the last time a presidential candidate visited Rhode Islandor Wyoming? Rural areas? Why aren’t they visiting Idaho or West Virginia? This is all obvious, obvious nonsense.

What the electoral college does is substitute the will of the majority of voters nationwide for the will of voters in about a half dozen states. If you think the concerns of Ohio are more important than the concerns of New York and California I would like to hear why.

Heh. Trump will go for the Grover Cleveland route, unless he's in prison or in exile. He owns the GOP base, heart & soul. Stole them away, he did.

I'm all in for breaking up electorals so states can award fractionals to each candidate. Also in on national mail in voting for all.
Tribalism is breaking us as a country and our current method isn't exactly improving things. We are putting winning an entire state on far to high of a pedestal for us to survive.

That’s not how our Constitution works, by design

It was a more complicated decision. But that time is over. I think a compromise where the states still get 2 senators while the president is chosen by direct representation should be worked out.

Trump is like that loud, stupid girl with big tits all the BOYZ are after.

We're the flat chested liberals, trying to get by on integrity and substance.

In High School, and our collective polity does not rise above this measure of maturity, Big Boobed Bertha has more appeal than the rest of us can comprehend.
