E5x00 M0 stepping works fine with 18 BETA. Note that the SYSTEM fan header does not work properly (speed control) with 18 BETA. The CPU fan header is okay.

I am facing another strange problem , i got to see my bios version is "00" , ... and i need help to flash from a usb pen drive , i refered the link but cant figure out what is to be edited

once you see the "C:" prompt, you follow the same above procedures for flashing from a floppy disk....don't forget to edit the RUNME.BAT and ABITFAE.BAT as stated above.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/f...2397392&postcount=2023

please refer to the pics below where the bios version is displayed

they will always double boot first boot after a BIOS flash or having all power disconnected - it's just part of the way that the P35 chipset works.

I didnt know there were users of this mobo -- im using it with a E2160 and have an old bios - am kind of hesitant to update the bios in fear of other issues being caused. i do need some help in overclocking.

These are the settings I have in the Motherboard Bios - need to get input if these are safe.

External Clock : 333 Mhz
Multiplier: 9
DRAM Speed: 1:1.00
PCI Express: 100 Mhz

CPU Core Voltage: 1.485
DDR2 Voltage: 2.00
CPU U77 Voltage: 1.2
ICH 1.50 Voltage: 1.50
MCH 1.25 Voltgage: 1.25
CPU GTLRE: 63%

The hardware I have is:

E2160
Abit IP35-E Motherboard
Antec 430 Earthwatts
Nvidia 7900GS
500gb Seagate
1.5 TB Seagate
4GB Crucial DDR2 667 Ram

I ran Prime95 for an hour, and it seemed to pass the blended test fine with no workers stopped. My Idle CPU speed is between 36, System is 36C, GPU is 65C.

This is based on SpeedFan 4.39.

My concern was raising the CPU Core Voltage to 1.485, but that is the only setting that would allow me to be stable without crashing or rebooting. I tried all CPU Core Voltage under it and it would crash.

I was able to get 2.8ghz at CPU Core Voltage 1.38 stable.

The setting in the Bios for the Fan are enabled and Auto to what Abit has defaults.

Any input if I should make any other setting changes or my settings now at a stable system are fine?

Thanks

I'm having trouble with my Abit Ip35-E , i seems that it doesnt like Western Digital Drives ( Caviar Green editions )

it started 7 months ago when i bought a 500gb WD Green , HDD access was soo slow on that drive.. but it works on other Pc's just fine , i had it replaced with a samsung 500gb

yesterday i bought a 1Tb WD Green , and i got the same issues... HDD access is the same as the previous problem... file transfer would start at 70-80mb and drop down to 5-7mb after 5-6 seconds

so my question is why ? it seems that others don't have this problem , and Samsung/Seagate drivers works ,problem is that i already backed up 800gb worth of data on that drive using another pc

tried different OS (xp,vista,win7)

I am having a strange issue with my IP35-E and I am stumped. I currently run an 8800 GTS video card and everything is fine. I bought a new Evga GTX 260/216 pop it in and the thing wont POST, No video output and no beeps of any kind. I tested the card in another machine and it fires up fine. I even Tried a brand new 650w antec power supply to rule out the power. I have tried 3 bios rev. and am currently running version 18 bios. I beginning to think this MB is just not compatible. Any Ideas would be really appreciated.

I am not sure if my memory is serving me correctly, but I seem to remember that the CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX PSU does not play nice with the IP35 Pro. Can anyone confirm? Thanks in advance.

I have an Abit IP35V with a E2180 overclocked to 3ghz. I've been kinda looking for an upgrade. I got my eyes on a E8400 or Q9550. Will those CPU's work with my motherboard and what kind of general overclock can I expect?

Thanks,

Ryan

Tch0rT, with the E2180 do you feel you have a bus or memory limit? That's what I suspect, that the o'c with a different CPU will essentially boil down to the multiplier x the same ceiling bus and memory speeds already limiting you.

I'm a gamer and I want to upgrade to an ATI 5850 or 5870 sometime soon and I've been told my E2180 even overclocked to 3ghz is a bottleneck. The E2180 has been very good to me especially considering the price, I'm kinda hoping the extra L2 cache of the E8400 and Q9550 would make it a bit more snappy.

my guess would be tha tthe PWM would probably be the limiting factor as that board just wasn't built for overclocking let alone overclocking quads.

^ valid point, but it does overclock reasonably, so it's a matter of the total current, or as many like to equate, total wattage. It should at least be good for 140W which is a pretty fair o'c of a modern budget-class CPU. Basically at that level higher ripple will cause higher peak voltage, you'll just need a little better heatsink than on a much more expensive (VRM designed) board, given ample airflow over the VRM area, it should still be a fair value to reuse for CPUs it supports.

an IP35-E is only good for ~3.4GHz on a Q6600 under normal conditions for 24/7 use (yes, with larger sinks/better cooling you'll squeeze more) & the IP35V's PWM design isn't as well specced as the -E.

I'm not looking to get like 4ghz out of a E8400 or Q9550. I just want to make sure if I go with an ATI 5850 or so that it's not bottlenecked really.

After waisting a whole lot of time and money, it looks like my Crucial Ballistix died... from what I can figure 3 of 4 sticks....

RMAd 3 sets...sold all the new sets on eBay. Crucial really left me wondering with that junk!

Hey everyone, I am trying to flash my bio to the newest release, 18. I have read a thread on how to flash the bios, but I would like to clear each step up so I do not mess up. If anyone has suggestion or comments, feel free to chime in. I would like to do this w/ a USB drive. I am going to install a Q9550 and it will be replacing an E2180. I think I am suppose to turn off the emergency shut down for max temperature because it gives faulty readings.

Most of the instructions I found here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/f...2397392&postcount=2023

1. Prepare the USB with the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool - v2.1.8 found here. HP Tool

1a. Also download the Win98 System Files here: Win 98 Sys Files

2. Open the HP USB Disk Storage Format tool, select your USB drive, check FAT, check Quick Format, check "Create a DOS Startup disk", check "using DOS System files located at": - browse to where you extracted the Windows System files. Then Press Start. Say yes to deleting everything.

3. Now your USB Drive is ready for flashing the bios.

4. Download the lastest Bio release at: Abit Bios updates

5. Put the files you downloaded onto the USB Drive, there should be 5 files: abitfae.bat, awdflash.exe, m630a_18.bin, m630a_18.txt, runme.bat. Make sure to put these files at the root directory, and not in any folders.

Question, am I suppose to see the boot files from the Win 98 System files I downloaded in the USB Drive. When I did the HP Utility with the boot files, nothing shows up in my USB Drive.

6. Now here is the part where I am a bit confused, maybe..
When you turn on the computer, you go into the bios set up and select the computer to boot from a USB Drive (boot this first). After this, will the computer be in MS DOS, and will it have A:\ prompt or F:\ prompt? Or just whatever the USB Drive is selected as. And do I just have to type in "RUNME.BAT" without the quotes? After I type this, do I just select whatever prompt it asks? After the Bio is flashed, do I just take out the USB drive and let it start normally?

Thanks for the help!

A couple of things:

1.) I've read a thousand different posts everywhere about enabling AHCI on this board. I was wondering if someone could give me a definitive answer on if it's possible, and if I should even do it. About to do a clean install of Windows 7 x64, and if it's worth turning on ACHI, I'd like to do that before I do.

2.) I recently hooked up a Seagate FreeAgent XTreme 500GB External USB drive to my system, and on the bios screen, it generally sits for 60-90 seconds longer if I have that drive plugged in. Wondering if there's a way to eliminate that pause. It's not a huge deal since I don't often reboot, but it's annoying when it happens.

Thanks for any help!
