man, this event is still going on.

And didnt apple release something like those new earpods years ago? I remember a similar set way back.

My favorite is that all the friggin' nerds in there wouldn't even stand up for the foo fighters, they just jumped on twitter or recorded the concert

pitiful

The Huawei Ascend P1 S is 6.68mm thick, the Oppo Finder is 6.65mm, and the ZTE Athena is 6.2mm thick so the iPhone 5 is obviously not the thinnest.

It didn't surprise me. Ever held an iPhone 4/4S with the back cover off? It's super thin-feeling and that's essentially what this is.

I think there are phones thinner than this, but not uniformly thinner. Most Android devices try to be super-thin, and then have to hump out at the camera.

The Oppo Finder posted above is uniform and still thinner.

I bet apple will sell 10 million before the end of the month.

It took SGS3 50 days to do the same.

the pricing on the new ipod tpouch pretty much eliminates the possibility of a $300-400 7 inch ipad in the near future

It seems like all phones are this way nowadays. I gotta be honest, nothing blew me away with this phone either. Part of it is because all of the leaks were dead on.

Most phones these days are all incremental changes. I mean what did the SGS 3 do that 'blew everyone away'. All it had was a bigger screen. It seems like everyone judges phones based on the screen size these days. That is how boring the smart phone space has become.

It's hard to say really. With the LTE threats from Samsung and HTC it might not even be available when stated....Time will tell I guess.

Guess pre-orders will rack up at least.

Pretty much....But screen size isn't a one size fits all thing

Even with the unified LTE there will still be separate CDMA and GSM versions :/

http://www.theverge.com/2012/9/12/3321894/apple-iphone-5-separate-gsm-cdma-versions

If there is one thing that we can take away from this, it's that it will not be easy to transfer an iPhone 5 from one carrier to another. The A1428 model for AT&T will never work on Verizon or Sprint's networks, and the A1429 won't be compatible with AT&T's. Additionally, should you get an AT&T model, it likely won't work with LTE networks in other parts of the world.

Ugh.

I gotta say I find the two toned back panel to be pretty ugly. And the increase in screen size doesn't help my biggest gripe with the iPhone - the screen is too narrow to type comfortably. This screen is bigger, sure, but its no wider, so it won't be any better for typing.

I'm not that hot on the back either. I like the way the new iPod Touch's look...

I think the longer screen would benefit web browsing quite a bit.

Probably not as much as you'd think. Needs a wider screen to aid in web browsing. The faster A6 processor will help more than the longer screen IMHO.

i pretty much agree with you, IMO the sweet spot is the 4-4.3 inch range, i have a nexus and large hands and anything larger would be too large

I do not understand this argument, even though I have seen it many times. Do you use a tablet? If you can handle a 9 or 7 inch tablet, why is a 4.5 inch phone too big?

I'm eagerly awaiting a phone with a sweet 5.5" screen. Bigger is better.

(Although having the latest and greatest OS stock by default is also very important, so I use a galaxy nexus rather than a note.)

Its said to be the thinnest smartphone at 7.6mm. I'm kind of surprised by that. What's the thinnest smartphone currently? And what are its measurements?

I had heard of this Huawei Ascend P1 Phone... claims to be 7.7 mm thick, but I'm sure it is not accounting that small bulge at the center of the phone for the camera and flash...

EDIT: Lauched at CES 2012 in Jan... Huawei P1S. Here is a link with specs...

EDIT 2: This one is 6.68 mm...

I don't hold, navigate and type on a tablet with one hand when I'm walking.

Certainly. Its not completely without its benefits, but as far as 4" screens go I'll take a 16:10 size like the original Galaxy S over 16:9, which I've never really liked. It wouldn't be a huge difference width-wise...but it helps.

Wish the new Note 2 was a 16:10. I like my Note LTE but it's looking slow now lol.
