Power supplies are cheap, nice to have a spare anyway. Fortron or Sparkle 400w 120mm is about 30 bucks, very nice, quiet power supply

Hey Guys, my system just failed to boot(no video, no post) all the sudden overnight, has this ever happen to anyone with this mobo? I just cleaned everything and re mount the cpu and is still the same. The hard drive light won't even blink and it normally does on boot although i can still power off the system by holding the power button for 10 second. I can't tell what broke, the cpu or the mobo. Does anyone have any insight on this issue?

If you go to 3.13, just keep in mind that CnQ won't work in Vista, and there's no Wake from KB/mouse option.
You are right. I tested Scythe Kama 92mm PWM fan with my K8NGM2-FID and found that the fan speed changed just like a 3-pin fan.Originally posted by: Roca05
Can't it be fixed with cool and quiet turned on?

About a month ago, a little while after upgrading to the 3.70 BIOS, I've been unable to shutdown my PC. I mean, I'll click "Shutdown" in Windows XP SP2, but it won't really go into shutdown mode. It will go into some sort of sleep/hiberbation/suspend/coma mode that it cannot wake from. I'll press the power button...nothing. Rest button? Same thing. The only reason why I think it's in a suspend type mode is that the power LED in my case blinks slowly at me, just like when it's in standby. Normally when it's in standby, I can press the power button to wake it up or press a key on my keyboard, but no dice using those methods at this juncture. I've even shut the power off on both the power supply and from the outlet, but somehow when I plug it back in, it remembers that it's in a coma.:Q
Other things that I've tried are reformatting with Windows XP SP2 (well, the TinyXP Platinum 2 edition, ahem) and trying three different video card variations - onboard, 7600GT, 8600GTS - no luck.
The ONLY way that I've been able to power the machine back up is by removing the CMOS battery. I've even pressed/held the CMOS button a bunch of times to no avail...only removal of the battery works. This further supports by theory of a BIOS conspiracy.
Has anyone ever come across this sort of behavior with this or any other board?? I've Googled the heck out of this issue, but I've not come across a single instance of this unique problem.
My next course of action, barring an enlightening reply on this board, is to upgrade to the beta BIOS from MSI (3.71, I believe). If that doesn't work, I'll downgrade to 3.50, 3.20, and 3.10 to see if any of those work. I don't want to have to try different HW combos since I'm all out of AMD compatible mobos and PSUs. I suppose if the firmware cha-cha doesn't work, I'll have to go down that path.
Thanks,
jawgee
mcjm73:: Hello everyone first time poster on this forum, although I have been reading this thread on and off over the last year and a half. This is a great source of info for this motherboard by the way, thanks to all the great posts by everybody. My question has to do with Vista I am considering wiping my system clean due to a few problems with XP and have been thinking about switching to Vista Home Premium. I would like to know some of the issues and problems you have had. I did a search on this thread and only found a few things but would like some more input before I make my decision. My system is pretty basic 1 gig ram 3800 X2 cpu and I use the onboard sound and video. All input is greatly apreciated.
