Well, since you mentioned Jim Philips, maybe the CPU is 'spinning out of control, and pulling out it's hair !

Give me some time to think this one through, I may just have to have Spok do a mind meld with the Ouija board.
I'll off-line you confirm or deny wheather or not your CPU has been taken over by the Evil Empire.

A carefull study of the submitted criteria, and a review if the evidence, we find these truths to be self evident:

Agoia 178x10.5=1.869
Arioia 166x10.5=1.743 Delta= 0.126, or the Aroia is running 6.5% lower speed, but outperforming the faster CPU.

Agoia Qty (1) stick Crucial PC2700, 256MB O'ck to 356DDR from 333 (boost of 23)(11.5 Cycle X 2)
Agoia Qty (1) stick Crucial PC2100, 256MB + Qty (1) stick Crucial PC2100, 128MB=VOLUME 384MB,O'ck to 333 (boost of 77)(38.5 Cycle x 2)

The PC2100 RAM is performing at a better rate than the 'Faster' PC2700 RAM, as it doesn't have the headroom of efficency the PC2100 has.
The Qty (2) sticks are able to tranfer and process faster, and the volume gives a bigger capacity, and you realize a better data throughput.

If you want to improve the output of the AGOIA system, Dapunisher will have to use a bigger whip.
(Or add another stick of memory)

I actualy saw my system performance DECREASE when I changed from Crucial PC2100 to Samsung PC2700. Don't believe all the Hype you read !

EDIT: I was just curious if someone could provide a reasonable explaination for the disparity in performance, since none has been forthcoming I'll stick with the sweeter WU's theory.

That sounds like a plan Kirk, I'll let you know if it makes a difference in a few days.

Hi people, I have my Agoin Xp1600+ with Epox 8k5a2+ going rock stable on 164fsb only, I wasn`t lucky?? or many are worst from mine, I heard also that are. But on 164-5 fsb my mobo is giving on 133mhz memory setting and turbo 5% better performance for me than 166fsb setting, so I am happy 1,73Ghz isn`t bad, I have 60fps in Ut2003 benchmark botmach, which is quite impressive for overclocked ti4200 128mb to 310\580 ;-),, I don`t know why this strange performance with 164fsb against 166, big question ;-)

My XP1600 AROGA, yes, AROGA better OC ok. I haven't heard much about the AROGA cores but hopefully they are just as OC friendly as the AGOIA cores.

How do I find out? I assume I look at the core, but what numbers do I look at?

And pillage2001, I dont have results yet b/c I haven't built this new comp yet. Haven't got all the parts yet, I'll let you know how it goes though.

Back to the top - where it belongs.

Aroia-Y, XP1600+ in Abit KX7-333, first turned on @ 133 X 13.5 = 1795.5, recogonized and permitted in BIOS.
No tampering with bridges - locked. Should I unlock & play with the FSB ?

Ok, its AROGA 0212. So its week 12. Does the week matter? Is week 12 a good OCer?

Also, I noticed these athlons dont have the cut corner like the T-birds did. But I did notice it had a golden triangle in one of the corners, is that what it represents? There is also a white sticker on my cpu with a barcode on it. Should I remove this before using the processor?

1600+ AGOIA week 13 letter Y has been overclocked since day one at 1840 mhz . I have had it as high as 1901mhz but didnt test it enough to consider it stable there.

NO!!! Do not remove the sticker for whatever reasons. It might not be important but just leave it there. It does not harm anything. It might be for warranty purposes.

Okay the semi final results on my TBred 1700+ are as so.....
I am somewhat limited on my FSB cause of my crucial RAM. FSB can only do 140Mhz at normal timings on a 8k5a2+, so I stuck with just my multiplier. You can read about my multiplier probs in the motherboard forums. Right now I am stuck cause of my RAM at 1.76Ghz (12.5x140) @ 1.65V. Once I get some better ram or resolve the multiplier issue I will update my results.

You sure? I mean, its a paper sticker, and the processor with get really hot, will the paper be able to withstand the heat?

Take off the sticker, it's a barcode label for the resale inventory. You bought the part, it's not needed anymore - peel & clean off.
Golden Triangle in corner identifies the position of Pin 1 on the processor.

Just start a thread listing all of your computer's hardware, everything! heatsink and fan you use, motherboard, power supply, ram, case fans, hard drive, video card, nic card, modem, it can all be useful at times to help others advize you and ask for overclocking advice. It'll all depend on your hardware specs as to what you can accomplish without further investments, and which investments will give you the best results for the $$$
