in Wisconsin? There were 3,684,726 registered voters in Wisconsin as of Nov. 1, per the state’s own records, and currently 3,296,836 votes reported, per ABC

That is a huge 89.5 % of registered voters

Congratulations Wisconsin Voters.

That is a huge number... plus i think the numbers you posted was with 95% of the votes in ... so that 89.5% will go up some..... I think Wi typically has turnout in the 65-70% range for the past few elections

I started getting a pit in my stomach about 9:30 PST. Later, there was a report that Donnie was going to make some kind of victory speech. I took sleeping medication for the first time in about 2 years. In the morning, it took me a while to turn on the TV in dread. Thankfully, it's looking like Biden's going to pull this out. Dems did not take the Senate, and Lindsey Graham still has a political life. So, I'm actually, still very depressed. This country is still fucked up.

Trump keeps on tweeting away, conveying his spluttering outrage at votes actually being counted after the first few. If he had his way every state would presumably be won on the basis of whichever voter got to the polls first. I guess such a system would make for an exciting four-yearly 'race to the polling station'. Kind of like the last part of the Blues Brothers movie, or one of those Burt Reynold's car-chase movies.

2020 wasn’t supposed to be the year they would pick up. The map wasn’t the best, sure better than 2018. 2022 has a better map politically and geographically.
Maybe not, but 2020 is an order of magnitude more important being a district redrawing year. Look at all the gerrymandering that happened in 2010.

We should also note that this design was explicitly made in order to protect the institution of slavery.
OTOH, the federalist system also help to protect the integrity of our elections. Imagine what the outcome here might have been if the federal govt controlled the Presidential election, rather than the States.

Or the Russians and GOP found an effective way of using those registered voters who didn't actually vote to their advantage.

State Houses do that and yeah the Dems didn’t do what they thought they were going to do.

Ugh. The popular vote & the EC gave the same result between 1888 & 2000 so it wasn't an issue.
That is not true.

First off, for the first few Presidential elections they didn't even have a popular vote. The Constitution tells the states to select their presidential electors however they see fit and almost all of them choose to let their state senate choose.

The first election that used popular vote to choose the electors was in 1824 when 18 of the 29 States held a popular vote for their electors. The Result was that Andrew Jackson won the popular vote, but was not able to pick up enough electoral collage votes to win, nor was any of the other candidates. In the end the House of Representatives elected John Quincy Adams, who had the second most votes. It upset Andrew Jackson and his followers so much that they left the party and created a new political party The Democratic Party.

There was also Rutherford B. Hayes in 1876 and Benjamin Harrison in 1888 both lost the popular vote but won in the Electoral Collage.

From what I'm seeing, Trump no longer has a viable path to 270, as NV, AZ, and WI are in the bag for Biden, and Trump still loses even if he wins PA, NC, and GA.

Trump also use fear of "Socialism" quite effectively. I think this is mainly how he carried Florida, convincing Latinos that Biden would cave to the "radical left" and turn the country socialist.

He tied Biden, the radical left and their move to socialism to Castro and Cuba. Very effective.

Am I confused? Surely saying "Trump has no path to 270" is the same thing as saying "Biden is certain to get 270"?

You didn't mention Michigan, though. If Biden has NV, WI and Michigan he's made it, no? Is that not how it works?

Good point the White house is acting like it has been called:
Trump’s campaign manager has announced that the campaign will be asking for a recount in Wisconsin.
From the NYT Live Election Page:

Reid Epstein, in Madison, Wis. 29m ago
The margin needs to be less than 1 percent for a recount in Wisconsin. Trump will have to pay about $3 million for it unless the margin is less than one quarter of 1 percent.
See Wisconsin results ›

$3M for the recount? Better get that in advance since since it's Trump we're talking about here.

But if Democrats can't get the Senate, it's potentially better just letting system catastrophically fail. I'm being serious here. When will Democrats have such an opportune chance to get the Senate? Biden presidency without Senate control is set up to fail, and someone at least a little more competent than Trump is likely to be the next challenger.
You think there will be a fair election in 2024 if Trump wins?
