I don't know if it's placebo or not, but I feel that I'm getting better battery life (about a half hour more screen on time) with ART enabled. But then again, I've only had ART enabled for a week, so we shall see how it develops.

In other news... two Tylt chargers just came in for me! Wooo~

After testing between Galaxy S4 (Movie Mode), Nexus 5 and iPhone 5S. I have to say the screen that is closest to my U2410 HW Calibrated monitor is the Nexus 5, followed by iPhone 5S, then Galaxy S4.

iPhone 5S is definitely not better calibrated than the N5.

If it was on the charger for an hour yesterday that doesn't really count. You can't say 2 and a quarter days and 20% left if part of that time was charging. An hour on the charger is close to 50% of your battery. That is like saying your car gets excellent mileage because you never "fill" the tank but you still but $5-10 in every other day. The only numbers that really matter are fully charging it and running it to almost 0%(going to totally 0% is bad for the phone if you do it do often) which your typical usage and then doing that a few times and getting an average. It also depends on how you use it. I could get 2.25 days on my Nexus 5 on a single charge if I hardly ever use it.

I can consistently get about 15 hours off the charger with 4 hours of screen on time and about 24 hours off the charger with about 3 hours of screen on time.

That is with Google Now (and hot word detection) ON, 60/40 between wifi(usually off when not in use)/mobile data(3G/LTE), Bluetooth on and connected for about 1.5 hours a day, Location Services and Location Reporting on with battery saving mode, screen brightness at about 1/3.

That is a much better test of battery life.

all i know is my galaxy would have died 3 times already.

edit: per the meter it was 30% recharged.

I am beginning to think Jim may have been right all along. At least on some colors. Can you guys check the colors on your Nexus 5's on the following pages? At the very least the colors on the iPhone 5S and the Nexus 5 are very, very different. (I did a side-by-side at a mall today) Especially on mixed colors, such as pastel teal, not saturated primary ones.

Yes, this was my point. the iPhone 5 looks different, and I saw this on my iPhone 5 too. My "calibrated" Nexus 4 seems to be closer to my iPhone 5 than my Nexus 5.

There's a huge thread about Gamma 2.2 calibration on XDA, and it's not that easy to achieve. Gamma 2.2 would give the screen a more punchy look because the stock calibration is Gamma 2.0 or so.

Well, this color thing started giving me headache so this is going to be my last post on this point. I had my friend come over with his Note 3 and compared the colors.

There is some obvious oversaturation on the Note 3 (esp. in the first column) but for the most part the difference isn't earth-shattering. I am thinking that iPhone 5S colors are off and inaccurate compared to the Nexus 5 or the Note 3. Or perhaps both the Note 3 and the iPhone 5S are oversaturated compared to the Nexus 5. I can't be sure how much more saturated iPhone's colors looked than the Nexus 5 now. (that happened in the afternoon)

P.S. And in any case, it can't be that both the iPhone 5 and the Nexus 5 are 99% accurate sRGB. My money is on the Nexus 5 though I wouldn't mind hearing rebuttals. Barring such, I would treat any evaluation/review that worships iPhone's color accuracy as "perfect" to be a sham.

If anything, Note 3 Movie mode is the golden standard at color accuracy.

Take a guess as to which phone each of the following chromaticities represent, measured by AT. They are iPhone 5s, Note 3, Nexus 5 but not in that order. (so that you can try at guessing) The round dots should ideally fit in the square boxes. Failing that, the closer the distance the better.

They are supposedly reflected in the chart below. (higher value = larger errors/distances) :awe:

What was your screen on time. Depending on that the 2 days could be very impressive or not impressive at all.

If I left my Nexus 5 in stand by and wifi the entire time I could get 4 days off the charger. If I have like 4 hours of screen on time I'll get like 15 hours off the charger.

My Moto G can do 2days 15hrs and be at 9% battery left. That's with slightly over 4hrs screen on. (And 11hrs of keep awake from Tunein, not playing music.)

I gotta sell my S4 and get this darn phone. Naked Android is just the best.

Moto X looks great but I'm not doing AMOLED again. I need to be able to see my phone outdoors better.

I think you might be right. I have already requested a new one. They are letting me keep my current one until the new one comes. Hopefully it fixes my problem.

So I finally got my replacement Nexus 5 and I'm happy to say that the old one was defective. The colors on the new one look way better. The colors are actually more comparable to every other display I've looked at and quite realistic. Very happy now.

I'm sorry but I have a really hard time believing that. No way could a 720p IPS screen and a 2070mAh battery get that kind of battery life.

That is far better than even the G2 or Droid Maxx.

The Nexus 5 will get about 15 hours off charger with 4 hours of screen on time while in deep sleep for most of the time the screen is off. What you are telling me is that a phone with a 10% smaller battery and a less power efficient CPU gets 48 hours more stand by time with 11 hours of being kept awake?

Even the Moto X with bigger battery, more power efficient screen and more power efficient CPU doesn't get anywhere even remotely close to that.

Also, my speculation is backed up by several reviews stating that the Moto G's battery life is nothing special. It's slightly above average for a phone with a 2,070mAh batter.

Sorry but I'm going to need to see screenshots to believe that.

Glad to see I was wrong about your N5 probably not being defective then. Enjoy!

Finally got myself a screen protector! I was waffling 'cause I hate the feel of most screen protectors, plus many get fingerprinty. Then I found out that they sell oleophobic tempered glass ones.

I ended up getting a Spigen glas nano one
http://www.spigen.com/nexus-5-screen-protector-glas-t-nano-slim.html, and it works like a charm; feels almost exactly like the original glass does. Relatively expensive @$35ca for one, but IMO, "protecting" your phone shouldn't mean degrading your touch experience with it. The only problem I've had is that the edge of the glass tends to build up a slight whitish edge where it traps a very small layer of lint all around the glass. Not a real problem for me, as I care more about the feel of the phone than the look of the (non-screen) portion of the face!

Do you have a case on the phone too? If so which one? I would think the glass screen protector would add a little thickness. I'd like to get one but not sure how it will work with my Neo Hybrid case. I want to make sure my case will fit and will still be easy to get on and off. Getting it off is a little difficult already.

$35? That's a tenth of the price of the 16GB Nexus 5 that I have! No thanks.

the iLoome i have on my s4 was like $25 on Amazon. It depends on what you value more - having to replace your screen on a drop or it getting scratched up, or protect it with good stuff. plastic screen covers suck. these glass ones resist finger prints and do not distort or block screen quality.

of course there is no guarantee that it will prevent your screen from cracking but it definitely reduces the chances. i dropped my phone with the first iLoome i got. that cracked but the phones screen did not.

That doesn't mean the glass would have cracked without the protector.

I've dropped my phone many, many times and have never so much as scratched the screen. TPU case with lip does wonders.
