Been thinking about it for a while. I'm -8.50 in both eyes (pretty bad). I would love to be able to see without glasses or contacts. I currently wear rigid gas permeable contacts and do really well with them. I'm waiting for technology to come a little further before I let people chop up my eyeballs.

You do realize that your poll has so many options it's impossible to take anything useful away from it?

So you just admitted to being a jackass. Nice.

You say jackass, I hear protester.

Don't get me wrong, it's something I was tempted to do myself...but it still being a jackass.

Thanks for ruining the poll. The point of this is to find out the experiences of people who've had lasik, so those thinking about getting it can learn from them, so an option for those who haven't had it isn't needed.

I had lasik 5 years ago. I would still recommend, however since day 1 after lasik until today my vision at night/dark places is not the same.

Before lasik & wearing contacts I could read the titles of books in the garage without turning on the light. Since lasik I have to turn on the light.

I had LASIK done about 2 years ago. For the first month, my eyes were very dry and required eye drops. I was able to gradually get off the eye drops and do not need them today. The only downside to the surgery is my night vision is not as crisp as during the day. Star-points are a problem, but I was aware of that going into the procedure. It's more of a nuisance than a detriment. I would (and have) recommend the procedure to anyone.

Had PRK also...no dry eyes

how long is the recover time for PRK?

Much, much longer than Lasik. Mine was 1 month. The first week was very sad...itchy eyes and felt the need to kick myself for what happened. It DOES gradually get better that after that week, I could see comfortably enough to go to work and even install laminate flooring throughout the house.

Had LASIK about 6 years ago when it was new. You know the fuzzy you get when looking at stuff? Well I get that on light sources still (overlayed on the crisp image), but only when it is dark enough out (i.e. when my eyes are dilated enough).

Oh, and I would do it again a million times over.

I was -5 and -5.5.
