What is fast food for this thread? There are some insanely good foods that come out real fast that are not big chains, besides pizza and tacos. Does that count? Stuff that takes less than 5 minutes for you to have in your possession to eat? I had hot pot in Sunset Park, Brooklyn yesterday. Everything was out within 5 minutes and we were making food for ourselves in our choice of 3 broths.

This ramen I had also in Brooklyn near Park Slope the other week, it came out so fast it was faster than my last couple Shake Shack orders and was one of the best bowls I've had

and then had this bowl of Poke the other week as well, so many Poke spots around here, and it's ready faster than a lot of what we traditionally call fast food:

Ate a Garlic Bacon King tonight, I don't like BK, I haven't for ages. Even when it was better it still a place I went a lot. I do somewhat like the Bacon King, not super but it's bacony and big. Also costs around $8.50 out here for the double and $12 something for the combo, which is rediculious. Anywho

this is a Bacon King minus the ketchup and add fried garlic slices. Patties are the same as a Big King, Bacon's good but nothing special. The fried garlic is absolutely something I need to start making at home. Thinly sliced garlic fried to a total crunch. There were a good number of the burger, they were croooonchy as shit and had lots of flavor. And since this burger's Mayo less it didn't suffer from the half a jar of Mayo they always seem to slather on a burger at my BK. And from what I've read on the internet, this isn't all that uncommon.

I might eat it again, I will make the garlic at home and probably OD on it for sure tho.

God I live for ramen and poke. Unfortunately the poke on the east coast sucks. The two kinds I had in California was so fresh it blew my mind.

I don't know if I had bad pho or if pho is inherently bad? The broth is sweet and unexpected. Maybe I just didn't know how to eat it properly?

IDK, should I try pho again? I liked the brisket and other meats in it though.

I liked the gbk. I didn't love it though because the bk around here is so inconsistent it's crazy.

There is a little mayo on it though. Lol

There's a lot of crappy pho out there. You gotta find the good spots & stick with them!

I've had poke that's not so good and poke that's good. It's just like sushi places around here on the east coast. Some are better than others. We have a bunch near me in Northern NJ, but I have my one go to, where I always choose half spicy tuna and half spicy salmon. So fucking good, I inhale the largest portion they sell with extra portions of fish to boot.

I have yet to eat poke in NYC, but it's on my list.

Pho should not be sweet per se, it's not as savory rich as a tonkotsu ramen, but it's a savory soup. Personally I love it. The first time I had it I was not impressed, it was just ok, but I tried it somewhere else and it's such a good bowl of soup. Ramen is my favorite noodle soup, but pho is up in the top 5 now. Try more places. There is some star anise in there. It shouldn't be overwhelming, but if you hate star anise, that might be what's setting off your palate, perhaps the pho you had didn't balance it out right.

The broth is supposed to be a bit sweet. I don't know what you mean by not knowing how to eat it. It's a bowl of noodles, you put some bean sprouts, seafood sauce, pepper and lime juice in it. Maybe some hot sauce. You can also have a small dish for the seafood sauce to dip your meats in.

Yeah, I just found a place called Umi right here in Bayonne, NJ and man for like $11, you get to pick any 3 maki rolls. For the price of a fast food meal you can get a nice fresh flavorful sushi meal. God I might go pick up a platter tonight. Lol

Where is this poke spot located? For some reason I think we live pretty close to each other.

Ramen with the creamy egg is life. LMAO 😆

I think that's what I tasted was the star anise and the rock sugar they put in it. It was like more sweet then savory. I'm going to do some research and find a place closer to me and try it again. I didn't hate it but it's not something, at that time years ago, that I would go out of my way to try again.

But like I said earlier, when I get back from Puerto Rico with my daughter then I'm going to try again.

To be honest with you, I thought it would taste a lot like ramen so my brain wasn't prepared for the sweetness. This was takeout for me but the place that I stayed at was less than 5 minutes away.

