beech beer
Was this a typo? Could you have meant birch beer? Nothing jumped out when I did a search, but wikipedia had this interesting bit about beech...

Fresh from the tree, beech leaves in spring are a fine salad vegetable, as sweet as a mild cabbage though much softer in texture.[26] The young leaves can be steeped in gin for several weeks, the liquor strained off and sweetened to give a light green/yellow liqueur called beech leaf noyau.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beech

I'll have to try some beech greens next spring. I love found food. Found food is the best food.

Hershey's chocolate bars are awful; they taste like wax these days. US chocolate has really gone downhill with all of the cheap, cost-cutting ingredients they put in them. Just look at Snickers...the 80's version had actually butter in it! Whereas the 1981 version below used milk as an ingredient, the 2017 version has skim milk, milkfat, and lactose, plus palm oil, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, etc.

Thanks for confirming what I suspected.

Well yea, no one wants to pay $5 for one snickers. Cost cutting. Why do you think you can't get a double cheeseburger for 99¢ at McDonald's?
Considering I'm not paying anything close to $5 for superior imported European chocolates, it's just stupid greed on the part of the USA companies. The cheaper ingredients and cost cutting probably saves them pennies on the dollar. But over million/billion chocolate bars, it's big money they're pocketing at the expense of quality. Most Americans don't know better or don't care so companies are able to get away with it.

I got a 2-pack of Mrs. Freshley's knockoff Hostess cupcakes from a vending machine today, peanut-butter flavored. I'm only posting about it because the ingredients list is longer than my senior thesis. I started typing it up, but a picture does it better justice. It's literally a paragraph of ingredients:

I tried the McDonald's Chicken Tenders and man they sucked, stringy chicken, tasteless just made me throw them away after a couple of bites. Even my cat didn't want the chicken part.

Man, cinnamon is so far down that list it makes you wonder why it's even in there.

In this case, a little cinnamon goes a long way. Generally it's done to scam the consumer. "olive oil" and "honey" are the big ones. Adding a couple µg to the product allows them to state it in big print on the label, even though there isn't enough to taste in the product. People think they're getting olive oil when they're really getting whatever was cheapest that week on the commodity market, and there's usually five other kinds of sugar that are really adding sweetness to the product. Sunflower oil and HFCS don't sound as sexy as olive oil and honey.

But these are peanut butter flavored cupcakes, they don't seem to mention cinnamon in the packaging.

For snacks, TastyKake is where it's at. Best donuts. Best fruit pies. Sorry Little Debbie, Hostess, etc.

^^ Taco Bell will fail just like it did before. Who's going to keep paying $13 for taco combo meal after the novelty wears off? Not even Australians are that dumb.

I get three or four plain crunchy tacos, and maybe a bean burrito if I'm starving. Haven't been in awhile, but I'm pretty sure it's <$7. TacoBell is delicious every so often. I go once or twice, and I'm good for a few months.

I meant Australian dollar and not USD. $13 AUD is about $10 USD. Everything in Australia is very expensive including fast food. Minimum wage in Australia is $17.70 AUD which is about $13.50 USD, almost double the USA minimum wage.

I don't care for their sandwiches but their Lemon Drop cookies are amazing, and worth every overpriced penny.

Thanks! I'll be sure to buy one next time (might be a few months from now since I'm not exactly a regular there).

Panera has added "Rapid Pickup" to my local restaurants:

1. Order online
2. They put it on a shelf
3. You walk in, pick it up, and leave

Amazing take-out option when you're feeling antisocial

I finally tried BurgerFi. I had the BurgerFi cheeseburger and the family sized fries. It was good but like all the higher priced burger places like Five Guys and Shake Shack, it wasn't worth the extra money. I can make just as good or better burgers at home on my grill or griddle without much effort and with my eyes closed. If I'm away from home and looking for a quick burger, I still prefer McDonald's or Wendy's for value/taste on the East Coast. If I was out in West Coast, In-N-Out burger would be tops no question.
