I got an invite from elsewhere but once I filled out the form I keep giving server not available errors. I will try on campus tomorrow since it might be just my internet (which would still suck) but if I ever get it working i'll be sure to put some invites here as well.

Okay, finally got one to share. First one to post the correct answer get the invite link.

Here's the question:

The tombstone of JRR Tolkien and his wife bear certain inscriptions. What's the 2nd name of the Tolkien's character whose name is on his wife's tombstone, and what does it mean.

Good luck!

Ouch... Lúthien...

"She was (and knew she was) my Luthien. I will say no more now. But I should like ere long to have a long talk with you. For if as seems probable I shall never write any ordered biography--it is against my nature, which expresses itself about things deepest felt in the tales and myths--someone close in heart to me should know something about things that records do not record: the dreadful sufferings of our childhoods, from which we rescued one another, but could not wholly heal wounds that later often proved disabling; the sufferings that we endured after our love began--all of which (over and above personal weaknesses) might help to make pardonable, or understandable, the lapses and darknesses which at times marred our lives--and to explain how these never touched our depths nor dimmed the memories of our youthful love. For ever (especially when alone) we still met in the woodland glade and went hand in hand many times to escape the shadow of imminent death before out last parting." ~On why we wishes to include the name "Luthien" on Edith's tombstone (written to Christopher Tolkien)

"[Christopher, Tolkien's third son, had grown into] a nervy, irritable, cross-grained, self-tormenting, cheeky person. Yet there is something intensely loveable about him, to me at any rate, from the very similarity between us."

right track still?

Right track, but once again wrong answer. The question is *very* specific and has been designed to foil mindless googlers

Tolkien and his wife are buried in the same grave. Below his name on the tombstone is inscribed "Beren" and below Edith's name is inscribed "Lúthien," in honor of two characters from The Silmarillion.

Not quite! Or completely, that is!

"Her name Lúthien means Enchantress in the language of the Sindarin Elves, but her true name - Tinúviel - which means Nightingale, is the name Beren used to call her by, and thus he stole her heart away..."

Ah well.

It was worth a try I guess.

Anyone willing to spare a gmail invite for a member of the active US Army?

I need something to compensate for my pay cut.

*edit*

email is dong.y.kim AT us DOT army DOT mil

Hey there Snipersheep - do you recall how long it was before you received invites to pass around? Or perhaps what might have triggered that part of your 'lottery'?
