4 inches is perfect, I have been waiting for this for years. Ever since I had a Motorola Atrix I wanted Apple to implement a 4 inch screen because I felt like it was a sweet spot between size, usability, and portability a phone should have. I have the HTC One X right now and the screen is too big for me to handle with hand easily even though physically it's much smaller then what I thought it would be like.

I'm 6 feet tall before anyone says it's because I am short or have small hands or something stupid like that.

Good news Oyeve, the new iPod Touch has the same sapphire crystal lens cover as the iP5.

Overall I'm very impressed with the new iPhone 5. Fast hardware and the chassis built out of premium materials. Its going to feel luxurious in the hand for sure.

I don't think it has anything to do with price, Steve Jobs seemed to dislike bigger screens though so maybe that has something to do with it. I wish they would've made it a 4" screen with the same aspect ratio as before, I don't watch movies on a 4" screen anyway and I'd much rather have black borders around widescreen video than having them around apps.

I think it has to do with the ability for the average person to easily use the screen with their thumb. I have used a number of smartphones and I have found that anything larger than 4" to me is difficult one-handed. I'm a large guy with big hands, so I'm pretty sure Apple did this to make sure most people could easily use the IP5 one-handed.

Personally I think around 4" is the sweet spot. Having a larger screen is awesome, but actually using it one handed is either painful or dangerous (to the phone)...

It still looks overly angular to be comfortable in the hand to me.

Was there any news on the Apple nav thing?

i pretty much agree with you, IMO the sweet spot is the 4-4.3 inch range, i have a nexus and large hands and anything larger would be too large

Apple bashers are pouring in ....

Btw why is our moderator trolling?

It's not trolling to simply say one is not jumping up and down with excitement. I was actually planning on getting one to replace my current phone but the excitement just isn't there.

What's the point of the new lens cover? The one thing that I find quite exciting is the possibility that it can sustain 8 hours of battery life with constant LTE/4G browsing - but somehow I find that hard to believe.

Ouch, steep prices on the new iPod Touch. I'd be surprised now to see anything about a smaller iPad if the Touch is $299/399.

most if not all the new features were done on android already

Yes, Android is ahead in featureset. The iphone offers simplicity and the apple ecosystem, which is what keeps me around.

You really think Apple couldn't have done all this back in 2011? It's all about implementing the features right with Apple and it has served them well.

Android makers just cram out everything as fast as they could without worrying about bugs/battery life/usability.

I prefer the Apple way to be honest and I have a Google Nexus.

Yeah, though I noticed that on a slide it said 8 Hours 3G/4G browsing.

And hopefully any areas that were improved upon will be implemented in any Android upgrades.

panorama works perfect on my cell,LTE gets me great battery life, taking pictures during video is clutch...I dont know I think this round apple is the one who is doing the copying.

I didnt see any info on widgets, nfc or notifications

did anything change on that front

I think that too but Apple does take it to a new level. The new Maps is pretty amazing. It's not just catching up. It's catching up and going further. That's what I've emphasized is what Apple's been doing. The camera is beautiful and if it took the SGS3 to match teh 4s camera, now they've just taken it one step further.

The point is Google needs to launch a really good Nexus phone now. It felt like yesterday when JB debuted, so I have a feeling they might push out the Key Lime Pie launch a bit. While a new Nexus is due, the OS just got an overhaul.

Can you imagine yet another new OS to update to when only 1% of the population is using JB? Considering Samsung is hard at work upgrading their SGS3 and SGS2 to JB, to have yet another update? Haha.... And we'll see HTC fall more and more behind in terms of their backlogged update schedule.

it does have its advantages, it seems at least samsung is attempting to take that approach with the galaxy line, google with the nexus line and im sure moto will adopt it with the razor going foreward, the base android OS has matured a ton so it requires less frequent fixing now

This is an step forward, but not a revolution. People had the same issue with the S3. It still looks like a sweet phone.
