I see the game is on Steam now. Did that just go up? Still telling myself I'm not buying this game until I finish my system upgrade next month. But reading these posts... it's hard man.

I heard that. Not only do I want it, my kids are begging for me to get it as well (14 & 11). Not too pleased about an M rating and my 11 year old. She just likes to make characters though. They love Oblivion.

That would be...EPIC D:

BethSoft did say the DLCs would be definitively meaningful.

My god, this is DISGUSTING, can this game possibly get ANY BETTER?@?! D:

I was thinking along same lines. I never really played any of the previous elderscroll games before oblivion, I would love having morrowind on the skyrim engine

Has anybody ever found something valuable in sacks or barrels?

Lots of places have alchemy ingredients in the barrels, especially any cave populated by casters (witches, vampires, etc). I've found rare and expensive ingredients in barrels, so I keep checking them despite the fact that 95% have nothing but cabbage and apples

am i a retard (possibly) or do they simply not have all shops in all towns? Some towns have a couple kind of stores and others have different ones, and its a pain in the ass to go to a town to sell my shit and walk around forever, go through a trillion loading screens, and find out there isnt any of the type of store im looking for.

^^Not all towns have shops. For me, Whiterun is really the best place overall to sell stuff.

Barrels may also have the occasional potion, especially in caves with magic users. Feel glad though...Oblivion made you check the crates too.

Have you 4 core guys had many CTDs?

This is such a big difference I have a hard time believing there is no CTD relation. I mean, obviously there is going to be a performance difference as well ....

Yes. However, my crashing was related to my onboard sound card drivers and something to do with skyrim. I updated them and it has been fine since. Used to have to blast my speakers to get semi-decent sound too but thats gone.

edit: It seems like a lot of people with Realtek drivers are having problems. Just uninstall them and use the windows default HD driver.

I put about 10 hours into it.

First 8 hours: Completely blown away by the static 'no loading' world. It's god damn beautiful too, I haven't been this immersed in a game world for quite sometime.

9-15 hours: Playing on and excited for upcoming spells and abilities

16hours-now: I'm suddenly grew tired. The game doesn't afford you much variety in gameplay. I've been doing the same shield punt & slash since level 1. I"m level 15 now and got the first dragon shout... which doesn't really do much in battles.

It's bit funny in the middle of a swing, I can pause and eat a feast of a meal to replenish 80% of my HP. It's hilarious and a dumb mechanic.

You should just buy it, i hate magic, swords and all that crap but skyrim is really really fun, im having a blast  This is right up there with fallout 3 and new vegas IMO.

Oh, anyone else having these problems:

- Intermittent CTD, no errors just an insta close? Plentiful saving helps alleviate this as it dosent happen frequently enough to ruin the game.

- Minimizing not working properly? I cant minimize unless there is another window to alt+tab into, it wont minimize to the desktop alone so i have to ctrl+alt+del to bring up task manager and use that. Also to maximize the game i must maximize it normally to get the black screen that does nothing then ctrl+alt+del and hit enter twice, or ctrl+alt+del and click task manager.

- Flying grass? Sometimes grass is hovering above the ground a bit, usually on a hill.

^^I get the instant CTD rarely...four times so far in almost 60 hours. Happens during fast travel, usually when there's still some accessing going on.

The tab-out issue is intermittent. I get around it by accessing Steam community first.

why would you put mixes of stuff like cabbage and apples in a barrel? i thought it was usually things like wheat, flour, rice, beans..etc went in barrels like that.

Overall. It's exactly what it was hyped up to be. This is really saying something too.

I have been VERY jaded for quite some time, and figured this was going to be just another game (although really hoping of a good oblivion sequel). The game is immersive, the world huge and beautiful...and this is VANILLA version!

I can hardly imagine what the modding community is going to do with this..

I would not hesitate to buy this game again for the full price of 60 dollars. This is coming from someone who barely will spend 10-20 dollars on a decent game. If your on the fence...just buy it..there are so many ways to play the game..you decide.

As far as I'm concerned..I'm going to do a full play through several different ways.

-2h Zerker
-SpellBlade (Conjured weapons and minions, Melee based)
-Thief
-Full out Mage

Has anyone tried playing a dual wield with light armor build? I'd love to go for a theif/assassin who dual wielded daggers, just not sure how viable it is since you have almost no way to take damage.

In hardcore mode in Fallout: New Vegas (maybe FO3 as well, not sure), all healing items (not just food items, but health packs and everything else as well) would only cause healing over time rather than instant heals. I think that would be a great mod addition, up the difficulty a bit.
