I found this stuff at my local Indian food store. Kind of looked like a Chia drink (gummy seeds). I don't really like Chia drinks all that much all that much, but I'd never tried a drink with basil (seeds) in it, so I decided to give it a shot. WOW is it good! Sugary, but not overly-sugary like a soda, and rather than being a drink full of chia mush, each basil seed was individually wrapped in a clear jelly ball. It was kind of like drinking tapioca pudding, except smaller gel bits & they stayed in suspension in each swallow (instead of all sinking to the bottom or floating to the top). It was oddly really refreshing to drink. I'm gonna go back tomorrow & get more flavors! If you like boba drinks, you'd probably like this too.
Ingredients: Water, basil seed, sugar, citric acid (E330), gelling agent (E418), FD&C Red No. 40, Added Flavoring Agent. E418 is used as vegan gelatin, pretty interesting stuff. Quantity & macro specs: 290ml, 140 calories, 0g protein, 36g carbs, 0g fat. So at ~9.8 ounces, it's pretty close to a 12-ounce Sprite.

the only bad thing about Popeye's is their absolutely terrible biscuit. if only Church's would open up next to Popeye's, I can go to Popeye's for their chicken but get my biscuits from Church's.
Haha. With boba, you do chew the tapioca spheres, which is half the fun. With this drink, it's more of a mouthfeel & a swish thing. Hard to explain; "weird, but good" pretty much covers it
I tried my first boba drink a few years ago and have been hooked ever since. My go to is green tea and orange juice with boba balls of course.
Two pickles is standard, it's enough for me so I've never asked for more, but I'd guess they'll put more on for you.Revisited CfA again, for the 5th time, and finally had a good meal! The secret this time was actually dining in and better use of the free sauces. While my sandwich had a paltry 2 pickles on it, I was able to spread some garlic ranch and CfA sauce on the sandwich (instead of dipping the sandwich into CfA sauce like I had been doing previously) which improved the final product dramatically. Then I used some of that hot sauce to add some dimension to the sandwich, and also got the waffle fries well done.
The final product was something I'd happily eat again.
Now, I love pizza, and I love cheese, but this is just wrong.
Back in the 90s when KFC was still awesome I would sometimes go a couple miles down the road to Popeyes for the red beans and rice, then backtrack down the street to KFC for the original recipe and finally a couple of blocks to Church's for the honey butter biscuits. It was too convenient having all three on the same street within a couple of miles. Too bad only Popeyes is still good. Nowadays I get my fried chicken either from Popeyes (great seasoning in the spicy), Bill Millers (great size pieces), or Bush's (both).
Does anyone here eat at Dickeys BBQ pit? If so, can you tell me why you hate yourself so much?
I've eaten there twice, I think (first out of curiosity, the second out of convenience). Thought it was alright for chain BBQ, I'd eat there over Famous Dave's if those were the options.Does anyone here eat at Dickeys BBQ pit? If so, can you tell me why you hate yourself so much?
CFA financially backed the Family Research Council which backed Uganda's kill-the-gays bill. Uganda backed down and decided to only imprison gays for life. It isn't about Christianity, it's about supporting psychopathic policies. One can choose to enjoy a chicken sandwich from some other chicken joint and the profits won't go to people who supported such policies. On a tangent (goal is to not turn this into a P&N thread), what's with the hate for Chick-fil-a? This New Yorker article reads like an article out of a high school newspaper:
https://www.newyorker.com/culture/a...k-fil-as-creepy-infiltration-of-new-york-city
So many points to discuss, but just to select a few:
1. The title - "Chick-fil-A’s Creepy Infiltration of New York City". Regarding "deadening uniformity" and "homogeneous food", did no one mention that there are over 250 McDonalds in NYC? And over 80 Burger Kings? There are only 12 Chick-fil restaurants there currently. Clickbait at its finest!
2. What's with the hate on Christian groups? Has the writer ever even been to other restaurants in NYC? Go into a Jewish restaurant & tell me how you feel. And don't even pretend like you've never eaten a hot dog from the Halal Guys, lol. Judiasm, Rastafarianism, Hinduism, etc. all all represented by various restaurants within walking distance of each other.
3. I've read that people boycott Chick-fil-a over their politics, especially that of their leader. Since when does that have ANY effect on the end product & on the workers themselves? Better not buy gas because the Enron CEO was crooked. Better not buy HP computers because the HP CEO cheated on his wife. Better leave the US because the President is controversial. In & Out literally prints Bible verses on their packaging, as does Forever 21. I thought the Chick-fil-a controversy blew over back in like 2012.
Of note, this was an interesting entry on Wikipedia: "In August 2012, petitions with over 80,000 signatures were delivered to publisher HarperCollins demanding the publisher cut plans to include Berenstain Bears titles as part of a kids' meal promotion. Upon being presented with petitions demanding that Berenstain Bears be pulled from a Chick-fil-A promotion, HarperCollins issued a statement saying 'We have a long history of diversity and inclusiveness and work tirelessly to protect the freedom of expression. It is not our practice to cancel a contract with an author, or any other party, for exercising their first amendment rights.'" It's a chicken sandwich, people.
4. Shack Shack's chicken sandwich kills Chick-fil-a's anyway. It's magnificent.

Well that's insane.
Edit: Were they aware that they were funding an outfit that did that? Because that does make quite a difference...1st-amendment rights vs. basically funding terrorism.
Not it doesn't. It's basically the exact same filet and prep (pickle brine), same size, manages to be blander than a regular CFA spicy chicken sandwich, and is twice the cost of a deluxe spicy CFA sandwich. It's a ridiculous sandwich. I've had to try the Chicken Shack a second time to confirm this for myself, at a different restaurant, because I didn't believe that it could possibly be as mediocre as it was the first time I tried it, but it is. ...not to say it is bad on its own, but I could have two superior CFA deluxe spicies for the cost of one plain Chicken Shack.
Zey opened one locally, but people found it pricey and only showed up for the advertised $2 pulled pork sandwiches. Sold a ton, but didn't drum up enough repeat business. They closed after a year or two.Does anyone here eat at Dickeys BBQ pit? If so, can you tell me why you hate yourself so much?
there is so much wrong with this statement.
1) the CFA patty is a limp dick compared to the crunch of the Chick'n Shack
2) The herbed mayo that they use is far superior to any CfA sauce, which you have to add yourself
3) The CFA sandwich comes with 2 limp dick pickles that probably come from Smart and Final; the Chick n Shack has ~4 thick cut pickles that are delicious
4) I would rather pay twice as much for a Chick'n Shack.
