Finally got my TE2 stick, its very nice. Only managed to get one quick game in this morning after the courier arrived before i had to go to work and she was messy will take a bit of getting used to after spending 3 weeks playing on the pad heh.
I can probably get used to it but is there a easy & simple way to add a bit more resistance to the stick itself? its a bit too light/easy to move from what I am used to in arcades if that makes sense. I am also not a huge fan of the off set buttons either TBH i would prefer them to be straight but dont think that can be changed.
Its a very well built and solid unit though, should provide mucho fun times.
yeah the parts on the te2 are japanese arcade parts. the american parts we're used to are happ. once you get used to it, you will probably like the jap parts better - i know i do, but took me some time to get used to it.
as far as the tension goes, this spring pack has 2-3 of the same types of springs that are in the joystick.

i put an extra one (so now i have 2 - the default one + the extra) inside of my joystick. definitely feels "tighter" now. i've tried putting 3 total in it, but it's a bit TOO stiff for my likings.
additionally, if you are used to american arcade parts, you might not like the square gate. you may want to check out the octo-gate for the jlf. i got my recent one here.

very easy to replace. the default one is the square gate, and as you can see from messing with it, it catches only in the corners. american joysticks don't have any gates, so it gives you the full circular motion. the octogate is similar in feel to it. i actually also have a circle gate, but i prefer the octogate because the JLF has less throw than american joysticks do, so with a circle gate it was kind of hard to be precise.
as far as the button layout, i agree i like them right on top of eachother. my custom joystick for 360/ps3 i have like that. but you will probably get used to it. additionally, madcatz said they are eventually going to have different panel kits, to help with different button layouts. i'm not sure if you opened yours up yet, but there is a metal plate in there. that, as well as the plexi, are what need to be replaced for different layouts. then obviously, the artwork will need to be as well to fit the new button layout. but for now, they don't have any custom panels yet for the TE2.
let me know if you wanna play some matches ever. i've been trying to get more time in it and feel like my glacius is starting to get better.
EDIT:
here's a video on how to replace/mod the spring. it takes a couple minutes. it's kind of tricky to get it all back together because you have to make sure everything is pushed together when getting the holder on.
