Did this ever actually come in stock (the e6600 at newegg)?

Dude, like...read the post three lines up...

Didn't catch the line on them not having been in stock yet . Easy dude, easy... it's not a crime to have skimmed past something.

Again, if you're not going to read the thread don't post in the thread. You are several hours and pages late on this. There are at least ten posts on this so you apparently skimmed past a lot.

Takes a long time to read through so many posts, especially when you want a quick answer that ANYONE WHO HAD READ THE THREAD ALREADY could answer in 5 seconds flat .

Not only is it incredibly difficult to look at the parts laying there, completely useless and yearing for me to piece them together, but as each day passes, I'm afraid I'll have a harder time making returns should something fail to work.

I hate paper launches...

The same thing happened to me. I have had most of my parts about two weeks now expecting i'd be able to get the chip and motherboard when they came out. (This is my first time building a computer.)

Unfortunately now it appears some of these things will sit for more than 30 days before I can put them together (current dell POS won't accept most of the parts I bought.)

I have everything except the motherboard and CPU now (Also want the 6600, like EVERYBODY else.)

On a related note, I am trying to get the ASUS P5W DH Deluxe motherboard. I was watching it on newegg because they had an ETA of 8/5, but that came and went with no news (I had the auto-notify as well.) Does anybody know a reliable site I can get this motherboard from? Or a different motherboard that I should be able to get the FSB running at 400mhz on? I want to try my hand at overclocking, but that is about as high as I need to go I think.

Thanks

im seriously considering right now, to buy a e6400 and just upgrade down the road, i use my computer to do photoshop, premiere occasionally, and Maya 7 for animation.

and of course, gaming occasionally, if something is out and is great.

So think i should just say forget it, i mean with all this price gouging, im going over my 1k budget for mobo/mem/vid card/cpu

ADVICE?

Wait a week and see what things look like then. If nothing else a few days may save you $20-$30 on an E6400 and it will probably see ZZF get some reasonably priced E6600 in stock.

Well, it seems like alot of retailers have the E6300 & E6400 in stock.
Perhaps intel is stockpiling the other ones to prevent price gouging.
I think this is true because the E6600 is in high demand, so, Intel will have to supply alot of them at once to prevent gouging.

But if Intel stockpiles, then they basically guarantee gouging due to the artificially decreased supply relative to the other chips. If this was their intent, then the proper way to prevent gouging would have been to not announce availability until sufficiently large quantities of chips had shipped to retailers to cope with the initial demand.

At this point, the longer Intel waits to flood the channel with chips (assuming Intel even can...), the worse the gouging situation will get.

I can wait until next Monday at the absolute latest. That's totally the limit though. :/

Oh no its AGP 8x, but for some reason i cant run my 6800ultra agp, or 5900 fx, only my winfast geforce3 ti 200.

and 2 usb ports dont work on the mobo.

So i was gonna upgrade to C2D, but this happened last week, so now im MORE motivated to upgrade, cuz of these stupid problems.

TigerDirect sent me an email saying they are scheduled to receive a shipment of E6600s on 8/10. Of course, my E6600 has been on backorder since 7/28 (10 days now).

If you look through the posts from earlier today you will see it was $570.

What bothers me is the sheer lack of good information. These sites feel some need to keep lieing and making false promises, binding themselves to impossible dates in order to appease us. All I want is the truth. If I have to wait another damn month to get my hands on my e6600, let me know now (it would have been better to know 2 weeks ago) and I'll plan accordingly. But I keep jumping date to date, saying to myself "Ah yes, the NDA was released today, but later in July I'll get my hands on one" "Ah, of course, I'll wait for August" "Hmm, looks like the 7th is the big day".

I'm sorry if I sound toddler like, all impatient and demanding, but I'm only human, and this little game is tormenting me, depriving me of what I yearn!

Nah, I'm with you. It really bothers me that I can't get a friggin straight answer out of anyone. If Intel were to just inform their retailers that they would be shipping on X date, have the product THERE on that date, and then let them know when they are allowed to sell them, just like EVERY OTHER PRODUCT, it wouldn't be such a fiasco.

The retailers don't seem to have a damned clue when the chips are coming, and Intel isn't telling, which is a pain. It just generally leads to unhappy customers.

I move that we all use Apple computer as a scapegoat, partially because by using core 2 chips in their new systems they've placed an additional strain on demand, but mostly because I just plain don't like Apple, ever since they decided to start advertising their products as being better than PC's.

Damned Apple computer, and their ruining of the core 2 launch!!!

My guess is that Intel is giving either vague or contradictory information to the distributors (you know how big companies are, one hand doesn?t have a clue what the other is doing) who are then giving a series of dates to the retailers in order to cover their asses and they probably toss in a best case scenario as well. The retailers then decide that they can only publish one so they might as well go with the best-case scenario. With every step through the channel things get more convoluted and optimistic.

Frankly I think Intel should have simply posted a page online, hired a few temps and for the first two weeks of the launch sold all of the chips to the public through Intel only at a preset and fixed price while supplies last. Then by the end of the two weeks all of the retailers will have chips in stock and be ready to go. Unlike the retailers and distributors, Intel doesn?t have an incentive to lie about day-to-day availability as it?s the only seller so it doesn?t need to compete and as such can avoid all of this confusion and aggravation. Central organization would also clear up a lot of the problems. The retailers would bitch about lost revenues but why should Intel care? The customers would be happy (or at least not angry at having been left in the dark) and Intel could pad its wallet a little.

I just got an email from Monarch saying that they expect their first shipment of E6600s to arrive on the 21st, so if anyone else ordered from them... Looks like we'll be waiting a while.
