I'm a techie, I've spent a lot of money on MYSELF in the deals forum. How can I 'beat' a reg member to the deals? They are the ones that post them.

Google uses the same technology on your e-mail as it does on your searches when generating text ads. So if you have a large discussion about baseball with a friend, you may see ads directed toward baseball fans on the side. I don't see a problem with it and personally don't mind ads that I may be interested in. Much better than ads floating across the page in front of the text, they are worse than pop-ups.

My mom sent me some recipes...
and next to those...I saw ads to sites with Indian recipes (Same as my mom sent me). How wierd / great is that. There are also some relevant links....not necessarily ads....so...kool huh!!

The ACLU and Californians can just not sign up for gmail. You can already get targeted ads based on your IP address. What does it matter? Like my e-mail is worth reading. I like the ads on gmail; no flash or animated graphics. Very nice.

I have only one thought abt Noob's posting requests for gmails.... what good does it do... other than increase their post count??

I, for one, like to give it only to those who havent received any invites... and I presume that that person would be ethical enough to PM me ONLY if they dont have a gmail account. If they just post a message... will someone give em an account.. and if so... will they get more than one?? One never knows.... Thats why I like my PM method. . . and thats why I dont understand why noob's post requests on this thread.
