If you're into rooting and custom ROMs, is there any reason to get this over the G2?

One thing I'm sad about with all of today's announcements? No Google Music on iOS yet. They said end of the month

Why not make the whole thing white instead of just the back of it? I am going with black anyway but out of curiosity.

Edit: And disappointed by 16/32 GB options. Google surely don't need to count pennies (eMMC chips) on what is likely an "enthusiast" platform. 32/64 GB options would have been nice.

The verge is trashing the camera

?? Dude only said Android cameras in general suck. You definitely twisted his words.

However, I have to say Dieter B from Verge is annoying to read. Always trying to find somehing to moan about with Android.

The front of white phones always look odd. With the screen off there's a big black rectangle with a white border with the screen on there's a white border, then a thin black border then the active bit of the screen.
It just looks better with the front all black, the screen disappears into the front.

Well, I suppose it's a subjective taste so I have to disagree and leave it there. I think it looks a bit off with black and white stuck together.

True, but from the Nexus 5 shots in the Play store it looks like even the white one has an all-black front with no borders.

I'm debating between the white or black 32gb....will probably just go Black since the "one-color front, other color back" looks kinda weird...That and since the back is plastic now I'm afraid the white will discolor eventually (die from jeans, case, or whatever).

That is probably my biggest fear! I don't want the phone to acquire stains over time. What should be used to clean off grease? Windex?

I don't even know. They have all these "premium electronics cleaning solutions" like "iKlear" for Macs but I just use warm water...

Anyways I have a cheapo plastic case for my current phone which has discolored like crazy within 2 weeks. I'm assuming the plastic LG/Google is using in the Nexus 5 is of much higher quality....but ya never know.

I'm gonna go with the Black just in case. 32GB Black ordered for Nov 8th shipping (2nd batch?)

The 5S is pretty damn good, but even if this phone can do something like my iPhone 5 (non-S) I'll be very impressed. Let's not forget that the Nexus 4 is probably behind the 4S too in terms of image quality.

Looks like I'm going to have to pass. Unless I'm reading this wrong the N5 LTE bands are really limited. I wouldn't get 4G in many places at all.

Thanks for the pic. I agree its subjective but from that view, I think it solidified my personal decision to go with all-black (agree with you again that it looks a bit "off").

Dammit, gonna have to cancel my order. Just read on Ars that the phone isn't compatible with Verizon... *cries*

From SirOmega on Ars:
It will run on AT&T (GSM/HSPA/LTE bands all supported), T-Mobile (GSM/HSPA in PCS and AWS, LTE supported) and Sprint (CDMA, tri-band LTE for 800, 1.9 and 2.5).

It wont work on Verizon because it doesn't support Band 13 LTE (Verizon's 700MHz LTE network).

However, I have to say pretty much everyone from Verge is annoying to read. Always trying to find somehing to moan about with Android.

At the rate of sounding like a fanboy, I made a small edit to your post. The Verge pretty much complains and pans anything that isn't iOS in general it seems. Don't even get me started on David Pierce. The Verge is definitely becoming a culture site that does some tech on the side instead of the opposite it seems.

At any rate, I was actually looking at dumping my Note 3 for a Nexus 5 but now I think I'm just going to wait on some user reviews. I always get gadget happy when any new tech is announced.

I thought it was know for a while that this phone wouldn't work on Verizon. The Nexus 4 didn't so I'm not sure why the Nexus 5 would, especially given Verizon's treatment of the 1 nexus phone they had.

You're reading it wrong. It has every LTE band for T-mobile, AT&T, and Sprint, including the tri-band stuff Sprint just announced yesterday.

Verizon, of course not, but we knew that.

That's crazy talk.
