I just walked into a verizon store this morning and walked out 30 minutes later with a 64GB 5..

I really should just go to the store and buy them from now on. I asked about my apartment number being missing, and now I've got a delivery exception with an invalid address. :\

This has been frustrating enough that next time I get a phone, I will just go to the store on launch day. I mean... you spent as much time as I did just to pre-order the phone last Friday, and you've already got your phone while I'm twiddling my thumbs and hoping that Verizon didn't fuck me over.

What are you smoking? Their 10W charger is what, $30 or $40? I can build one for $5....

Jeez! Enough piling on already!

I must admit I haven't actually bought many Apple accessories like this, since I have so many floating around, but I was thinking specifically of the laptop and iPad chargers, which are a fair value for what they are and of very high quality - see, e.g., http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-57438791-233/under-the-hood-of-apples-iphone-ipad-charger/

I don't doubt that you could make one, but I sure as hell couldn't, and if I did it would be bulkier, less safe, and far less elegant than Apple's, plus take me an amount of time worth far more to me than the price of the piece.

They told me 14-21 days, never told me it shipped, and it was sitting on my doorstep. Nice!

I find it interesting that it does 120v and 240v w/o an adapter.

After using the phone a mere few minutes, all the people who said a bigger screen would make it harder to use, should feel absolutely vindicated. It's significantly harder to hit those back buttons on the upper left with your thumb. Hopefully apps will be built to not rely on them. I'm not sure the bigger screen is worth it.

Also, if its possible for a phone to be too light, they've definitely hit that point.

The screen quality seems on par with the 4/4S, dunno what any of the fuss was about there.

It does feel significantly faster though. I'm out of range of LTE until Monday, but I feel like out of everything, that's going to be the biggest difference.

Also, I need a case, stat. Feels like the back is made from a scratchtastic material.

I'd say that I'm surprised they left it on your door (mine had a signature required), but I've had FedEx leave a laptop (which had signature required) on my doorstep... in the rain!

I have to give some kudos to FedEx though. It seems that they came back about 3 hours later, somehow got my apartment number, tried to deliver it (I wasn't home), and delivered it to my apartment complex office. Went and got it, and I'll go visit the Verizon store to get my number and stuff ported over.

FWIW, I've bought a few eBay USB chargers at 1-2A for under $10, and they sucked. The best test was my USB Blu-ray drive. Plug it into an eBay 1A charger, and it would be flaky. Plug it into an Apple 1A iPhone charger, and it would work perfectly.

Poorly built then. A simple LM117 or LM317 can hit 1.5A with a grand total of like 10 parts.

My last 2 iPhones they left under my doormat. I told my GF to go home and put that shit inside the apartment.

I've had expensive stuff left outside and it doesn't bother me too much. If I am worried at all, I normally leave to go get it. The laptop was especially worrying because Dell never told me that it shipped until AFTER I got it. I don't blame you though... these phones aren't cheap!!

So, I'm running on Verizon's LTE and all I can say is... where have you been all my life! 5Mbps with 2 bars of signal? Hell yes! Unfortunately, my favorite browser hasn't been updated for the iPhone 5 yet.

Just got it. Pretty cool. Though its largely the same, I'm not gonna lie lol. So far no scuff marks on the aluminum except for a tiny speck near the charging port.

Anyone know where to get cheap screen protectors and good cases?

upgraded from a 4s - seems the same, but thank god for LTE. Verizon 3g is anemic, 2mbps max.

Here's my phone on LTE:

Stupid change to nano sim, argghh!!

Got my phone from UPS this afternoon, then had to go to the downtown Apple Store, park 2 miles away, walk in the rain to get there. They were quick to give me one for free at least, but it should've been included with the preorder.

Now I get home, do the sim change on the Rogers web site, and wait... Nothing, their servers are overloaded, and from what others have posted online it'll take like 4 hours.

All that to save 2 millimeters, just retarded!! What's the point of sim cards if they change the format every 2 years?

I bought two cases... one from Verizon and one from Monoprice. I considered returning the one from Verizon (it's $20 vs. $5 at Monoprice), but honestly... I don't like the Monoprice one as much. It's a two-piece setup with a bumper-like rubbery-piece in a plastic shell. The problem is that it feeds from the front, so my worry is that it will just fall out. The Verizon one is a bit pricy for what you get... it's really just one of those silicon shells.

Not to change the subject, but as to pricing of apple accessories, it costs coca cola 3 cents to produce one 8 oz can of coca cola. That includes the can.
So what does pricing matter?

Now back to the show....

I believe those figures are incorrect. (IIRC, it's closer to 16 cents per 12 oz can and 8oz actually cost more to run). But as it relates to Apple, a lot of the costs are in the logistics. Shipping and handling are the devil.

That just might be a few iPhones...

Anyhow, my iPhone 5 arrived today. I haven't had a ton of time to play with it, but I'm enjoying it so far. Though I will say the jump from a 3G to a 4 was still greater than a 4 to a 5, particularly since there's no major screen improvement or major CPU architecture shift.

Oh, and pictures don't do the lightning connector justice. It's tiny; it's not even as wide as the home button and thinner than I would have expected. I just hope that accessory manufacturers get on the ball quickly, as I have no desire to tote around an adapter.

Also, I'm having the damnedest problem syncing an app. I have Apple's Texas Hold'Em app; it just will not sync to the iPhone 5. There must be some kind of incompatibility with iOS 6.

The only bad thing is that now I've got an iPad 2 and the iPhone 5, which means I need both connectors. That tempts me to upgrade to the next version, which will most likely have the Lightning connector as well. Since I'm stuck on Verizon's shared plan, I might as well get one with mobile connectivity!
