Despite thinking I shouldn't be able to see the pixels on this "retina display," I'm pretty sure I found a dead one lol. Greaaaat here we go again. Dead pixels plus screen yellowing yay! Beginning to think I'll never get a defect free apple product.

My only issue is battery life; so far, in 24 hours, I've had to charge it 3 times and I've used it for maybe 30 minutes in total. Not happy about that aspect

That's bad by even old iphone standards. Exchange it, it's bad

Sorry dude...that sucks. The display is the best thing about this phone.

The release of the iPhone 4 is making me doubt buying the first generation iPad. I want this same Retina screen on a iPad before I jump.

Haha yeah, tell me about it. It's not a huge deal, but I'll still exchange it. Figure I'll wait a month or two when more stock is available. I feel like while, yes, I'm anal about getting a good screen, I just can't get a break lol.

I wonder what the wait would be if I ordered it now from Apple. ATT is still showing the 29th as the next day that they'll allow orders.

... people are actually buying the iPhone 4 after knowing everything wrong with it? have to be kidding me. I'd at least wait until they release a model with all the fixes, fuck buying a 30 dollar rubber guard because they let some stupid shit slip out of QA.

What are the chances Apple fixes at least one of the reported issues in time for the launch of the white model?

Based on Steve Jobs' response.. I don't think they'll do anything about it. I want to know how widespread this issue really is. I think so far I've seen three people on here that have been able to reproduce it, and Leo on TwiT was able to as well.. so I'm a bit glad I didn't get a pre-order. I'm going to let it bake for a while and see if they release any new info about it.

Anecdotally, 1 of the 6 folks I know with the phone can reproduce the antenna issue. As for the other launch issues:
Yellow spots-might just be glue drying. Even fewer people affected than antenna.
Swapped volume buttons-like 10 people out of 1 million sold, I wouldn't fret haha.

I think a lot of folks forget that we are not going to see six sigma quality in terms of product defect rate on a first-run consumer electronics product. Every product has problem batches, and when hundreds of thousands of folks buy something, you can bet that a few percent are going to have issues, some minor and some major. Thankfully the vast majority don't have any issues.

True, which I don't mind as long as there is a workaround or a way to fix it... but Jobs' comment to just hold your phone differently is weak. I would hate to have the issue and have no recourse.. so I will probably hold off for a few weeks to see.

got my iphone 4 and i love it! i do have the antenna issue, even with the bumper on. it doesnt really affect me though, because my calls dont drop and neither does the quality, so im fine with it.

why are there no 3rd party accessories for this? i have to wait for mine for a few weeks it looks like (incipio feather case and power support screen protector).

Are you sure you're having the issue if you have the bumper on? I don't think it's actually possible if you have the bumper on...

absolutely positive :/ however, its really random...who knows quite honestly. all i know is that none of my calls drop and the quality is a hell of a lot better.

Let me know what happens, I think I've got a dead pixel as well. It's REALLY tiny a la retina display and it's there whenever the screen is anything but black. I was gonna wait a couple weeks to take it in though.

I went to a couple radioshacks today and both had none. I don't think they even received any.

Meh. I wasn't really expecting it to be there anyway... I can wait.

Made an appointment with the genius bar, and got my replacement in 25 minutes. Just pointed out the dust, and the dood said no problem, new phone coming right up.

nice, thanks man! was it dust or a dead pixel? How large was it (if it was really small it was a dead pixel)?

i think the apple dood and i agreed it was a dust particle that somehow go stuck under the glass during the manufacturing process, because the current phones are supposed to be under-the-glass-dust-proof. regardless, dead pixel or otherwise, the apple store will replace.

Wait a tic, I think it's actually not a dead pixel! Huzzah...turns out it's an imperfection on this shit screen protector.

Anyone else noticing how 3G speeds have improved a TON on the new iPhone? Is this due to the improved CPU/RAM increase?

I wish there were some decent case options out.

I'm shocked... Not at the customer service, but that they had extra phones to give you.

I'm shocked he keeps using "dood" in multiple posts like it's cool or accepted English.

Anyway, I checked out a demo unit at a local at&t store yesterday. Out of all the new stuff this phone brings in from the 3GS, my most "anticipated" was the high-res screen, and it did not disappoint in the slightest. It makes my 3G screen look like complete shit now.

I will upgrade when I can walk into a store and buy one. The guy said they were expecting a line Tuesday morning for the next round of units, so I guess I'll be waiting a bit more. I'm definitely not going to stand in line.
