I've been reading alot of new threads regarding the AMD pedigree and have decided to start a new one. All questions and all overclocking success should be post in here. . This is to consolidate space in the server.

Here goes, I've locked my cpu at 12.5 multiplier and did it via pencil trick. More can be explained in this thread. . Thanks to Confused, I'm at 1.81Ghz now. Here are my pc stats and hope that you guys will do the same.

CPU : AROIA 'Y' XP1600
Week : 13th 2002
Speed : 12.5x145Mhz = 1.81Ghz
Temperature : 53idle and 58load (celcius)
Mobo : Asus A7V266 E
Voltage : 1.75v

There you go. Those are my stats. For all you guys that have diff experience. Please post them in here.

i have the same chip, aroia y. but i'm tired of messing with trying to unlock cpus like i did before...not enough patience

speed: 10.5x171 = 1.80 ghz
temps: 49 idle, 56 load
mobo: msi kt3 ultra aru
volts: 1.85v (so i can run prime all night)

Does anyone know if this is a good chip? I'm building a system for a friend and was thinking about swapping the CPU's over. I have a 1600 that does 150 FSB, something like 1.56GHz, do you think it's worth the swap?

Both systems have no case fans other than the HSF and the PSU. Also, both my Radeon 7500 and 8500 have had their HSF unit replaced with Alpha 45mm heatsinks and are running on passive cooling...

Oh, BTW, I can't say enough about these Epox 8K5A series KT333 boards...faster than the other KT333 boards, and faster even than the newer KT400. These boards are simply an o/c'ers dream...

Unfortunately, I ordered from newegg and received the AROGA stepping. Anyone have any experience with tryin to overclock this thing? Any input would be appreciated since I can't seem to find much info on this stepping.

You wanna try o/cing that thing and let us know how it goes?? It doesn ot hurt to try. never heard of that stepping though.

Lots of cooling fans, and good airflow throughout the case. House temp is a bit high though (76-78F). Stable through 6 hours of Prime95, then went on to run SETI.

almost identical to you pillage Still stress testing and tweaking. I think I may be able to get another 50 MHz or so out of this chip

Have a possible AGOIA dud here. It's an 1800+ marked with the third line first letter "9." It just does not like anything over 1600MHz being run through it. Voltages all the way up to 1.9 do nothing. At least I was able to unlock it and am running at 9.5x168 (1596) though. Temps are low 40s idling and 55-57 after 1/2 hour of Prime95 with an AX-7 (lapped) and Mechatronics 53CFM strapped to it & AS3.

Havent tried overclocing the thing yet. I dont think my mobo supports T-Breds. I will post pics as soon as I get a chance. The thing runs at 1.5V. Can't wait to get this thing running. I also bought a Alpha PAL8045 for ir with a Delta 68CFM fan. Expect some big results. Oh yeah I almost forgot that it is factory unlocked also.

Wow, I didn't even know the Thoroughbreds were for sale yet!! :Q Cool stuff. BTW, the Epox 8K5A2+ supports the TBreds and has the Highpoint 372 Raid controller. I know how you feel about that; I can't live w/o my RAID 0 stripe either!!! It's like driving a Porsche for a week and then going back to you Hyundai Accent...once you've had the fast stuff, a single drive is SO slow.
