Thanks for the confirmation.

Someone in the video section said maybe the PC isn't even post'ing. I can't recall if I hear a beep or not when the PC first boots up.

I have 2 audio cables coming from the front panel in my case, a P180. One is labeled HD Audio and the other is AC97. If I connect either of these up to the FP-Audio jack on the IP35, does that hook up the speaker? I just want to make sure the speaker is working.

Those cables connect the audio ports on the case which you would then plug external speakers into.
a case speaker would plug into the FP header section of the board but I'm not sure that the P182 has a case speaker - I
helped a friend build a system into an Antec 900 the other day & that didn't have one.

when you try to boot do you seee any fans start to spin, does the green VCC LED come on at all etc.?

Yeah, I don't think the P182 has a speaker either, so I may be back to not even knowing if this thing is post'ing or not.

Yeah, the motherboard lights up. Green VCC light is on. All of the case fans (3), PSU fans and video card fans are spinning. I swapped out some RAM I had, but that didn't change anything. Although I don't even know if that's good or not. I guess it could be the CPU? I don't have a spare one, so that's going to be a PITA to test.

BIOS 18 is final & is dated 30th May 2008.

Info on how to flash an abit either from floppy or USB memory stick http://www.theraptorpit.com/fo...dex.php?showtopic=2628

The site works but the links on that site go in circles and there is no download for any of the flash packages, just tutorials how to work the software.
Anyone have a site where the flash tools package can be downloaded?

Thanks I am downloading it as I type the Thank you

it provides a tutorial plus (at least for the USB section) provides links to the HP disk format utility & the necessay DOS files for setting up & flashing from an USB memory stick.

As for the BIOS packages that would be from 1 of abit's servers & they usually include AWDFlash.
i already included a link earlier in this thread to ftp://ftp.abitshop.com/pub/bios/ip35//m630a18.zip .

I have this motherboard in my son's Antec Sonoma III case running Vista and it will not work with the esata port on the front of the case. I'm using the latest bios and have tried using another sata port that I had another drive on and have even replace the front panel on the case with a new one from Antec but still doesn't see the drive. Antec said it could be a AHCI issue but this board does not support it and I 'm not installing the esata device "hot". I know the esata device (hard drive in a thermaltake max 4 case) works as I'm using it on my other computer. Also when I do have it hooked up and turn computer in it takes forever for it to boot when its looking for device on boot up but when it does get to windows the device is not being seen.Any ideas? Thanks

Update: Just thought of something, on my computer running Abit P35 pro and Vista 64 I have a cheap memory card reader with a esata port that this esata drive case will not work on and (yeas the cable is plugged in the motherboard) regardless using IDE or AHCI mode but if I hook it up to one of the esata parts built on the motherboard on the back side it works...what gives? The thermaltake max 4 has issues with going from esata to sata since all those esata connector on the front of the case converts to a sata plug for plugging into the motherboard?

So now looks like problem is not the mother board but the TT esata/usb enclosure

Great board. I love it. Overclocked my E6550 to 3.4 Ghz no problem; Stock voltages, and cooler. Cut that down to 2.8Ghz for 1:1 with the memory during the summer, and it has been running that since. No problem what-so-ever(hardware related that is).

Now, since we've gone 100% RE (renewable energy), I have to underclock/undervolt it to keep it from draining our batteries dry in a few hours. Even with only a 9600GT, and 4GB of 1.8v memory it sucks down 168-ish watts from the wall while idle(220W-ish while playing WiC maxed). Anyhow, I have read that the BIOS will not allow the user to under volt, but I will find out for myself tomorrow when I do what I can to get this 'beast' using less power. If I can get that combo using less than 89W(including a 19" LCD monitor), then I'll have beat this system here from which I am now making this post.

Just for informational purposes, this is an ABIT NF-M2 nView, an AM2 1210 Opteron clocked down to 1.1Ghz(via a 5x multiplier), 2GB Corsair XMS 6400(@ 1.9v) and a single 3.5" 40GB Seagate barracuda. I doubt I can beat this with a discrete video card in that system, but I'll find out tomorrow

Last year I bought an Abit IP35-E motherboard but never got around to installing it. Last week I bought an Intel E7200 CPU and I thought I'd install in the IP35-E mobo. I should have done some research prior to buying the cpu, but apparently, the IP35-E mobo doesn't appear to support the E7200 cpu without the later BIOS revision. My question is: How do I update the bios of this board if the only Intel CPU I have is the E7200? Would I need to buy and install a supported CPU and then update the bios...then switch out the cpu's?

Last night I installed the E7200, memory, and video card in the IP35-E. I apparently have a problem as when I power on the system, the cpu fan spins for a couple of seconds, then stops. It will continue this sequence until I power down the system. I don't get any video out on my monitor during the boot up process. Any idea's? Would the unsupported E7200 in the board be causing this impropper startup or perhaps I have a bad board. Any comments or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

you could either:
buy/borrow a CPU that was supported by your existing BIOS, install it & flash to the latest & then swap CPUs
get a new BIOS chip with the latest BIOS already flashed to it & swap BIOS chips (if you then hotflashed the old 1 you would have a spare in the future)
[if you know anyone with a board that uses the same BIOS chip you could ask them to hotflash your existing BIOS chip]

Well everyone, my IP35-E died AGAIN! I think I am only allowed to have an awesome computer for 4 months in a row, or maybe only 10/12 months. I no longer get a post/video signal (again). I don't think this board was designed for a quad core or I just got a terrible board. It is even a 45nm quad so it shouldn't be like I'm running too much juice through it... Ok I'm rambling, just thought I'd vent and let you all know about more failing. It just died after turning it off and then back on, never came back on.

I'm having trouble with my board reading the proper temp of my E8400. The idle reading stays at 98C. At first I thought I was seating the HSF wrong, but research showed this to be a false reading. My core temps sit at 26C and 32C. I've disabled all my temps alarms to keep my computer from freaking out, but has anyone found a fix for this problem? I'm concerned how not having an accurate temp will affect my OC'ing.

I've been reading that there is a persistent problem with the IP35's properly reading the temps of E0 e8400s. I hate to replace my board, but it looks like with Abit's financial woes, we won't ever be seeing a fix. I purchased a Gigabyte EP45-DS3L today.

The board as I recall was not designed for quad cores. I do not remember where I read this, but I am fairly certain.

ABIT is supposedly supporting their products for another 3 years. I have not tested this theory as I have no personal need.

Sorry for the late reply kashk - Yep I was doing 1.5v for 3.3ghz but gave up in the end as PWM temps were through the roof when priming (90c+). Oh yeah don't forgot about the vdroop also.

I've swapped it out for a e8500 since as I didn't like the quad punishing my mobo like that

Don't worry then. Ignore that big number and just watch your core temps. That is what I do with my 610i/7050 chipset motherboard, it has no CPU reading just cores.
