I've had the same problem, Pontifex.

I have been dual casting destruction spells forever and I use max level spells and I use the mage birthstone and my destruction is still only 68 at level 34.

So easy to raise illusion but destruction grr..

i know, really making me mad

I tried conjuring a fire atronarch and killing it with ice spells and i did level up 3 times doing that but it took awhile. However my conjuration went up like twice as many times.

I'm dual casting fireball, which is awesome as hell and I can clear a huge keep or dungeon blasting everything in sight and not even gain a level. What sucks is I can only get like 3 dual casts off and then a single cast, but what helps is that it has AOE and DoT affects as well, plus it's pretty damn strong.

Finally met Krosis.

After reading so much about how fearsome he was, i was worried but my two potent dremora lords just ignored his frost atronach and went straight to him while I hid behind rocks and watched. He was shishkebabed in less than a minute. Helps that I had spotted the dragon resting above the wall from quite far away (would have noticed it earlier without the darn snow) and fireball-lured it away to slay first, not knowing that this was the infamous duo. The mask is not very useful for my character.

That addon is amazing for planning purposes alone, and once you hit the higher levels, respeccing can revive your experience and really open up new areas of gameplay. It's kind of a cheat, but to be honest, after investing so many hours, I don't feel like being punished for making poor/uninformed decisions early on. I'd start a new game, but when I do that, I want to go with a totally different approach, not a better/tweaked version of what I'm doing now. Anyway, it's highly recommended, and easy to use.

Ah nice! Thanks for the info, Cyto! Yea I don't consider respec a cheat. You get to respec in MMOs (and god knows how many times I've done it in RIFT) so I'm ok with this since Illusion was a big waste of points.

Ack! Drusilla got killed (one-pawed) twice within minutes by snow bears that crept on her unnoticed. Not wearing any armour, she should have her storm atronachs on at all times when roaming the countryside.

She must have fireballed a kidnapped prisoner and not just bandits because right now when she returned to town, the guards wanted a 1040 gold bounty. She paid of course and then a bounty hunter shows up and says he can clear her name for zero gold. She agreed.

Yeah I ended up dropping destruction as a sidearm to my archery/sneak build (it just wasn't necessary at higher levels, and it fell way behind), and investing more deeply in restoration (works amazingly well with my build, especially being able to heal my stamina and use the "avoid death" perk).

Thanks. I'll remember that. However she's a cloth-only mage (let's say it's a religious decision) so no armour. I like to put in a small restriction like this on my characters. After all, what's life without whimsy?

PSA: There is a GREEN FLICKERING ISSUE KNOWN and it is being worked on. However, using third party textures seems to be solving the issue. It mostly occur with the water and the sky.

WooT! At least they are working on them! With all the problems I see in that thread though I'm holding off for now.
