ScrewEgg now has an ETA on the E6600, it's 8/14 so don't get to excited. You would think they would drop their price down and then if they think they can get more raise it when they get stock but I guess they don't even want to pretend to have a good value.

Well that sucks...and also they bumped the price up another $40 for that chip.

However, I stopped by a local PC specialty store this morning to see if they knew anything, and was surprised to find that they actually had some E6400's lying around. They said that the "expect the E6600 to come in Thursday or Friday, because the chips just left Intel today". No idea if that will actually hold true, but they said they'd be selling them for $360, so if they actually do show, I think I'll just get one there, and be done with all this newegg price gouging and nobody else actually having the chips crap.

Just got a call from ChipsAndMemory where I ordered my P5W DH, they said they cancelled my order because they were indeed out of stock but made an error when I talked to them on the phone. Back to square one.

Microcenter just called me to verify my order, credit card, etc. She said, "OK, it should ship out in 1 to 3 business days." Just like the web site says.

I asked if the item (x6800) was in stock, and she said yes, but it might not get out today, but should ship tomorrow.

Not the most reassuring phone call, but I guess the fact that they called me to verify is a good sign.

My shiny new E6400 is supposed to be delivered tomorrow according to FedEx. Got it from spacecentersystems.com ($261 shipped). They originally had it listed at $229 when I ordered (last week) then they called Friday and told me it was actually $249 and it shipped Monday. We'll see what it looks like when it arrives, they have really mixed reviews on the various sites.

As far as I know they've shipped nothing yet. However they're part of the main distributer of Conroes (ie Ingram Micro). Their prices are very competitive and orders are very easy to cancel if you find a better deal.

I wouldn't hesitate to order from them as a backup source.

You should read the reviews on ResellerRatings.com for microcenter before you place your order.

I just went to Microcenter's website and although they say that they have Core 2 Duo CPUs "100% in stock... while supplies last..." they are OEM and only come with a 90 Day warranty without the fan or heatsink. Personally, I don't think $360 for such a CPU is worth that much.

I ordered an E6600 from Buy.com for $324 including shipping and although it may take a while, I know I'll be getting a good deal.
