yeah spinal came out today. he's pretty fun, i've only played him a little bit though.

but the patch is buggy as shit for ranked matches. they implemented this "jail" concept where ragequitters with over 15% dc rate go in there, but it's backfiring hard because the game is DC'ing randomly as shit now, and it punishes everyone with that rate even if you didn't quit. it's very poorly implemented.

it also seems to be freezing when spinal teleports into the corner sometimes. it happened to me when i was in a spinal mirror match.

So Double Helix is now owned by Amazon. I'm not sure what this will mean for KI or the company but seems like an interesting development.

They announced that all current and future games will continue to be supported. I dont think this changes much. Amazon can be the publisher and they can release double helix's titles exclusively through amazon.com now if they want. Have to see what happens when all their current projects are completed.

I find it very hard to believe that KI will not get continued support. If they do that, you can bet they won't sell another fighting game in the FCG, nor will they get any support from them.

I thought they did an excellent job with KI so hopefully this doesn't effect the games future at all.

yeah people have been freaking out over on the DH forums all morning.

ms has said they will announce the new dev partners for ki "soon" so hopefully not too far in the future. they also said that key people from ms will stay on the team.

what i'm hoping for is that the guys who are now owned by amazon instead of dh are simply put on their own team at amazon and that they are just the new dev partners.

as someone who's worked in the contract world of development, just because companies switch on a project does not mean that the actual people switch much at all.

Just read on ign that Nintendo just purchased the licensing for Killer Instinct for the Wii U. Apparently they are pulling support from Xbox and focusing only on Wii U

No...that isn't happening. I just checked ign and that can't be found anywhere. MS owns Killer Instinct rights and they will continue to hold on to that.

It does say that all 75 employer of double helix games will remain in place at their current location in CA.

Just busting chops Dredd lol. KI franchise is my favorite fighter all time. It sucks that they finally have an amazing product and they might be breaking up the team. Hope they keep up the great work.

I thought you really read that and so I looked lol. You got me.

The team is not breaking up though. They say in the ign article that all the employees remain in place and are not moving and all their current and future projects will continue to be supported. MS owns the name and rights to KI but DH wasn't part of MS. Honestly there isn't anything to be worried about with KI or their Strider reboot that is scheduled for this month.

The way it reads to me is that amazon simply acquired double helix but isn't making any changes to the status quo right now. Why would MS need "new Dev partners" when the same people are still there? Phil Spencer says via twitter that it was mostly an internal MS project anyway.

I just now saw this thread. To the KI players with TE2 sticks, where did you order them from and who has them in stock RIGHT now? Gamestop.com?

so apparently they said fulgore, story, and lobbies might not make it into march. i'm not to worried about that as long as it's not bug ridden like the spinal update so it's fine with me if that is the case.

is anyone on these forums playing this game still? if i do play it, it's pretty much just on the weekends on friday and saturday night pretty late after my wife goes to sleep. i'd love to put more time into it though and might starting soon once i finish up a project.

if anyone on these boards is still playing and fairly decent, wanna run some matches this weekend?

I have been off it the past few weeks, but I haven't really been playing anything. I never really acclimated to the combo system, but I am debating putting in a good amount of time. We just purchased a new couch and I am going to have to 'break it in' with some long gaming sessions this weekend. >_<

I suck since I don't play enough but I play a couple times a week. I usually run the survival mode trying to break my personal best.

eh you aren't really going to get any better playing survival mode to be honest. well i guess execution and learning the mechanics you will. i only play once or twice a week and think i can hold my own pretty well though. but playing survival mode against ai is utterly pointless other than practicing execution and stuff. i guess you can learn the opponents moves too to learn what autodoubles/linkers are what power.

also in survival i noticed that the ai pretty much only used heavy auto doubles. it was boring breaking their combos so easily after a while. but then once you hit level 20 the difficulty goes from noob easy to stupidly cheap.

i just can't have fun playing a fighter single player since the ai pretty much only plays 1 way. there is no adaptation or mind games, which is the whole fun in a fighter.

sounds like you play as much as i do or more you should be okay with the mechanics by now!

I bet you play more during one sitting than I do. I rarely put more than 30minutes at a time into it.

yeah i definitely do, like an hour or 2. usually buzzed or drunk when i do it too heh.
