1.) The bios does not even present the option to turn on AHCI, which really does kind of suck. Any time I've searched for information about it, all I see is stuff about the IP35 Pro, which does support AHCI.

Is anyone else having a problem on a IP35-E and the 18b1 BIOS not showing either the multipliers or Virtualization for an E8400 E0? That's the problem I'm having.

I used the m630a.bin BIOS image which was indicated from a post here sometime during this past summer. Now that I've done more searching I see there is one identified as M630A_18.B01.zip, and another as m630a_18b1.bin. All from different sites. Are they all the same? The one I am using does show an 18b1 in the string when it boots up, but now I'm not so sure if there isn't more than one version floating around.

The "official" Bios 18 has the same MD5 checksum as the V18 Beta 1 floating around.

There is a newer version 18 Beta 2 bios available.

Replay, thanks. Do you know if this one has working multipliers and Virtualization?

Well, it does! Thanks again!

Hi, I got Q8300 recently but I was unable to get it running with official BIOS 18 - the computer was not booting at all. Following the advise here I upgraded BIOS to 18 BETA 2 but it did not help much - when I power it up, the fans and drives start to spin, fan on gfx spins at full speed.

It seems this board does not support this processor

E5200 R0 had better luck booting with the official bios 18 (same as beta 1), although I lost the multiplier setting. Very touchy on the bench, taking multiple power cycles to boot at all. And more likely to boot if left alone for a while. I'd probably been better off if it were the older M0 stepping, as that seems to have worked without issues for some.

Try either bios with 1 stick of ram. Plug a molex power plug into the ATX4P1 socket (next to PCIE-1 slot) which seems to help it boot. When you do get into the bios, try starting with very loose ram timings (as much as 6-8-8-22-44 2t). I bumped the MCH up to 1.410, the ICH to 1.60, VCore to 1.3875 for overclocking. Eventually put the ram on a 1 to 1.5 ratio. Happy to say this $43 chip turns on every day and purrs along on air at 3875 Mhz prime95 stable (12.5 x 310). Runs fine, but I would re-install an older chip before doing any bios flashing.

Thanks for the tips! Tried already to boot with only one stick but no luck anyway. ATX1P4 is connected.

I will try to return the processor and buy either Q9400 or Q6600 (Q9550 is twice as expensive here as Q8300 so it does not make any sense to me to go for it).

Happy New Year!!

I stopped getting output to my monitor. Took battery out and discharged the bios and put back in the battery replaced the cap back to the original setting, no output to the monitor.

Put in a different video card, no output to monitor. Tried a different monitor, no change, replaced the old monitor and video card. Pulled out ram and put it back in, no output to monitor.

This board has been giving me problems from the beginning, I am not over clocking, using E8400 duo instead of Q6600. Not overclocking, Raptor drive messed up replsced it with a 40 gig Sata, 3 months ago, Ram died 8 months ago repaced it with Kingston 4 gig DDR 600.

Any ideas?

is anyone using a q9550 e0 with this mobo? I'm getting bored of this dual now and GTAIV and dragon age origins doesn't run smooth enough for my standards even at 4.2ghz (1.46vcore bios ).

Tung you're still having problems it seems

Think I might just get an i5 750 setup and be done with it. Should only cost about £350 and then sell this lot for £170?

meh I ended up buying a q9550 e0 tonight - in the middle of linpack testing 3.2ghz at stock volts 19/20 done.

vcore selection is strange with the 18beta2 bios as the lowest i can select is 1.30v. Hope to hit 3.4/3.6ghz

seems stable at 3.6ghz with 1.38v bios (1.32windows). GTAIV is really smooth now and dragon age has a bit of improvement. Other games don't seem to have any improvement though - I could of almost bought an ati 5850 and have better performance overall D:

It would appear that Wolfdale's DO work on the IP35-E with the final BIOS. I have a E2180, thinking of upgrading, but maybe that 5850 is a better choice?

Depends what resolution you play at and which games really. I game at 1900x1200 so cpu doesn't come into for most games bar a few like GTAIV. I expected the quad to help in l4d2 but not at this res

Does anyone know if the BIOS 18 works on the IP35V? I have BIOS 13 and I can't get my Q9550 to boot with the IP35V.

