So basically, the Galaxy S3.

The S3 has an international and a US version... it's fragmented. And there will be a new LTE version for worldwide LTE later I believe.

I want one device.

One phone for everywhere is a HUGE benefit.

The drawback is one screen size doesn't fit all. It's nice to have more power, etc but not everybody has little bitty hands and wears skinny jeans!

Screensize = fail for me but it's my opinion only....Although it's shared by many others!

Agreed. I'm using the Galaxy Nexus now and I actually miss the size of my iPhone 3G. Yes, that's 3G.

The iPhone 5 should be a good upgrade for my Nexus.

TBH IMO NFC is pointless, its slow adoption is due to the fact that no one fing cares about it besides a handful of nerds

There are entire asian countries whose populations use NFC on a daily basis.

I'm pretty sure the issue is specific to you and not the NFC tech.

what do you want? If it had a 4.3" or 4.5" screen i bet 60% of the complaints would stop.

I could see NFC and wireless charging making a case, although the former is just hype and not really useful IMO.

I actually think this launch was far better than iOS5. iOS6 brought far more to the table and while you could say some of it is catchup with Android, Apple's executed much better. I see Android playing catchup frequently but not delivering a better product. Like here's Google+, but it'll fall short. Here's Google Currents, but it sucks so bad compared to Flipboard. If you're going to launch, you need to be better than the competition. Apple brought maps to the table and it offers many new features Google Maps lacks. Siri was a huge game changer when it was introduced, and now it's gotten even smarter.

Oh I know, Japan has had NFC for years. I'm just saying the google implementation on the nexus (google wallet) is shitty at best. I can't get POS to detect the phone consistently.

Assuming that 8 hours battery life on LTE holds up; the impetus is there for other phone manufacturers to step up their game.

I tried to talk my wife into letting me sell her 4S to subsidize getting the iPhone 5 but she doesn't give a crap about any of it.

Yup. This is one place where dynamic scaling is much better for the user experience.

The funny thing is it coulda had a bigger screen with minimal effect on design or size. Not sure what Apple has against a larger screen....Or is it they just stepped on the wrong toes and are unable to get larger screens for a reasonable price?

Eventually, but it'll take a lot longer than you think. Even incremental iPhone tweaks will pile up money until every device is "good enough" and the frontier shifts to the next thing... like Glass.

Mind you, that may only be a few years off.

I don't think it has anything to do with price, Steve Jobs seemed to dislike bigger screens though so maybe that has something to do with it. I wish they would've made it a 4" screen with the same aspect ratio as before, I don't watch movies on a 4" screen anyway and I'd much rather have black borders around widescreen video than having them around apps.
