Agreed. I think it's stupid. Not a single person I know of could get through either. This is over-inflated hype to sell it's stock IMO. I know the 4 is a big upgrade, but no one could get through, so I highly doubt they really sold out.

Um, I got through as did 2 friends. In addition, a whole bunch of people on MacRumors and other sites got through (though they admittedly were outnumbered by those that didn't by a wide margin).

Considering that Apple is launching it in multiple countries at the same time and the high demand, I don't think it is far fetched at all to see them sell out. Besides, yesterday's action won't impress shareholders-what they want to see is that Apple can meet demand. So I doubt Apple is artificially constraining supply lol.

Besides, Apple has just sold out of the pre-order batch, and I am sure there will be phones at stores for first-come, first serve. Only the crazies that camp out will get those though.

Got an upgrade order through around 6PM EST. Have yet to be sent a confirmation email, but I checked the order status online and it appears to be processing. Little worried about never receiving a confirmation email. Makes me wonder if I was logged into someone else's account and didn't notice.

Agreed. But based upon the last three years I don't have high hopes. I might try and wait in line on the 24th, but we shall see.

Apple just announced: 600,000 preorders taken.

AT&T said their preorder numbers were 10x higher than last year...I wonder if Apple's 600K figure includes partners like Radioshack, AT&T, BB, etc, or if it is just apple.com orders.

Anyone who was able to get through on the apple site and complete their pre-order have problems with their credit card being charged?

I got an email this morning saying that there is additional information required to complete my order. Apparently my credit card was declined and I have no idea why, I even entered it again just to make sure I didnt enter the wrong number by mistake and still the same thing. Looks like I have to call my CC today and find out why they keep declining Apple.

I'm on Sprint right now w/ a Touch Pro. 2. Is AT&T's network going to be able to cope with almost a million activations on the 24th? Will their network be able to handle it?

No I got in on day 1, Tuesday the 15th. Tried at work whenever I had a few minutes, eventually got in about 2:00pm MDT and got it done.

-The photos in good light look pretty great imo (we will see how the phone fares in poor lighting)
-I can't seem to download the HD video, but 1 min of video supposedly takes up ~80mb, so 1 hours worth of video should be ~4. That makes the speed with which iMovie can drag/drop edit those HD clips pretty impressive imo.
-an hour's worth of "playing games, surfing, YouTube and Google Maps" resulted in a battery drain of only 10%, which is awesome depending on how much of that time was games and how much was just surfing.

Eh, I am not too worried about that (I am getting the 16gb), but i dont plan on taking a whole bunch of movies, and it is pretty trivial to put them on your comp and free up space if necessary. I dont see myself just carrying around gigs and gigs of movies I have shot on my phone.
