I just use my summon companion spell for fighting as mage ,never bothered with using NPC as backup.

Marcurio is pretty decent (destruction and conjuration). 500g in Riften and he's yours.

J'Zargo is the best mage I've found though (I'm partial to lightning), but he's a complete asshole

Ha! Saw my first decapitations today as Drusilla's dremora lord went to town on a bunch of bandit thugs. She's level 29. Her conjuration is now 92, destruction 53. Illusion is low at 24 but I'll find a way for her to soon raise it, maybe spend some money on the relevant trainer. Sneak is now above 70. Still wearing no armour. Damn the archmage robe is ugly. Promptly a mod to change it, please... Can't wait for conjuration to reach 100 and then she'll have two 150% dremora lords or strom atronachs as bodyguards. Bet they'll enjoy slaughtering mage groups.

Is wabbajack in the game like other daedric artifacts? Can I wabbajack Alduin into a bunny like what I did Mehrunes Dagon in Oblivion?

which almost seems broken since it raises your illusion insanely fast. In fact once I hit 70 illusion I stopped casting it since it leveled me up so fast and my destruction fell behind.

How did you get conjuration up to 92? I'm 29 now and mine is still 50ish It's so hard to raise the skill even when I'm constantly soul trapping and conjuring pets.

Drusilla's storm atronach just took a frost dragon down by itself while she watched, in the mage college courtyard. Lucky I guess this time. Usually she needs a couple of atronachs now to kill dragons matched to her level 30. Also summoning more than once per battle helps increase the skill faster but it was fun to just watch the battle unfold this time. Dremora lords are great once a dragon lands. A bit stupid and overly agressive but definitely fearless with a taste for blood. Of course, now that her atronachs are 50% more powerful, that really helps and soon she'll have two.

believe that is one of the easy to kill dragon's like the first one in white run. first time i went to the mage college it interrupted my tour and i put it down with 1 unrlenting fury shout and some dual flames (and i'm not even level 20 yet).

It also seems broken since I can still hear myself when it's cast...I hate that. Is it working at all? Maybe only on enemies?

I spoke too soon about fixing my CTDs had a crash lastnight and one today within 10 mins of playing,funny thing is I can run Intel Burn Test and Furmark and its rock stable so I'm guessing its the game.

Right now I'm reading the crashing thread over at their forums here http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1270631-crashes-during-gameplay/ ,at least I'm not the only one getting CTDs.


I'm thinking about trying the latest Nvidia beta drivers but leaning towards the game being the issue rather then drivers,especially when their crashing thread is now up to 28 pages long.

Hopefully they nail this down ...

I just wanted to test something in Whiterun, and I ended up fighting (for the heck of it) in The Bannered Mare. There's a guy there I never noticed before...

His name is Sam Guevenne, he wears a black mages robe, and under normal circumstances (when there's no fight going on, which I tested after I "discovered" him) he asks you to take part in a drinking contest against him. I haven't tried the drinking contest itself, I just wanted to see his dialog. Now the thing is I went back to the previous save when the fight inside the Bannered Mare was still going (me, Lydia and a Battle-Born guy fighting with me for some reasons). So that guy, Sam, he was just running around trying to simply avoid the actual fights. I was curious, so I attacked him (shouted at him, I used the first shout we get from that scripted dragon at the western Watchtower). Bad move...

I won't spoil too much even with the spoiler tag, but if you guys ever attack him, be prepared to die, unless you're level... like... 30+? I'd imagine, or at least around that. When I saw what the guy was and what he could do I had a good laugh, he's ridiculously powerful (well, both directly and indirectly, you'll see, if you try). Good thing that saved game is just there for some tests (just checking around if specific fights can force the game to CTD since I'm doing some stability tests).

Anyway, back to testing.

I highly suggest finding him again, have a chat, and then do what he asks. The little quest that follows is kind of amusing, but also beneficial in the end. Aka - you get something cool. :sneaky:

Apparently he travels though, I found him in Solitude.

i'm not even sure what this has to do with pc vs. console and/or being retarded?

I may be in the minority but I think the randomized 'tasks' to be really annoying. I'm one of those OCD folks that like to complete everything in a game, so all these randomized tasks are just annoying when they are so generic and in my opinion kind of distracting. I suppose one could just ignore those randomized quests, which I've started doing, but it just cuts into the part of me that want to clear everything

I was glad Fallout 3 and New Vegas mostly avoided that. Tracking down eggs for The Thorn was pretty easy, cuz it told you where to find a clutch and popped up on your map. No running around fighting random monsters for a chance of getting eggs and slowly stockpiling them.
Also the reward was nice, more beasties to fight in a pit!

I was just reading on nexus forums that follower abilities do not level properly. Apparently their abilities stay at the same level the player was when the follower was first loaded into the game.

iCal90 figured out that disabling them, then enabling them in the console will force the game to calculate their abilities acording to your current level.

I am using Aranea Ienith. She's a pretty powerful Dunmer mage. You can get her by completing the Azura's Star quest series.

Actually I found the trick to updating Lydia, so I think I'll keep her. :wub:

You can't just disable and enable her like some people have said. You have to tell her to leave your service, then disable and re-enable her. She should be wearing her stock gear, but she'll still have everything you gave. Ask her to follow you again, then go to her inventory, take one piece of armor and give it back. She'll update to wearing everything correctly.
