All of AMD's 32nm GloFo products were SOI. Just note that it's technically HKMG + SOI (though with everything now being HKMG, it's kind of redundant).

Looks like i'm going to be picking up an A8-7800 45W Kaveri. Great performance at only 45Watts.

CPU wise it loses more than it wins to the 6800K.

Mostly minimal improvement to the 6800K in GPU, even losing to the 6800K in lower res.

The price hike is even more questionable now.

i find it interesting that in bioshock, the higher the res 7850k starts pulling ahead. Doesnt the res increase incur a bandwidth tax where it should have an advantage?

No it doesn't, in the 14 CPU benchmarks on Anandtech the 6800k wins 6, Kaveri 8.

It all came to a head this holiday season when he was playing the latest Tomb Raider game. He was running the game on a Pentium D with an NVIDIA 7200GT graphics card. His reactions are not the sharpest, and he did not seem to mind running at sub-5 FPS at a 640x480 resolution. I can imagine many of our readers recoiling at the thought of playing a modern game at 480p with 5 FPS. In the true spirit of the season, I sent him a HD 6750, an identical model to the one in the review today. Despite some issues he had finding drivers (his Google-fu needs a refresher), he loves his new card and can now play reasonably well at 1280x1024 on his old monitor.

The point I am making with this heart-warming/wrenching family story is that the Kaveri APU is probably the ideal fit for what he needs. Strap him up with an A8-7600 and away he goes. It will be faster than anything he has used before, it will play his games as well as that new HD 6750, and when my grandmother wants to surf the web or edit some older images, she will not have to wait around for them to happen. It should all come in with a budget they would like as well.:

One is IGP

But yes, true, 6/7. Its a stagnant product. Only the GPU holds any improvement. But thats not exactly revolutionary. And the price hike means the CPU got even worse performance/$ value than before.

Checking gaming benches with dGPU on hardwarecanucks. Then the much cheaper 147$ i3 4330 is between 25 and 50% faster.

Techreport is even more fun. Only 45W/65W CPUs to show the great benefit over Richland T models. And Kaveri naturally gets faster memory.

ET is badly misinformed. The HSA driver isn't even out yet; it's literally impossible to run HSA software right now. Instead it looks like they labeled all of their OpenCL benchmarks as HSA.

Interesting. 45W Kaveri consumes far more than 45W Trinity. It seems that they are messing with their TDP specs again.
