Not it doesn't. It's basically the exact same filet and prep (pickle brine), same size, manages to be blander than a regular CFA spicy chicken sandwich, and is twice the cost of a deluxe spicy CFA sandwich. It's a ridiculous sandwich. I've had to try the Chicken Shack a second time to confirm this for myself, at a different restaurant, because I didn't believe that it could possibly be as mediocre as it was the first time I tried it, but it is. ...not to say it is bad on its own, but I could have two superior CFA deluxe spicies for the cost of one plain Chicken Shack.

As for the boycotts, it isn't about them being Christian, it's about the longstanding homophobic policies of the Caffey family. They have a secondary charity foundation that has long donated a lot of money to anti-LGBT groups like Focus on the Family and, I think, for a time were sponsoring some of those radical missions in Uganda (the same groups that were actually helping Ugandan nutsos to execute gay Ugandans, but largely supported the Ugandan federal banning of homosexuality). There were two such boycotts that I recall, and in both the Caffey's promised to de-fund/separate from these controversial groups. Obviously that didn't happen the first time; not sure about the 2nd (the one that prompted "Freedom Chicken!" and sociopaths like spidey posting their "daily loadout" pics all over the internet of pistols, knives, and chick fil-a sandwiches, lol.)

Boycotts absolutely do work, but few such successful boycotts have ever had to contend with the deliciousness of CFA sandwiches.
A CFA just opened across from work.... and I’m a weak man

...compared to the crunch of the Chick'n Shack
2) The herbed mayo that they use is far superior to any CfA sauce, which you have to add yourself

I agree. I like Chick-fil-a, but the Chick'n Shack was easily twice as good. It was crunchy & the sauce was amazing. So good that I purchased their recipe book specifically for that recipe. Turns out that they sous-vide their chicken, so I think the flash-fry method is why it's so crispy, plus their sauce is just great.

Side note, they don't give you the exact burger recipe in the book, to protect their specific blend, which is kind of silly as it is their cookbook. While I love burgers, I'm not really a burger snob & didn't care for the Shack Shake burger all that much...my store-ground 80/20 smash burger beats it, imo, and that's not even a blend of anything, I think it's just beef chuck haha.

aye

I'm also totally now on board the Stouffer's frozen lasagna bandwagon. Is it the best lasagna I've ever had? Dear god no. But I've paid more for less, so these are now stocked in my freezer at all times.
Good call. I usually have one in the freezer for those nights when I don't feel like putting any effort into dinner.

For frozen, Stouffer's does a surprisingly good job. It's great emergency food for sure!

there is so much wrong with this statement.

1) the CFA patty is a limp dick compared to the crunch of the Chick'n Shack
2) The herbed mayo that they use is far superior to any CfA sauce, which you have to add yourself
3) The CFA sandwich comes with 2 limp dick pickles that probably come from Smart and Final; the Chick n Shack has ~4 thick cut pickles that are delicious
4) I would rather pay twice as much for a Chick'n Shack.

I definitely agree about the pickles, but I didn't buy it for pickles.

I've never had a CFA spicy that wasn't crunchy. I'm not sure what happened to yours, but it isn't the same as the standard CFA sandwich, anyway. Which, in itself...still tastes better than Shake Shake's. I found that the herb mayo (never mind that mayo anything on a chicken sandwich is disgusting and unnecessary) wasn't all that impressive. You don't need to add anything to the CFA spicy sandwich. It's perfectly fine on its own.

Then, I don't think of sandwiches as delivery systems for shitty condiments, that in the FF world, usually serve to destroy whatever the sandwich is supposed to taste like...but I'm not really defending CFA sauces here; I could take them or leave them.

So, in the end, I paid nearly 8 dollars for some very nice pickles? blech.

I need to try a burger from shake shack at some point though, because so far I just find them to be overhyped hipster crap.

I'm not sure I've ever had a CFA sandwich that was crunchy, and I've eaten them from locations in different states.

I'm up to 7 visits to CfA now, and it has NEVER been crunchy. It almost feels baked. Maybe it's because they're paired with uber flaccid waffle fries you somehow believe it's crunchy?

a regular shack burger is just meh to me, but the smoke stack is fucking awesome due to the pickled sport peppers.

You actually pay $8 for a big ol chicken breast that's juicy and crispy, great pickles, great mayo spread, and (this one doesn't apply to you) a potato bun that can't be found on the west coast.

I'm not trying to be contrarian here, but I don't know that I've ever had CFA patties or nuggets that weren't soggy. It's literally what I think of when I think of CFA.

You know, when I first tried CFA many years ago, the chicken was crispy & the waffle fries were also crispy. I've had them in two separate states since then and you're right, they are more soft now. Did something in their process change over time?

I lol'd at Eater's description of the chicken sandwich:

Chicken sandwich: Nothing fancy here, just a plain pressure-fried chicken sandwich. Sometimes, on a good day, it smells like chicken. The flimsy white bun, tenderized meat, soft crust (with a few gently crispy edges), and floppy cukes combine forces to create about as much textural contrast as a peanut-butter sandwich. An Atlanta friend tells me the fried chicken isn’t really supposed to be crunchy, which might be true, but that makes as much sense as saying a cup of Jell-O shouldn’t jiggle. Rating: 6/10. Calories: 440. Fat: 19g. Sodium: 1350mg.

evidently you can get the CfA chicken sandwich "well done" which adds another 45s to the cook time.

Are you guys talking about the CFA spicy sandwich or the classic regular CFA sandwich? The regular is definitely soft, basically a large version of their nuggets. The spicy is crispier with tender, juicy meat.

I guess crunchy is the wrong word, tbh--it makes me think of that rock-hard fried chicken that is preferred in Korea.

Hm, I'll have to give that a go next time.

I'm talking about both. I mostly order the spicy, but sometimes I don't (and up until recently, the free chicken sandwich you get for filling out the survey was only good for the original).

Zin, let's put it this way. When you eat Gus fried chicken, is that shit crunchy to you? Cuz for me the Chick'n Shack is consistently at that level of crunch, whereas CfA is consistently several levels below that.

Ghirardelli milk chocolate sea salt almonds:

Excellent, would buy again. Roasted almonds, just enough sea salt to taste it, coated in milk chocolate. Zero waxy taste, not "salty", and the almonds were soft & didn't try to break my teeth. Macros aren't bad (200 cal, 4g protein, 12g fat, 23g carb), except that I killed the whole pack because it was only about hand-sized (3.5 servings per bag = 700 calories, 14g protein, 42g fat, ~81g carbs). 10/10 would eat the whole bag again
