I had the buffalo sandwich from Arby's a few weeks ago in the airport and holy hell that thing was really good. It had the perfect spice to it and was damn good. I definitely want to eat it again. I didn't get it with blue cheese or ranch or whatever comes on it. I just had the patty and maybe lettuce/tomato on it. I was just a fan of the buffalo sauce they use and it had a nice crisp to it and was thick.

Burger King has just kept on going down hill in the last 10 years or so. I don't eat a lot of fast food, especially burgers (I live across from a brew pub), but I'd rather eat at almost any other fast food restaurant.

so I ended up at RAISING CANES because the line was only 10 cars deep instead of 30. They are slowly rolling our their expansion across SoCal...

Verdict: Better than Chick Fil A, but not the second coming of christ (unlike the Chick'n Shack)

Got the Caniac combo which was 6 fingers + fries + texas toast + slaw. Slaw was super basic, texas toast was a carbload + butter, fries well done were surprisingly good. The chicken itself was decent, "some" crisp, tender, and mostly fat fingers. Overall I can see the allure if I wanted chicken tenders, but I wouldn't wait > 10 minutes for it.

damn, now I want one. Nothing makes me weak in the knees like a fried chicken patty + buffalo sauce sandwich.

I can't imagine going out of my way, much less waiting in any line, for chicken tenders. That just doesn't make sense to me.

To update an earlier topic in this thread: There is new-build but mostly empty shopping center a few blocks from me that finally found some funding and they are now leasing and building again. A Safeway just opened and, in the currently empty storefront next to that...a Pollo Campero! woot!

so stoked. But I'd be surprised if I like it more than Sardis (small local chain for coal fire Peruvian/CA chicken) or one of the many individual brassaries or whatever they call them.

Why you would be eating anything other than Mexican food in SoCal baffles my mind!

Sometimes even the good stuff just gets old. I was living in Italy and eating amazing food but after about 3 months, I became very desperate for a fricking American Hamburger. It's great to have options.

^^

I live in SoCal because mexican is one of many, many cuisines that SoCal does well. To only eat mexican is to deprive oneself of the best asian food in the country, for instance. Strong middle eastern roots here as well, and italian is way, way more respectable now than 10 years ago (but not that NY red sauce style).

The only thing we really lack are some eastern european cuisines, and top tier american style bbq.

So much good middle eastern food in the LA area. I definitely miss it already now that I moved to the Bay Area. SF Bay Area has crappy food if you don't actually live in San Francisco.

No you guys lack Peruvian Chicken big time. My friends who flew back to San Diego from VA flew back with Peruvian Chicken stowed away in their checked in luggage. That shit is serious business.

Oakland Berkeley El Cerrito has tons of amazing food--particularly Oakland. South Bay is pretty awesome, too, but it's more suburby and you have to prowl strip malls. The only problem I have had with any Bay Area food is Mexican. The selection of Mexican food is alarmingly weak. (granted, SF and Oakland have some winners, but overall it's the weakest cuisine in that area. Oh Italian--no fricking Italian)

It comes with their parmesan peppercorn ranch, which is okay overall, but I always skip it if it's on what I'm ordering there (I think it comes on one of their angus sandwiches too).

Now, I've only had Raising Cane's once, but I'm pretty sure you're wrong. I can't even be bothered to drive all the way back out there to see if it's "as good" as CFA.

I've been to CFA 3 times now and I vastly prefer a McChicken over any of CFA's offerings, including their chicken biscuit sandwich.

seriously....wtf happened to you?

You probably prefer McDonald's breakfast to Hardee's obviously superior breakfast too, don't you?

Nothing happened to me. CFA sucks. I mean the McChicken sucks too, but at least it's 1/3rd of the price.

Sir, you disgust me.

(Don't care for the chicken biscuit sandwich myself either)

definitely not as pervasive as taco shops! lol

There's probably a handful of true pollo a la brasa joints, and then there are many peruvian joints that also serve chicken which may or may not be wood fired on a rotisserie.

Here's the place to send to your friend: https://www.yelp.com/biz/pollo-a-la-brasa-western-los-angeles
They are in SD so I doubt they will drive up there for that, but maybe they would lol. They flew 2500 miles with it in their luggage so who knows.

That looks pretty good for rotisserie chicken but it's still only rotisserie chicken. Which means it's still inferior to fried chicken and smoked chicken. Fried chicken > smoked chicken > rotisserie chicken.

it's not rotisserie chicken, it's wood fired peruvian rotisserie chicken; > american style rotisserie chicken for several reasons:

1) wood fired
2) peruvian dry rub on chicken
3) aji sauce, which is far superior to any american style hot sauce

it's wood fire roasted, though. I love smoked chicken, but this peruvian stuff is waaaaay better.

LOL @ comparing Peruvian style chick to American style rotisserie chicken. You simpletons don't know what you're missing.

All good BBQ places use wood for fire. I've eaten enough wood fire roasted chicken to know it's still just rotisserie chicken.
