anyone else notice that simulation steering has gotten a LOT more direct feeling? In forza 4 I always still felt that there was some dampening of the inputs going on but it no longer feels that way in F5. Cars prone to snap oversteer really show it with sim steering on. you basically can almost never go full left or right on the stick without fishtailing.

i love the trigger vibration though. a lot more feedback and even though it might not be realistic, makes it more possible to race without ABS for example.

Yes, simulation mode steering is fantastic.

i spent some time on the forza forums last night and learned of a lot of little things that were left out of the game. no multiplayer replays for example. still, went back and played for 2 enjoyable hours after that.

The only thing i'm really bummed about is no nurburgring. Guarantee it is going to be paid DLC and that bothers me, even though i'll probably still buy it. Already bought the season pass...

So, I've been seriously neglecting Forza since I've gotten the Xbox One. I am going to put in some time today after work though!

I bought the day one edition today, what's the opinion on the force wheel vs. gamepad?

neither of the wheels does it for me right now due to no clutch pedal, so i've been sticking with the controller. the game plays well with the controller.

Okay, so after spending a few hours the reviewers are right. The Drivatars are assholes. Not because they are too aggressive, but simply because they suffer from AI "bubble". They don't give you the space if you're passing and just stick to their line. It is like they have no idea there is anyone else on the track. Passing etiquette is not observed at all, to the point it is annoying. I made a perfect turn, the guy in front of my made a terrible turn and I was passing him in the proper racing line. Instead of staying inside and letting me pass, as I was obviously going faster than him, he just came on over and hit me... That is stupid. This is 2013, that shit should be unacceptable.

Interesting, the drivatars have been reasonably smart for me... Letting me pass when I clearly "won" the corner. By percentage though too many of them are super aggressive for my taste. I am sick of being PIT maneuvered by the AI.

That is pretty good.

My friend made a Drivatar at one of his friends house and hasn't been able to pick up an Xbox One yet. He is in literally 100% of my races so far. I can only imagine how much money he is going to have when he finally starts playing for real.

Been doing some open wheel racing today and I love it. Somehow, I had a Lotus E21 in my garage. Strangely, it isn't the same as the one for sale. Mine is rated X999 and the others are P998. Maybe, it is some gift some the VIP pack.

I haven't spent a single car token yet and probably will end up picking up some super car at some point. There is no real reason to use it for level ups, as you just get money instead of cars for rewards.

So you spent $60 for the game, $50 for the 'Season Pass', $XX for Xbox Live, and STILL won't have Nurburgring? You're right, they'll probably try to gank another $50 out of you for 4 tracks or something. I loved Forza, but I'm done with them forever now. Project CARS looks way better anyway.

That's if Project cars ever releases.

It should, the builds are getting REALLY good, and you can play it already if you are a sponsor. Even in alpha form, it looks better than F5, and yes, I've played it a bit. I skipped Forza4 and Horizon because it felt already like too much rehash happening, but loved my time particularly with Forza 1, 2, and 3.

It's not vaporware The only thing I'd worry about is some evil group like EA buying them out.

and latest build :

With this, I will politely leave this thread. I am far from the only one tired of the nickel and dime method. Yes, one could never spend a dime on Forza 5 besides the initial release, but there's no arguing that Forza5 vanilla is a lesser title in terms of content compared to previous Forza games.

Whatever, I played it too and the physics sucked. I don't care if it looks good if it plays like it's on ice skates.

That could change. I haven't played it since the end of October, but didn't have any problem with the physics at that time. I just know I'm done with Forza unless F6 is the full game and zero artificially-limited DLC. Forza 1 is a more complete title, this shouldn't be the case. Of course, Project CARS could turn into a huge money sink too depending on how they handle it. All I ask is a fleshed out game for $60, one that has far more than 12 tracks.

It's not like the entire world has moved to DLC land, though it's disturbingly high. After all, you can buy Super Mario 3d World, and it's all there. A complete game with obscenely good reviews. It's not even a monopoly with Nintendo, there's stuff like The Last of Us, the Halo games if you're a fan of those, etc.

Nothing was artificially limited. They dimply weren't given the time to add more stuff. I have said it time after time. It's the same as with Killer Instinct. Microsoft wanted a game out the door, as complete as could be made.

Well that's artificially limited at Microsoft's behest. Is it not? If the tracks come free to people that paid full price, then I'd argue on behalf of Forza that they are doing their customers right by at least completing the game after the fact. If they come out with a $$ track pack, then that's a little shady (not like most of the game business isn't a bit shady at this point).

That's a really slippery slope right there. What is a "non-artificial" limit then?

When the disc is full? Screw it, put it on multiple discs.
When there are no real world tracks left? Start making up fake ones.
When the game engine can't take anymore? Build a better game engine.
When Turn10 has maxed out its budget? Take out a loan.
When the console's life span is almost up? Build it on the next gen.

Every project has a list of external constraints imposed upon it and you do what you can within those constraints. If you feel like you're not getting enough game because of decisions necessitated by those constraints don't buy it. Don't try and convince others that they somehow made a bad choice in buying something they wanted with their own money.

So is Forza 5 a proper sim now or is it still arcade like handling when you drive with a wheel? Is anyone even using a wheel with it yet considering the old wheels are incompatible?

I don't know how it is with a wheel but with the steering set to simulation it is fantastic on the controller. Significantly more realistic than before.

It isn't entirely simulation, but it is pretty close. Compared to NFS and Burnout type racers, it is as close as we're going to get.

Sadly, I feel 4 wheel drive cars still have a huge advantage in this one.