Edit I haven't tried the BIOS that was previously listed for me (just reread it LOL).. I'll try it later.

I just purchased a couple of E6500s to upgrade my wife's and my machines from E2160s. After attempting to put it in my machine I got the 98C temp problem. Thought I screwed something up, now realize it's the v15 BIOS.

I'll try updating the BIOS this weekend and report back how things went.

My son's IP35-E died a premature death. His landlord had his apartment's wiring worked on and the DA electrician somehow spliced one of the hot wires to a ground wire. Luckily only the MB got fried. Landlord was nice enough to take the cost of a new MB off his rent. He replaced it with a Gigabyte P45 MB.
Up until then it was working flawlessly with a Q6600 GO @ 3.6Ghz.

Used the beta BIOS Replay linked to above, everything works perfectly. Now to upgrade my wife's machine.

Update: Updated the BIOS on my wife's machine, thought I bricked it at first because it didn't boot. Did a CMOS clear and it booted up fine, running fine now.

On a related note, the 18 beta BIOS seems to have cleared up the double boot problem.

Video card died yesterday with popped capacitors. Plugged in an old vga card into the PCI slot. POSTed okay. Blank screen after Windows logo display. Same when booting into linux, blank screen when you expect login page. Monitor is ON (green light) and seems to be getting signal.

Abit IP35-E, 2x1GB G.Skill DDR2-800, evga nvidia 7600GT, antec earthwatts 380, Intel E2160, 15" CRT display, Win XP Pro SP3 + linux mint 7 on dual boot

Bios is accessible. I have it set to Failsafe defaults. The boot loader is working and allows dual boot. Unable to get into windows in any mode (safe or regular). Blacks out after windows logo when login screen needs to appear.

Linux detected the change in video hardware and gave me an option to change settings. I chose the generic driver. It then took me up to the login screen. But logging in causes the desktop to be displayed for a second and then automatically reverts to login screen.

Out of frustration I plugged back in the damaged evga card and it allowed me into windows once. Suspecting the nvidia driver, I uninstalled it from the device manager. That didn't resolve the blank screen problem. The problem still persists when the PCI card is plugged in. Also the evga card is now totally dead and system just gives long beeps and doesn't even display POST message.

TIA for your suggestions.

The beeps could be memory issues and these boards along with the other IP35's had some memory issues try reseating or use 1 stick and see if that helps. Also depending on you memory you have to increase the voltage, default will not cut it with some sticks as the manufactures have it so you need to overvolt it so it works. I have had 3 of these boards in 3 different machines in the last few years. None of this is new but not sure you read all the posts

Memory seems less suspicious to me as the beeps occur only when the EVGA card is in the PCIe x16 slot. When replaced by an older VGA card plugged into PCI slot, I'm able to get past POST and boot loader. Also I ran memtest86+ for 20mins especially the 'block move 64 moves' test. No fails reported. The rams have been reseated and interchanged. What I haven't tried is booting with 1 stick. I could try that. Also these RAM sticks have been working at the default voltage for past 2 yrs.

I installed win 7. This helped with near no crashing, but the driver for the HD real-tech on board sound card is not letting me mix music and voice, so I can narate in a chat channel and then play the music.

It ie either Voice or music not both...

Anyone using win 7 and has managed to overcome this problem? Or found a better driver? I upgraded the driver so now it shows the mixer but not able to narrate and play music, which XP can do but XP crashes me too much

Wow, it's quite an old thread now

I have recently connected two USB keyboards to my IP35-E and they work perfectly except that... system does not boot up with two keyboards connected to MB. System stops after displaying "Memory testing".
Workaround is to disconnect one keyboard for booting and then reconnect it a bit later. I have tried changing USB settings for keyboard but with no success either.

Anyone had the same issue? Any thoughts?

A couple of things:

1.) I've read a thousand different posts everywhere about enabling AHCI on this board. I was wondering if someone could give me a definitive answer on if it's possible, and if I should even do it.
Thanks for any help!
