Not really. I'd say right now that's a very good all round card if you want to be able to play any game out now on high, but not ultra, settings (at 1080) without worrying about anything. And it'll handle any game coming out for a while too. It's only overkill if you have difficulty affording it. Cause you CAN get by with a lot less, but I personally wouldn't want to.

I don't think it would look better at all. But I could be wrong. Are the textures on the PC version higher res than those on the console versions? If not then no it will look about the same. The advantage of running it on the PC are higher resolutions and mods. But outputting it to your TV means 1080 no higher

Depends on the distance you sit from your TV.

Anything upwards of an HD 6870/GTX560 will set you up well for high settings with some nice AA.

Yes, as long as you have a good CPU. 6950 2GB paired with an i5 would play Ultra smoothly.

Really? They both the PC and PS3 will render the game at, at best, 1920x1080, on a TV. TVs can't display higher resolutions. The only thing that would be different is if the PC version of the game has better bundles textures which I'm not sure about.

Console versions are nowhere near native 1080p, most of the time they are 720p upscaled.

That is very true. But I know some render at 1080i, which would be hard to distinguish.

Yep, (native) 1080p will look a LOT sharper than 720p at the same distance. Add in all the texture mods and you got yourself a pretty damn awesome game!

However, I do find monitors more immersing because I got my face technically glued to it.

I noticed a funny trend in quests so far. There are many quests where NPCs ask you to meet them inside a certain cave/dungeon/temple etc. So you travel there, and you're greeted with an army of guards, robots, skeletons and what have you, and you have to avoid a ton of traps and unlock several gates just to get to the entrance, and then once you're finally inside, you find said NPC coolly waiting for you, completely oblivious to all the dangers outside.

At this point I'm always like "HOW THE FUCK DID YOU GET HERE?"

Why don't they just have them accompany you from the beginning? lol

The PC version has much better assets than the console versions (the game is 2GB larger.) And the PS3 version received the least amount of attention from Bethesda, and consequently looks much worse than the Xbox360 and PC versions. Eurogamer did a thorough analysis on the IQ difference between all the different platforms.

But of course, if you sit far away from your TV, I don't think any of this will matter Just keep in mind that the PS3 has a bug where the game would stutter and slowdown once the savefile reaches 5mbs.

After reading RavenSeal's comment on the main-quest, I'm thinking of going back to it. I finished the Thieves' Guild quest and did a bunch of sidequests (level 34 atm), but I might go back and finish the main-quest before moving on to other guilds/factions.

Are there any techniques (maybe a spell or something?) to detecting or finding ore deposits other than accidently stumbling upon them? I'm finding ore deposits look very similar to the surrounding rock unless your virtually on top of them and mines only replenish after 7 game days. Not interested in mods/console at this point.

Before or after you cured Kodlak? If you've already cured Kodlak, but you can't get the fire to activate for yourself (even though you have another witch head), try dropping the head on the ground next to the fire, then sleeping 24 hours, picking the head up again, and then activating the fire. Supposedly works according to comments elsewhere. I couldn't activate the fire again after curing Kodlak, but I haven't tried this supposed "fix" yet because I wanted to get the Purity quests from Farkas and Vilkas before I cure myself. Let us know if it works?

There's a fantasic mod for this (566 endorsements!!), but I'm not aware of any default settings/abilities that will do what you're looking for.
