So yeah I went back to the X1 tour to play some Killer Instinct again today. It opened at 3:30 and went to 6pm. I got there at like 4:30 because the Skins game went into overtime and I had to watch the end.
As with yesterday, they started with 2 Forza's, 2 Killer Instincts, and 2 Forza's. I know this because I asked the guys when I got there. When I got there, they had 5 Killer Instincts and 1 Fifa up. So again, Killer Instinct is just gaining so much interest at these tours.
I don't have too much more to say today about my impressions, but I will say once again, I can't play this game with the d-pad. Totally a personal preference, but I just can't do it. The d-pad is better than the 360 one, but it still sucks IMO. I would still press either left or right, and I would get a jump. It's just not fun to me. Thankfully hardly any games need a d-pad in general now a days.
There was a guy there today that was also there yesterday who was doing very good with Jago quickly. You could tell he knew what he was doing when it comes to fighters. When I got there he was on an 18 game streak and playing Jago, doing double ultras regularly. I saw him do a 94 hit one on me, and he did a 96 one he had said earlier. I knocked him off when he was playing Thunder, but it didn't feel legit because I know he wasn't his main guy.
When I was playing as Jago, he was basically breaking every combo of mine with ease. Basically, he already could tell which autodoubles of mine were L, M, or H. He could tell from the animations which were which. Which brings me to the fact that I think counter breakers are going to be BIG in this game, very very early on. If you see someone breaking your combos like the way mine were getting broken, simply do a counter break and that will start to change things. I forgot how to do counter breakers though and pressed FP+FK and ended up doing instinct mode on accident instead lol.
But I ended up staying only an hour and left before it closed becaus I was just getting annoyed with the d-pad. I simply cannot wait to play this at home.
On another note, I ended up snagging up the X1 day1 XBL card with Shadow Jago today from Best Buy. I was sold on getting it after playing yesterday. Also one thing I did not know, is that you get a $20 XBL credit with the purchase, which I'm assuming is just a $20 credit to spend on the marketplace, which I will use for Crimson Dragon at launch. So to me it was worth the price.
