seems like you think the Australian prices (specifically the difference between 7700K and it 4440) are reasonable, I don't, the difference should be bigger, or the 7700K makes no sense,
If you only see the two of them as CPU ONLY, then 7700K is expensive. But if you see them as APUs then the 7700K is cheaper providing better Gaming and OpenCL performance making the Core i5 expensive.
So as i have said so many times, depends on what you are looking for. Its price may not make sense to you but it will make sense to someone else.
