Forza 5: Play Past Games, Get Free Cars
If you've played Forza Motorsport 2, Forza Motorsport 3, Forza Motorsport 4, or Forza Horizon on Xbox 360, you may be eligible for free, new cars when you start playing Forza Motorsport 5 on Xbox One.

Starting today, players can login to Forza Rewards and claim in-game credits based on their experience with the series. The tier level you're in is determined by numerous factors, including achievements earned, miles driven, and more. According to Microsoft, all rewards are stackable, "so if you are Tier 5, you get that level's rewards plus all the lower-tier cars and credit bonuses."

Tier 2: Ford Fiesta, 10,000 Credits

Tier 3: Audi RS 7, 20,000 Credits

Tier 4: Ferrari F12, 40,000 Credits

Tier 5: McLaren P1, 80,000 Credits

Nice car list. I don't think I'll get many points but it's cool they are doing something like this. I have the limited edition paid off which is supposed to come with bonus credits too.

I have the limited edition pre-ordered.. very excited for this game!! Currently the only wheel is the $399 thrust master Ferrari wheel. Madcatz has a wheel coming out, hopefully it's a little less pricey and works with my playseat. Any news on any other wheels?

I'm still 100% on the fence about getting this game. The X1 launch is extremely good, too many games I'd like to have and not enough money.

I already have the VIP preordered. I do wish they had the Bugatti EB 110. It is such a beautiful car and amazing compared to that ugly, monstrosity Veyron.

If you guys end up having a racing night, let me know.

Just read something that now confuses me. Microsoft claims that the 1,250 car tokens you get from the limited edition is enough to puchase any car in the game from the beginning.

What is the difference between car tokens and in-game credits?

edit: meh I should have googled first lol. Apparently Tokens are the currency you buy from XBL and use to get cars. You can't sell or gift any cars you buy with tokens. In Forza 4 the most expensive cars cost about 3 tokens(no word if this continues in 5). Each token was about $1. They are giving you $9.99 worth of tokens with the limited edition to get you started with some of the hotter cars. The credits you earn in the game are the base currency for the game. Anything you buy with credits can be sold or gifted as normal. I never bought tokens or researched them so I had no clue. I also read that tokens cannot be used to purchase cars from other players who auction their cars up with custom paint and tuning.

That rewards site is complete BS. It is based on achievements... I played Forza 1-4 and I only got 336 points.

Well, I sure hope I can buy the P1 in game without these garbage points. =(

You get achievements for simple things so if you really played them through the career mode you should have a decent number of points. I only played 2 a little bit then 3 quite a bit but didn't do much in horizon or 4 and I had about as many points as you.

I will get the P1 simply from having over a thousand tokens to use up. I don't intend to gift or sell my cars.

I am frustrated in that I have a Fanatec wheel setup that won't work with XB1, and that is motivating me to get a PS4, which likely will work with it. I want Forza 5 and Titanfall more than any of the PS4 titles announced to date. Forza 5 looks amazing. It'd be nice if they would at least release GT6 on the PS4, but so far there's no sign of that.

Don't count on it...It sounds like Fanatec is balking at the fact that they need to write their OWN SDK and cannot use Logitech's. Drive Club developer Evolution Studios has said that their game will work with any wheel provided the manufacturer provides them with an SDK. Sony is not going to write an SDK for them, developers won't write an SDK, the manufacturer of the device has to and so far only Thrustmaster has done so. The funniest thing is they sell a $400+ wheel and use emulated drivers from Logitech to get it to work on the PS3. They can't be bothered to even write their own device drivers or SDK for the product they sell for that much money?

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=658933

LOGITECH has discontinued their console peripheral division in 2013 and there is no sign they will continue to produce new models of the wheels too. It has to be noted how Logitech was using Immersion Company's licensed force feedback SDK - TouchSense™ - that was both powering their haptic force feedback and communicated with either PS2/PS3 console via their SDK. It has to be seen how will that affect compatibility of their legacy models for PS4 (Formula GT, Driving Force GT, DFP, DFGT G25, G27, Wingman Formula...) because in order for that wheels to work both Sony and Logitech has to agree on support and I presume Immersion Co. should be payed some royalites as well (not sure about this because I do not know is the license for fuctionality based on platform or device).

