Has anyone tried playing a dual wield with light armor build? I'd love to go for a theif/assassin who dual wielded daggers, just not sure how viable it is since you have almost no way to take damage.

I think you will have a lot of trouble early and mid game unless you drop the difficulty level down really low. Late game it could certainly be viable with the right skills and perks, with max level alchemy, enchanting, smithing, light armor, and one-handed skills with a lot of perks dropped into them, you could certainly pull it off with some heavily upgraded and enchanted gear.

I put about 10 hours into it.

First 8 hours: Completely blown away by the static 'no loading' world. It's god damn beautiful too, I haven't been this immersed in a game world for quite sometime.

9-15 hours: Playing on and excited for upcoming spells and abilities

16hours-now: I'm suddenly grew tired. The game doesn't afford you much variety in gameplay. I've been doing the same shield punt & slash since level 1. I"m level 15 now and got the first dragon shout... which doesn't really do much in battles.

yeah, pretty much how i felt about the previous TES games. I'm about 27 hours into Skyrim now though and its still pretty fun. Went mostly mage this time though.

You should just buy it, i hate magic, swords and all that crap but skyrim is really really fun, im having a blast :thumbsup: This is right up there with fallout 3 and new vegas IMO.

I love magic, swords, and all that crap . But after waiting for this game for so long, I hate to experience it for the first time on my E8500/GTS250 setup .

It's not looking like it, at least for now. My game barely uses for than 600mb of VRAM with all the mods I have installed.

You know the best part about this game? Laughing my ass off at all my friends who bought and are sick of BF3 while I happily play skyrim with the other rpg fans in our vent.

I would just because other games might use it, specially if BF3 or Crossfiring is anywhere in your list of things to do.

I personally regret not getting 2GB HD 6950s for my xFire setup.

My jarl has been replaced by sorli the builder... I distinctly remember some old bat who claimed to be psychic as the jarl, what happened to her?

Also whats so dangerous about the swamp?

I think I've seen mine get up to 900-1000MB VRAM according to GPU-Z. Running at 1920x1080, no high res textures or mods or anything, just vanilla. That's with AA/AF maxed I think, though, which can eat up loads of memory.

2GB isn't much more expensive, might as well get it IMO. Don't think current games really need it, but couldn't hurt to be a bit more future proof.

steam isn't loading the game. it's sitting at "preparing to launch"

I had that issue tonight too. I tried killing steam and got a steam cloud sync message. Eventually I just killed it, restarted steam, then skyrin and got right in. I am not sure if cloud save games are setup for skyrim, but if so my upload is so slow it would definitely cause cloud sync slowdowns. Anyways hope you got yours figured out man.

Ha! Saw my first decapitations today as Drusilla's dremora lord went to town on a bunch of bandit thugs. She's level 29. Her conjuration is now 92, destruction 53. Illusion is low at 24 but I'll find a way for her to soon raise it, maybe spend some money on the relevant trainer. Sneak is now above 70. Still wearing no armour. Damn the archmage robe is ugly. Promptly a mod to change it, please... Can't wait for conjuration to reach 100 and then she'll have two 150% dremora lords or strom atronachs as bodyguards. Bet they'll enjoy slaughtering mage groups.

Is wabbajack in the game like other daedric artifacts? Can I wabbajack Alduin into a bunny like what I did Mehrunes Dagon in Oblivion?

Elemental fury shout is awesome! Blades move fast as lightening and take down stuff in seconds. Course it does help to have an ebony sword at 47, and a glass at 44, with another fire enchanted ebony for backup..:sneaky:

Started a thief/hunter character recently (Argonian named Sneaks-Quietly, had a similar character in Oblivion as well ). Being an assassin is pretty fun with the new 15x sneak damage bonus for daggers and kill shot animations. Strangely satisfying to sneak up behind an NPC and slit their throat.

Drusilla's storm atronach just took a frost dragon down by itself while she watched, in the mage college courtyard. Lucky I guess this time. Usually she needs a couple of atronachs now to kill dragons matched to her level 30. Also summoning more than once per battle helps increase the skill faster but it was fun to just watch the battle unfold this time. Dremora lords are great once a dragon lands. A bit stupid and overly agressive but definitely fearless with a taste for blood. Of course, now that her atronachs are 50% more powerful, that really helps and soon she'll have two.

I just wanted to test something in Whiterun, and I ended up fighting (for the heck of it) in The Bannered Mare. There's a guy there I never noticed before...

His name is Sam Guevenne, he wears a black mages robe, and under normal circumstances (when there's no fight going on, which I tested after I "discovered" him) he asks you to take part in a drinking contest against him. I haven't tried the drinking contest itself, I just wanted to see his dialog. Now the thing is I went back to the previous save when the fight inside the Bannered Mare was still going (me, Lydia and a Battle-Born guy fighting with me for some reasons). So that guy, Sam, he was just running around trying to simply avoid the actual fights. I was curious, so I attacked him (shouted at him, I used the first shout we get from that scripted dragon at the western Watchtower). Bad move...

I won't spoil too much even with the spoiler tag, but if you guys ever attack him, be prepared to die, unless you're level... like... 30+? I'd imagine, or at least around that. When I saw what the guy was and what he could do I had a good laugh, he's ridiculously powerful (well, both directly and indirectly, you'll see, if you try). Good thing that saved game is just there for some tests (just checking around if specific fights can force the game to CTD since I'm doing some stability tests).

Anyway, back to testing.

Ugh, I'm not getting any framerate improvements from the Profile for Oblivion for my Crossfired 6870s. No matter what I do, both my cards aren't even being used more than 50% with framerates around 35-40. I guess I'll just continue on in limp mode. The game is calling me to play and stop puttering around with its settings anyways.

It's amusing to see what IGN had to say about the game's interface:

Oblivion's quaint notebook-style high-fantasy quest log was charming but amazingly impractical. It's been jettisoned entirely in favour of a clean, mostly black and white, modern-looking menu system that makes the exceptional complex business of handling stats, hundreds of items, quests and magic elegant and simple. It's perfect. Interface design in other games has a lot to learn from this. The only negative is that it's not quite as fun to use on PC as it is on console.

I shudder to think what the modding community is going to do with a woman that sits alone in your bedroom in Whiterun (assuming you've bought the house there) waiting for you to return...

On a certain quest (main questline), you're told to go to a certain location, and asked by 2 NPCs whether you want to meet them there or have them accompany you on the journey.

I chose the latter option, but I went to Whiterun instead. They were like "are you sure this is the right way?" but otherwise followed me to every house, shop, and building I visited.

So if I decide to ignore the questline for now, will these two NPCs accompany me for as long as I want them to?

Would be nice having 3 people follow me (2 quest NPCs plus 1 regular companion.)

p.s: You can tell them to wait just like any other companion

I spoke too soon about fixing my CTDs had a crash lastnight and one today within 10 mins of playing,funny thing is I can run Intel Burn Test and Furmark and its rock stable so I'm guessing its the game.

Right now I'm reading the crashing thread over at their forums here http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1270631-crashes-during-gameplay/ ,at least I'm not the only one getting CTDs.


I'm thinking about trying the latest Nvidia beta drivers but leaning towards the game being the issue rather then drivers,especially when their crashing thread is now up to 28 pages long.