They gave me a bag of the sprouts, which I hate, plus the Thai basil and some other things to flavor the soup. So again, maybe this was my fault because I didn't know how to use all of these condiments for the meal.

So I guess the problem was that I treated it like a ramen when it was such a different soup dish. I'm definitely going to try again though.

I've had good food that is good. But I've also had food that is bad, and thus it is bad. You should eat food that is good according to your tastes so that food is good to you. Do not eat food that is bad to your taste, it will be bad to you. If the food is bad to you, then understand it is bad to you. Yes. Bad food, bad to you, so good food seek to be good to your tasting the good food. These are my good food recommendations.

noodles as takeouts are generally bad ideas. They tend to be overdone and a mess by the time you take it home and eat it.

I saw Fairlife was now doing ice cream a little while back. Compared to other ice cream, lower calories and sugar (like half compared to many such as Ben & Jerry's or Hagen Daas), higher protein (like 2-3x), and yet very tasty (much better than similar like Halo Top and others - although many of them are even lower in calories/sugar, often using artificial sweeteners). I don't recommend the chocolate peanut butter, as theirs is meh at best, its peanut butter chocolate ice cream with rectangular chocolate chips versus say a peanut butter cup type of deal. Their mint chip also is weird in that there's pockets of the mint part and those have weird texture to them. Tastes fine but the texture makes it weird. I've actually found their vanilla and chocolate to be the best of the bunch (and they're also the lowest calorie). I also like their chocolate chip cookie dough (which I don't tend to be a fan of, but is probably my third favorite flavor so far). They have some other flavors as well (cookies 'n cream, butter pecan, some chocolate brownie thing, think maybe some others), but none that I tend to like. I'm surprised/disappointed no strawberry yet. I'd also love a banana (with or without chocolate, or maybe peanut butter, or banana split with a bit of cherry - which a chocolate and cherry would be good too) one.

Yeah you know what, I'm going to try and find another spot when I get back from Puerto Rico in a few weeks.

Pho & India too are a bit like burgers. If your only experience was a 99-cent burger from the dollar menu at McDonalds, you'd be like ehhh it's good in a pinch. But if you go to maybe Five Guys or something & get a custom-made double burger with cheese, onions, pickles, etc. then it's a nice step up from your typical drive-through fast-food quality burger. And then if you go to a BBQ or actual burger restaurant where they do an inch-thick patty with like Monterey cheese melted on top, butter lettuce, a brioche bun, etc. then that's an entirely different experience lol. Quality pho is one of the most mind-blowing meals on the planet, but it's hard to find a place that does good noodles AND good broth AND proper eggs AND amazing pork in their ramen.

I do enjoy a burger on a nice brioche bun, that's what I use when I make burgers at home now.

My preference is a nice toasted onion-bagel personally.

In fact I don't care for the new BK rolls at all since to me at least they taste like movie theater popcorn butter. I prefer the sandwich's there on Whopper seeded rolls.

I've used toasted bagels quite a few times as well, it's also a solid option.

Rocky Road Sea Salt candy bars are okay but not as good as the original Rocky Road bars.

I haven't searched real hard, but do any of you connoisseurs know if you can still get 1 dollar breakfast tacos at taco bell? They aren't on the menu anymore, but I loved them. A buck for some eggs, little cheese and bacon in a tortilla. Low cal, cheap, and fast.
The new taco bell breakfast menu is pretty blah.

I did the same thing, kind of being too much of a gring-0 by thinking they had to be similar noodle soups. I had to try it a few times and then I was sold on it's unique flavor profile. When I get it now I can't stop eating a good bowl of Pho. Totally unique flavor profile. I'll DM you the place I like around me, you are close by. And the poke place I think is respectable. I doubt it's as good as a top place in Cali but I think it's tasty.

I had one of those a few years back the last time they offered it. It was pretty good, but a little heavy on the garlic.

From the best taco cart in the neighborhood, always a good pickup on the evening dog walk. 10 bucks = 3 Al Pastor and 1 Pollo - plus some of their roasted onion/scallion goodness.
