Forza just crashed on IGN's live stream right before what was going to be an EPIC crash. Bum.

Yeah, that was unfortunate. As a real life RX-8 owner, I thought it was pretty sweet that they were driving one for a bit.

And apparently the cloud-based drivatar system turns the AI into complete assholes (this is verbatim from a review). It makes things unpredictable, which can be good, but it means you'll be swapping paint as the AI crashes into you for no apparent reason, and that sounds... well, stupid, frankly. Forza's AI has been pretty consistently good; why replace it with the driving behavior of 13-year-old Xboxers treating you as another obstacle they can smash into?

If I'm not mistaken, you're able to pick certain people/drivatars to race against, i.e. people you're following or friends with. I'm sure there's an option for it to just pick or mish-mash random drivatars, but once you're able to race against certain people, that's what it was meant for.

I think a problem the reviewers are having is there are like 15 total people playing right now, so the drivatar AI is not really using a robust amount of data.

Just to point out while not completely disagreeing with your post. The part missing is more Drivatars. It isn't some super IA trying to build up a perfect driver by comparing info. You will always be driving against a bunch of singular Drivatars based on a single person's driving habits. They talk about you earning in game credits based on the results of your Drivatar in other peoples games when not on.

Where the data probably comes in is if you have only raced a couple of races and are over running turns and crashing players unintentionally as you figure out the controls and responsiveness, your drivatar is going reflect that. As you become better and your driving less and less eratic your drivatar will do the same. So right now between people being more aggressive in SP, getting used to the game, people testing physics by attempting burnout style accidents, and how highly this activity will be weighted because the lack of data on a player, will lead to some pretty wild driving by the AI.

On top of that, if I was a professional troll, I would be so tempted to get several 14 day gold trials to create several live accounts just to make some dickatars to ruin peoples SP races.

You won't have to spend that much. One gold account carries over to all accounts (created/associated?) on that console.

Hmm. I do have 9 days off after getting the Xbox. Bet I could flood the market with Dickatars .

It just occurred to me that I havent heard a word about tuning and upgrades. Weird that part of the game isnt being emphasized at all. It used to be the core experience next to the actual driving.

It's been mentioned in the reviews... Tuning and upgrading is still there.

The reviews seem to kind of gloss over that stuff, but they say if you loved the previous Forza's, you will love this one (exception being the limited release content).

Ok, I watched some forza5 streams. I have to say that the game looks amazing. It runs on a hardware comparable to hd7770 in 1080p and 60 (stable?) fps.

I had PSX and PS2, never touched Xbox. Skipped last gen entirely due to pricing, school and building new house.

GT7 is rumored to be in 2014 (late) at earliest, and knowing GT series, it will end up in 2015. I love racing games, was huge fan of Gran Turismo series. And I think I'm falling for forza now.

Looks great, simulation seem to be nice, human-like AI, multiplayer, DAMAGE! model... Some of these things that are NOW in forza will not make it to GT7 in 2015.

It is not a secret that Xbox one is slower console (GPU power). But my question is: Is ps4 that much faster, that it compansates for forza (and not only) exclusive. PS4 seems to have no exclusives! Even MGS makes its way to xbone .

PS4 seems like a cheap gaming machine close to PC. Those platforms will share most of the titles. One of the biggest reasons to take PS4 over xbone is graphics horsepower. But thing is, if you are really looking for graphics quality, you may upgrade your PC and call it a day.

And here I am. Trying to make a decision. I probably should take this into PS4 and its exclusives discussion thread. Sorry

If you're a fan of simulation racing games, Forza has been the better series over the past few games. I haven't played Forza 5, or GT6 (obviously), but Forza 4 was a better game than GT5 and Forza 3 was better than GT4 (it helped that it came out 3 years afterwards because Gran Turismo games come out on a glacial calendar). Exclusives are becoming less and less important since most games seem to be multi-platform releases, but it terms of exclusive racing games, Microsoft has been better for the past few years and there's no reason to think that trend won't continue.

I'm curious to know if the ones running in their store were actual consoles then (before the release). If not, that'd be a let down.

For anyone who has played forza a bit when do you get out of the awful tutorial? It is highly annoying. When can I get to the menu to buy and upgrade cars and choose races at my leisure? I seem to be stuck going from race to race with some commentary. I wish I could opt out of this but it doesn't appear you can.

4 races then just start hitting b till you are back at garage. Side comment anyone else getting market place option in pounds or euros. The LaFerrari pack and season pass are both in non USD for me.

Yeah I played a few more and found that. I didn't see foreign currency listed but my credit/tokens didn't appear for my limited edition purchase. They are working on fixing that
