installed the new app store app on my iPhone, did a reservation through that, took about 1 minute. who knows if its any good though. The app gave me pricing of $199 for 16gb, and im not eligible for that pricing yet.

No confirmation email or anything yet. But its the best shot I've got.

edit: just got a confirmation email, says my phone will be at the apple store on June 24th at 7am. and it says the price is $599.00, it should be $399.00. reservation is apparently good until the close of business on the 24th.

Yeah, their system is screwy - my friend got his email and it said $599, but it should be $199.

I phone in an order through work for 5.. took less than 20 minutes to give them all the existing numbers.. i couldn't get my gf's order (non business account).. plus I just found out white isn't available till summer... so she'll have to wait..

BTW Steve Job's next job is to build an ordering management system and sell it around the world... So when a product is release, system can actually take orders and not crash...

one of the most advanced devices and people are waiting on line using credit card slips to buy it..

Well I decided to try what others had done and downloaded the Apple store app on my 3GS. I was able to make a reservation at a local Apple store and the 24th. It went through no problem and I got a confirmation email. I still wonder if it actually went through or not. I got the email but there really isnt any information in it just says 'your reservation for the 24th is made, come in then to pick up your iPhone 4.

I just managed to get through on the AT&T webpage, got it preordered for 399. The app store thing is JUST a reservation, and really just means you get to go stand in line and maybe by the time you get to the front they will have some left.

Yea, once the system actually starts working I will try to get a reservation and then stop by the Apple store on the way in to work.

Just got an order in through the AT&T site, guess I can cancel the useless "reservation" I made through the App.

The reservations aren't useless. You are gauranteed one on launch day if you reserve. I had to stop by the apple store today and asked. You did sign in with your apple ID (and put in your telephone number/zip code/ss #), so they have all your information.

Well I finally go through on the Apple store and selected pick up in store. But all it did was display a page saying 'we'll see you in the store' and says to bring a photo id. Ive had enough of this trying to pick it up in the store. Im just going to have it shipped to me. Ill still get it on the 24th.

I stayed up til 1 a.m to pre order the new Iphone unfortunately the white one is not available. I guess I'll wait.

Just as an FYI:

The apple.com store finally appears to be working (as of a few mins ago) and I was able to reserve my phone for pickup on the 24th.

AT&T has also just announced they are sold out of pre-orders...insane.

Yep - took my work mate 8 hrs to finally get an order. I am waiting for the white one - even if it is another month or so.. .

The wife and I are at the mall right now and there is a line out the door at the AT&T store of people trying to preorder. It's ridiculous.

Haven't walked by the apple store yet. It's always crowded in there anyway on a normal day though.

I went to the Apple store today (Bridgewater), and it wasn't any more crowded than normal. Went up to the first available guy in a blue shirt and asked if I could pre-order an iPhone. He said "you can try..." and directed me to a computer to pre-order it on the Apple website. Oh well.

No way in hell I'd give AT&T an opportunity to screw up my order.

Swung by an AT&T store and pre-ordered in about 5 minutes, the systems were working fine there around 7:30pm EST and the store was empty. Wasted 4 hours this morning trying to do it online.

Well I pre-ordered a white 32GB iPhone 4 at BestBuy. Their ETA for the white version is mid August. My wife definitely wants the white version so she's willing to wait.

Hmm I think my preorder went through after 14 hours of trying. It wouldn't let me have it shipped to me, I had to reserve one at the Apple store. It said my reservation was confirmed, but I have not received an email or anything. Is that normal? Is there anyone I can call to confirm it went through?

We were in freehold. I wasn't preordering, just happened to be there.

Finally got through. Preordered my phone and it will be delivered to my house on the 24th. YAY!

Got my new 32gb ordered today; the system was down for about 2 hours but the entire process (once the system was back up) took only about 20 minutes

Agreed. I think it's stupid. Not a single person I know of could get through either. This is over-inflated hype to sell it's stock IMO. I know the 4 is a big upgrade, but no one could get through, so I highly doubt they really sold out.