Quote from Logitech (26-08-13):

FANATEC was using their own version of emulated Logitech's SDK to run their wheels on PS3 console in either G25/G27 mode (model dependable) and I guess situation with legacy Fanatec models (GT3V2, GT2, PWTS, CSR, CSRE, CSW) will solely depend on situation about Logitech compatibility (as described above). Of course, Fanatec could either try to develop their own PS4 SDK (would be the best solution, but I am not certain would legacy models support such SDK, probably could, but we do not know) or emulate some theoretical "supported" one (such as Thrustmasters's, but that is very unlikely from various reasons I do not want to go into now). Fanatec clarification about possible next-gen compatibility of current models (23-08-13) added below.

As obvious from quote above, the fact that some SDK worked on PS3 does not mean anything for the PS4 as platform. So, at this point we have no real idea about actual PS4 support for wheel peripherals from the previous generation.

Fanatec on next-gen consoles support

I have a clear vision of what the ideal wheel looks like and how it should work with consoles.
The direction the platfrom (sic) holders are taking at the moment is concerning me and I wonder how consumer friendly their concepts really are.
It is better for us if we first watch carefully what is possible and how we can fully exploit the potential of the new platforms. This will pay off later and I will leave the current buzz to others
A few people are wondering why we are so quiet. We will not make the mistake again to mention new things too early. We will announce something new if production is about to start. We are working on several products for several platforms and every one of our new products will set a new benchmark as they did in the past.
We are also trying hard to protect the investment of our existing customers by making our current products upwards compatible. But we cannot confirm that before the final consoles are released.

I'm the same way, but think I'll just do DriveClub instead until next-gen console prices get more reasonable. I can't justify $500 for a single game.

Watch this fully, looks really good actually :

I have a friend who has hundreds of hours in each and has like 3000 points. So, not even enough to buy a single car.

Really? What tier is 3000 points?

It's tier 4, starts at 2500 points, tier 5 is 4500. I was hoping to get to tier 5 before the launch but it looks like the only way to do it will be to buy DLC from 4 and Horizon and buy tokens.

I don't see how you can say it is based on achievements. I have 228 points just from 38/50 days played in Forza 4, not to mention the many other categories such as mileage driven. Is your Xbox not hooked up to Xbox Live?

Forza Motorsport 5 Car Pass Priced

Forza Motorsport 5 Car Pass Priced
First 10 car pack to be available on launch day, includes the new LaFerrari.

Microsoft has revealed the Forza Motorsport 5 Car Pass will set players back USD$49.99/AUD$ $64.95 and the first pack will be ready for the game’s launch on November 22.

Several days ago Turn 10 announced plans to support Forza Motorsport 5 with a series of DLC car packs following the launch. Previous Forza titles have been similarly supported. The Forza 5 car pass will cover six packs of 10 cars.

According to Microsoft the car pass is said to represent an 18 per cent discount compared with purchasing them individually. As with previous Forza games players will be able purchase the monthly car packs in bundles or just grab individual cars à la carte

The LaFerrari Car Pack, available on launch day, will feature Ferrari’s new 950-hp hybrid hypercar and nine additional vehicles yet to be announced. Subsequent packs will be available the first week of every month, beginning January through March 2014.

Mmmmm.... LaFerrari

I didn't really look at it. And I did play the majority of my Forza offline.

Car packs every month...ugh.

That is how it was with Forza 4 I'm sure as well. The only problem I had was that you had to buy the entire pack to get the special unicorn car. Those were the only ones I wanted. =(

The season pass stuff really kills me with Forza. To get the game Day One and the car packs totals $110 without tax or the Limited Edition. On top of that, 1/2 of the cars in the packs I will never touch and maybe 1-5 cars in one year's worth of packs becomes something I drive very often.

Then don't buy the packs? You can buy the 1-5 cars a year IF you want them. The only cars I want are usually the special car included only in the entire pack and the Porsche Pack.

The only annoyance I have is that I have to download each of the pack's models myself. Otherwise, I can't see the cars in game. That should be a patch Forza does itself. I shouldn't have to go download the cars just to see race against me.

I agree, it just takes away from my car collector OCD and it is hard to figure out what those 1-5 cars I love are without driving them

That I also agree with.
