I think what he's referring to is explained here. I can say that I notice this on HSPA too if the connection is idle. It takes more than a few seconds as I can see the arrows start blinking and the indicator goes from 3G to H to H+ before data even starts flowing through.

Having LTE gives more of an instant response.

Yeah this is usually what happens...when it's working properly. When it's not, the phone kinda just...sits there. It never appears to do anything involving data unless connected to WiFi or synced at H+ speeds with the tower; nothing ever gets through when the phone is showing UTMS/3G or HSDPA/H links.

Occasionally when trying to get cellular data going whether through a browser, app notifications, or even just a data-based messaging app, I get nothing while the phone just never ramps up from 3G or flips between 3G/H/H+ back and forth until the apps timeout. Sometimes the modem will disconnect and reconnect to the tower but even then it's a coin flip as to whether that'll work; sometimes it does and other occasions it'll just repeat the same behavior.

HTC One S on TMobile in Los Angeles/San Gabriel Valley area. It can happen indoors, outdoors, where I work, right outside my own house, on either AWS or PCS towers, regardless of baseband version and ROM. I never could figure out why this happens after over a year.

The other thing that annoys me is that even though I select the option to never sleep on WiFi the phone seems to do it anyway as soon as the screen turns off. It's annoying as hell when I use an app like AirDroid for texting or transferring files over my home network, and especially when trying to tether. Is this normal behavior for Android or is this down to specific phones (if the latter, I sure hope Nexus behavior is different)?

16GB?! Noooo! It's almost 2014 already, make 32GB the base!

Apple and Google totally suck in this regard.

LG's last couple 8MP sensors have been stinkers IMO. (Nexus 4 and Optimus G).

Wish they were using the 13MP from the G2, they finally got a camera comparable to Samsung

I haven't personally used the g2 camera but from all the reviews they say low light sucks which the nexus 4 sucks at as well. I just want a s3/s4 like camera that can take quick pictures. The nexus 4 focuses too slow.

You could be facing congestion.

As for the Wifi issue, this was a known issue on the Nexus 4 and 4.2. I'm not sure if Google managed to fix it in 4.3.

I think it's just how the AOSP camera app works. The good thing is it doesn't take much to outdo the Nexus 4 camera in low light.

More leakage, claiming actually two models;

16GB, 2300mAh, $299
32GB, 3000mAh, $399

"With that in mind, we are told that the 16GB LG Nexus 5 will feature a 2300mAh battery and will be priced lock, stock and barrel for $299. The 32GB LG Nexus 5 will be powered by a 3000mAh cell and will be priced at $399."

An "anonymous" tipster is cited as the source...
I don't view that website as being anywhere near credible when it comes to things regarding Android.
It seems most sites(this one included) just report anything sent from an anonymous tipster just to generate page hits and not bother digging further on whether or not the anonymous tip is actually true.

Regardless of whether it has 2300mAh or 3000mAh, I'm getting the 32GB version.

Not going to bash the site, but the story makes no sense at all. Why would google make two models with different battery sizes. I'm sure there will be a 16GB and 32GB version but I'm not going to expect a 3000mAh battery. I'm content with the credible leaks we've seen recently with manual and I'd be happy with that phone.

Another source for the two battery sizes. A Japanese retailer has listed the two Nexus 5 models and they are also showing 16GB with 2300mAh battery and 32GB with 3000mAh battery. So it may be true.

Interesting. The 32GB with 3000mAH would be nice. Anyone know how much smaller the N5 would be vs the Note2? I like having new toys but love the size. I really wish they sold a GE of the Note 3

The rumored dimensions put it almost the exact same dimensions of the LG Optimus G, making it considerably smaller (~19 mm shorter, ~11 mm narrower).

I am skeptical of the 3000mAH battery but if it's true that would be great to see Google put such a large battery in the Nexus line. Maybe it will push other OEMs to match.

WTF ?? Are you serious ??
If Google actually release 16gb version for $299 and there's still reason to complain ??

With that kind of attitude we'll be at 16GB base forever. Why shouldn't we always be demanding more? These companies make billions off of us.

How many phone manufacturers have 32GB as the base standard for their flagship?
You're given the option for 32GB, and yet you're complaining that it's not the base standard?

What if not everyone needs more?
If you want a 32GB phone, Google will provide one with the Nexus 5.
Stop complaining that 16GB is still the base standard.

I'd rather they spent that extra money on battery than making 32GB the base standard.

Not bashing the site per say...
It just that when it comes to all things Android, I have my rankings.

Tier #1: (In no particular order)
Android Police
Android Central
Droid-Life
XDA

Tier #2:
Everyone else

If this thing turns out to be true, then fine.
But I'm very skeptical...

There were a lot of Android websites that reported false information about Android 4.2 last year(Androidandme, I'm looking at you)

Samsung's moving there with the Note 3. And 16gb + microSD necessitates no more additional built in storage anyway. And plus, there's other options besides moving the base to 32gb. They can offer a 64gb option like Apple has for years, and HTC is offering for its One.

What if not everyone needs more?

The issue is people want a $299 phone and then they want features. You can't have them all. However, to me it's fair to ask for a $500 phone full of features. The other manufacturers are giving us plenty of features

You are not basing this on reality are you ??
This is a phone thats has better features than a S4 for half the price and you're whining about 16gb ??
Samsung is making billions but their phone also sells for ~$600.
Google certainly isn't making billions off the hardwares.
I for one feel lucky that I'm able to buy a top tier phone for 1/2 of what everyone is charging.

I feel like there's two separate issues here, and people keep talking about the price. First of all, you can't compare the two prices that easily. Can you compare in terms of how much it impacts your wallet? Sure. Does it influence what you buy? Yeah. But remember, Google's using loss leader pricing. It's a different model. This is like comparing unlocked phones with subsidized phones. You inevitably talk $600 versus $200. I'm obviously spending more by buying unlocked phones whereas my friend is saving more by upgrading to a GS4 and spending $200. Google's not in it for hardware profit, and so just because they want to have cutthroat pricing, doesn't mean that everyone else does also. It also doesn't mean they should be cutting corners.

Like I said before, the Nexus is LIKE a flagship. It has practically all the specs of a flagship. There's nothing wrong with asking for more storage too. I don't get why people have the attitude of "Well it's $299, so they can do whatever." Would you be happy with a dual core Krait from last year because it's half the price? Would you be happy with a 720p screen because it's half the price of a GS4? Would you be happy with 1500mah battery? At what point do you draw the line?

It makes more sense to look at what the Nexus is competing against. It's competing with flagship phones. It's not competing against mid range HTC One Mini or GS4 Mini, so it makes sense to hold it against other top phones.
