I don't know. I've been too scared to try it.

On another sad note, it appears that McDonald's got rid of their best item, the steak bagel. Madness.

Dang man. So is it something that got worse over time?

Yeah, that seems to be the case. I'm guessing it was one of the causes of my heart attack I had at 26. Since I stopped eating poultry, my sinuses are clear and I feel a lot better. I had assumed I was dying and wouldn't be around much longer. It was an interesting revelation.

Dang, that's young! I wonder if the chicken thing triggered it?

Mark your calendars! For one day only - October 21st - every Arby's location will be selling venison sandwiches:

https://www.thrillist.com/news/nation/arbys-venison-sandwich

The chain couldn't get enough deer from the US since it's not regularly consumed on such a large scale. It had to turn to a New Zealand source to provide enough grass-fed, free-range deer. Arby’s Chief Marketing Officer Jim Taylor told WHAS it took a full year to secure enough product for what he believes is the "biggest venison promotion in the world any restaurant" has ever put together.

hit up taco bell for the first time in over a decade last night. I don't think I'm going to do that again.

So a fast food chain that serves something passing as beef and something else that may or may not be chicken every day and still can't get them right is going to sell venison one day only? Yeah! That's got to be good.

And afterwards be sure to stop in McDonalds for the one time only filet-o-fugu sandwich.

This was exactly me ~3 months ago. seriously. wtf was I thinking, and why did I waste $5 on that? "Cheap" ain't worth it.

And I used to eat Taco Bell every other day. I don't know if they've just gotten shittier, or I've grown out of whatever it is they do.

Venison, possum, skunk, they all live in the forest, so they should all taste the same anyway.

just for you, I'll save some of my sandwich, extract the DNA, and put it on the sequencer. Then we'll know wtf is in that meat!

(actually, we don't do much sequencing, but I know where to send it...)

If you're not sure what the meat is before you eat it you're probably not going to be happy if you find out later.

Damn you people and your Shake Shack. The nearest one is in the Mall of America. Dunno if that's enough to get me in there next time I drive through the city.

I would actually be happy to make a new entry to the "Meats I have eaten" list, so you'd be surprised how one might be pleasantly surprised by a discovery like that.

Dear diary: Three Mile Island Sewer rat tastes just like geriatric wildebeest testicles. Who knew?

I am reasonably certain that I've eaten rat before.

We were in Dublin, the Old Town area, which is alarmingly expensive. The fricking BK was ~$15 for a value meal...a BK value meal. So using that as a guide we tried to find something cheaper. Big mistake. Found a filthy burger joint that was run by two Korean ladies. Pretty sure those burgers were rat or something similar. Definitely not beef. The fries were amazing however. My food budget in Dublin was mostly reserved for beer and whisky, anyway.

My only complaint with Panera Bread is the small portion sizes, which is why I'll only eat there 1-2x/year. I usually order the same thing, half of a Roasted Turkey & Avocado BLT and soup. I think it comes with chips. I'm not ever full after my meal (I'm a female, so I can't imagine a guy ordering the same thing and being happy, LOL).
I don't care for their sandwiches but their Lemon Drop cookies are amazing, and worth every overpriced penny.

I tried Taco Bell's Naked Egg Taco for breakfast today:

https://www.tacobell.com/food/breakfast/naked-egg-taco

Available with bacon or sausage. I got the bacon ($1.99 for 310 calories, 14g protein, 21g fat, 15g carbs). Pretty decent - not my favorite, but it was a nice little keto hit (if you don't mind the carb hit from the potatoes). I was curious about how they did the egg wrap, so I looked up their ingredients list:

Bacon: Bacon cured with water, salt, sugar, sodium phosphates, sodium erythorbate, flavor (including smoke flavor), sodum nitrite (P).,

Cheddar Cheese: Cheddar cheese (cultured pasteurized milk, salt, enzymes, annatto (VC)), anti-caking agent. Contains: Milk [certified vegetarian],

Fried Egg Taco Shell: Egg whites, egg yolks, soybean oil, water, food starch, salt, black pepper, natural butter flavor, xanthan gum, cellulose gum, citric acid, EDTA (PF). Prepared in canola oil. Contains: Eggs,

Nacho Cheese Sauce: Nonfat milk, cheese whey, water, vegetable oil (canola oil, soybean oil), modified food starch, maltodextrin, natural flavors, salt, dipotassium phosphate, jalapeno puree, vinegar, lactic acid, cellulose gum, potassium citrate, sodium stearoyl lactylate, citric acid, annatto and oleoresin paprika (VC). Contains: Milk [certified vegetarian]

Potato Bites: Potatoes, soybean oil, enriched wheat flour, tapioca starch, salt, rice flour, dextrin, spices, baking powder, onion powder, garlic powder, natural flavor, modified food starch, guar gum, paprika and turmeric (VC), dextrose. Prepared in canola oil. Contains: Wheat

Based on the ingredients, I believe they built a faux scrambled egg. It's like 95% similar to a fried egg (floppy), but holds together well enough not to fall apart when stuffed with ingredients as a taco. I'm not sure if they assemble them in-house or not; I've been to Taco Bell for breakfast several times since they've released the Naked Egg Taco & they never have any ready - this was the first time they had one; I ordered both the Naked Egg Taco & the one with the flatbread, but they said they only had one left, so I'd imagine there's some kind of assembly process, maybe a mold that they use to create the "shell". My guess is that they separate the egg whites & the yolks (since they are listed separately in the ingredients list), then mix them with thickeners (specifically food starch & xanthan gum), and then fry them up in canola oil (listed as the preparation oil). So it looks like a fried egg, but it's really a little Frankenstein creation designed to hold the taco filling inside without breaking apart. Very clever! I may have to experiment with cloning the idea at home at some point, although I've gotten pretty good at copycat Starbucks egg bites, which are even more convenient because they're just like little protein marshmallows that you can microwave for 30 seconds, pop in your mouth by hand, and be done with a nice quick breakfast.
